  1. caught a ten pounder in this pond last week.
  2. I don't know if it's what they HAVE to do. Seems like the segment is flooded with this type of info. I'd prefer to see them helping new anglers, or showing how to set up rigs they used. Not some sales pitch about their new trolling motor, and how it's a game changer. They're missing the boat on effective marketing. Seeing a pro use a certain piece of gear, to land a fish, like a brand name net, drives sales for that net up, if it works well. Telling me all the features of the net is something I can find in that brands marketing - I don't need them to rehash it. It's just my opinion of the state of things.
  3. What kind of waves have you seen when those waters are at their worst? How much time do you have to react to changes in weather? How far from the ramp will you be fishing? These are what should drive your decision. If it's anything close to where I fish, a deep-v is probably your only option in all but the calmest days, close to the launch, for a small craft. I've been almost caught with my 22' bass boat a couple times, and was glad to have the speed to get back before it got really bad.
  4. Every boat I've had, from deep-v to aluminum bass boat, to glass boat, I've upgraded to a 52" shaft. Yes, sometimes you have to raise it a bit in shallow calm water, but usually no more than 12" with is about as high as my graphs, so no biggie.
  5. A mod-v or or semi-v of that length will also have a 15" transom for a short shaft OB. What type of water are you looking to fish, and what could you potentially get caught in?
  6. What's even worse to me is when the video host asks for likes and subs. Like we all don't know how this YouTube thing works. If your videos (note I didn't say content) are good enough, likes and subs come naturally. But I digress, keep crushing the game changing content in 2020.
  7. I like the internet for quick answers, like what size braid to use for punching, or why to use a heavier or lighter spinnerbait in certain situations, or even how to rig up a bait. Things with quick, simple answers that lessen mistakes, and shorten the learning curve. I think that's where a site like this really shines. Like JT said, back in the day, I'd have to wait for a magazine to come out, and it featured some piece of tackle or technique, and even then I made mistakes, like putting 20# braid (Gorilla, I think?) on a baitcaster back in the early 90s when it first came out. It wouldn't have occurred to me to use a much thicker line. Took me a decade or more to try it again. Seemed like a pain, until the internet told me otherwise.
  8. Nice to see you up here, @JT Bagwell
  9. Nice screen shot T9. My main beef has nothing to do with Wheeler's fish, but how YTer's use anecdotal data, over inflate their theories, and sell the idea of "here's the truth behind" what ever they're spewing at the moment to drive a monetized medium. You won't believe what happens next!
  10. Just one example: They don't move from depths of 20-30 to shallow several times a day.
  11. Sure, it can go that way, but his claims on what the fish are doing, and his inferences are DEAD wrong, and the explanations to why are actually impossible. There's a reason he's a tuber and not a pro. I was surprised he taught fishing. Example of bunk leaps: I caught a big fish on a junebug worm. The water was clear, so that's the best color for big fish in clear water. The bass can see that purple better, which is why it bit the bait. You should buy only junebug lures if you're fishing clear water. The bigger fish know that junebug replicates the natural forage and will go a long way to eat it. Ten years ago, green pumpkin was the clear water color, but that's an outdated technique.
  12. It's a bunch of myths that perpetuate the "buy this gear and you'll be better" junk science.
  13. I'm not even 3 minutes in, and I'm tuning out. Totally full of it.
  14. That part also serves as a sacrificial anode. There might be two more rectangular metal parts on the sides of the LU that serve this purpose, too. Chances are, you have one without the fin. Most of my motors had them, one didn't. They are adjustable, but I never had to. I can imagine much of that fin is in the water once on plane, since it's just below the cavitation plate. Maybe it helps during hole shot.
  15. I bet Mike @Delaware Valley Tackle could make you a sweet one for a reasonable price. I miss my 6' pistol grip rod to this day. Stupidly sold it a garage sale thinking it was too old school.
  16. The site is reactive, and automatically adjusts the layout based on screen size. You can see it on a PC/Mac by slowly shrinking the browser window. It's pretty cool. If for some reason you need to see the full site on a smaller device, choose "View Full Version on Mobile" from the Theme drop down at the bottom of the page.
  17. I think that's enough fun for one thread.
  18. Nice Whaler! Have you talked to your dealer to see if anyone else has tried this? The hand control mentioned above is the only thing I can think of that would work.
  19. I'll laugh at you I started this when my hands were too cold to work right. Now it's habit.
  20. A picture is worth ten-thousand words. Let's see the bow of the boat.
  21. A pill that recreates the feeling of catching a PB...
  22. 5-6 wraps is plenty for me. Tip: I hold the loop in my left, run the tag through the loop with my right, and hold the tag in my lips, while I position my right for the next run through the loop. I use my lips as a third set of fingers.
  23. I probably wouldn't have repaired that unless I was selling.
  24. Meh. Pouring soda into a bass's mouth is akin to giving a human pure ammonia gas. Might wake them up, but it's poison. Why bother, when plain old water (the water they live in) works fine? I don't get it.
