  1. Where's the purse? Seriously, that is pretty cool. There have been production lures in the past that had options, like multiple line ties, but for the most part, the customization has been left to plastics rigging. Nice Work!
  2. They are fun bait to fish, especially from shore.
  3. We're talking about the levelwind on baitcast reels. Modern spinning reels use a crown and pinion drive system. My dad has a very old (from the 70s) D.A.M. Quick reel with a true worm drive. Some higher end spinning reels use a worm gear to generate spool oscillation. I have a Shimano Stradic that is well over a decade old, never had anything replaced, and has 5 bearings total.
  4. That deck extension looks really well done. I had a similar extension on my old Xpress h18.
  5. Bring someone you trust, lol.
  6. The procedure itself isn't bad at all. It's the prep.
  7. By 50, I'm afraid everything will be broken. 2 years to go!
  8. Prefishing isn't always an option.
  9. I'd think that interference would be brought up right off the bat. The person using it didn't say anything about it.
  10. I don't disagree, but that comes with the territory. I've seen it on other forums that aren't fishing related. It's pretty easy to read between the lines, and thin out. What's not productive is going on and on, interrogating posts, calling others out, questioning the feedback. Ask me how I know, lol.
  11. I wouldn't say it's totally nonsense, but a lot of is coming from those that never used them. They are a high seller of budget level gear, and I think this is where it stems from. It's likely that many getting serious into fishing have seen the gear readily available. When it doesn't hold up, they upgrade to better gear, and I think that's the taste left in their mouth. They come up here, buy "X-Brand everyone is talking about" and their Quantum experience ends there. Maybe that's not fair, but that's what I see here. The Tour Grade stuff is good - it should be for what you pay.
  12. For my fishing, something around 7', medium/fast taper would serve many options. I'd still want the same thing in a MH as well, though. So, my official answer is get two.
  13. I hear you, but in most states it isn't legal to keep game fish. It definitely isn't legal to release any creature back into the wild. Any negativity you brought on yourself when you decided to make them pets. If you want to legally proceed, you'll have to contact your state's DNR., and secure the proper permits. It isn't hard to do, but it helps if you have some association with a college or research facility. A short disclaimer, and reason why I'm closing this thread: this forum cannot allow any illegal activity. We simply must to isolate ourselves from any legality issues. That said, I think you can probably find someone with a private pond, which should be kosher. They should acclimate well. Look online for temp/pH acclimation for new fish in tanks, and use that process for them. Good luck, I hope you figure it out.
  14. Pretty sure the consoles are the same.
  15. https://www.fishfindermounts.com/product-page/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit This looks pretty cool, and I'll be trying it out soon. A friend in another forum turned me onto this, and it looks much more ideal than the deployment arm I've using for years. Anyone seen this, or used it? It's about twice the price of a good arm kit, so it isn't inexpensive. The magnet seems like it gives you lots of mounting location options that an arm doesn't. They are not a sponsor, and I have no affiliation, other than being VERY interested, and will likely try this out this year.
  16. Enjoy it. When you hit 40, everything will start to ache.
  17. Spoken in David Attenborough's voice.
  18. Anything over 4 is gonna get a photo op, green or brown.
  19. Mike's is in Canada, FYI. I usually order straight from Daiwa.
  20. It's not. It's a standard #0 Phillips. I've removed and replaced 100s of them. As @.ghoti. posted, heat it up if you can't get it out. I like Wiha or Wera tools. Nice job getting the stripped head out! Definitely order this part, you don't want to use anything other than OE for this. I reseat the screws with Loctite blue.
  21. Wherever water is wet.
  22. I have a few chatterbaits, and over 100 spinnerbaits in inventory.
  23. There was a thread with this last week. Meh. I've actually got some fluoro I'm testing that stretches *more* than typical mono. Stretch is not a major consideration when choosing fluoro/mono type lines. If it was, I'd be using braid.
  24. The brush jig heads are my favorite. They great in almost all cover.
