  1. What I said still holds. The only line I use that would be called nylon mono is Rippin'. The rest fall into other categories. It's irrelevant, since Rippin' was discontinued. I'll be hoarding my stash in a cool, dry, dark place. When it runs out, I'll probably go back to Sufix. For bass fishing, I'll continue to use fluoro and braid.
  2. Most nylon mono lines are co or multi polymers.
  3. We have DEC, Sheriff, USCG, and ICE patrolling our waters. The Sheriffs actually set up speed traps in speed restricted areas. Ask me how I know.
  4. In NY, a boat is a motor vehicle, and the DWI laws apply to operating a motor boat the same as operating a car. You're more likely to be pulled over driving a car in a lake, or a boat on the highway. Just saying.
  5. The only line I use that could be considered "nylon mono" is Seaguar Rippin' mono, and I don't use it for bass. I'd put it right there next to Sufix. Both are great lines.
  6. Thinning of the herd never seems fair.
  7. Up here, if you are parked in the lot, you pay the launch fee.
  8. If it's a reel I buy for myself, I fish it a few times, and decide whether to completely disassemble, degrease, and re lube/assemble to my preferences. I rarely change bearings, unless one is bad. I almost always replace the drag washers with genuine Carbontex. I occasionally change the handle/knob assembly. If the reel was sent to me for evaluation, I do nothing, not even routine maintenance to the reel, unless it starts malfunctioning. This is in order to report back to members what to expect from the reel. In my opinion, you should be able to buy a reel, fish it like you stole it, and not worry about mechanics for a year.
  9. Meh, I can do the same with a DS rig, and be able to adjust the length of the dropper. This hook/weight doesn't address any problem I face. Good to know its out there, but it isn't a wacky jig. I'm sure you can catch fish with it, just like the million other things I don't have in my tackle box. Sort of reminds me of a Tokyo rig, in it's usefulness. Also, I'd like to add this little tidbit: wacky jig as your hook on a DS rig. Think about it. It's bad. ?
  10. I was going to post this as well. So, since possession is illegal, then release is as well. I'll take this thread to remind members of the rules: Forum Rules and FAQ Thanks!
  11. Looks more like a jika rig than a wacky jig. Looks a little weird to do the flick shake thing with, but probably not gonna do that with a senko any way. I don't like the idea weight jingling around the knot, though. Maybe it's not a problem.
  12. Conditioning and intelligence aren't really the same thing. You can train a guppy to do the same thing. Next time, fish with a hot dog. This is the reason Berkley Trout Dough works on stockie trout - it's almost the same as the chow they feed them in the grow out runs.
  13. Kind of a turf thing.
  14. Clearly I fish Lake Ontario and Erie in a kayak. Depends on the kayak and a the kayaker as in hull design and skill level for fishing certain waters like big lakes or fast current.
  15. That's about all most of my reels hold, so I just spool them up without backer. Yes, you will feel the connection knot when feathering the spool with your thumb while casting.
  16. Sunline Shooter? With just 66 yds. of line on, you'll feel the connection knot.
  17. High pressure and high traffic are two different things. Fish where people seldom fish, but walk, and I find the fish don't take much notice of people on shore.
  18. Been around boats my whole life. The first boat I was allowed to captain alone was a 16' rowboat. Then, a canoe. Later, I had a small O/B strapped on that rowboat. After that, I could take the 17' Penn Yan woody out in the big lake for smallies. There have been open bow I/O runabouts, and jet skis on and off. Since then, I've had a couple deep-V tillers, aluminum and glass bass boats, including a "go fast" Bullet. I have had a canoe and kayaks all along. My next boat I'm looking at is a 25' bay boat. It will probably be my last boat.
  19. I do actually have three that I like for this: 6-2 MXF for short, sniper style; 6-10 MXF general purpose, accuracy casting; and a 7-3 MHXF for bombing 3/4 ouncers.
  20. I'd toss the hub caps, clean up the steel, and shoot them with Rustoleum.
  21. Remember all those posts that said it wouldn't sell, lol.
  22. How not to bed fish should be the title. Paul's @Paul Roberts videos are much better at documenting and discussing bass behavior.
