  1. They figure their way back out, lol. I still can't believe you're wasting bacon on this. That's a crime in some places!
  2. Maxscent is similar to Gulp! but a newer formula. They aren't the same. Seems easy enough to leave bait in the bags they came in, but that must be a problem for some. Leaving baits in the package avoids a list of other problems as well, like colors bleeding, deformities, and let's not start with what happens when you leave a Z-Man bait out! It's just a good general practice. Plus, when you want to make a quick trip to a pond or creek, you just have to grab your favorite bag of plastic baits, cram them in your pocket, and head out.
  3. This is what you need to do, and is typically what is best for any brand of soft baits, especially scented baits.
  4. Is there some private venue you two can take your lovers' quarrel? Otherwise, drop it. For the OP, try the exact same bait and reel on a medium power rod. I bet it works better for you.
  5. You didn't get a test drive?
  6. The 50# braid is what I've been using and it works as well as any of the dozen or so others I've tried.
  7. Two things: Get a faster boat Fish a different club
  8. Black Sabbath's first album.
  9. Retail at a tackle store. Cook at a seafood restaurant. Dockhand at a marina. Mate on a charter.
  10. Cut off when storing, tie up when fishing.
  11. Honestly, it’s d want more than one kayak, a larger boat, and a tin can tiller. Forgot to mention, I also have a pontoon. I only go out with the in-laws with it, lol.
  12. That it a great question! I had two bass boats and three kayaks at once. I was fishing traditional club tournaments and opens, so obviously I went bass boat there. I also did some online kayak tournaments, so kayak there. For recreational trips, it really came down to the water I wanted to fish. I would not want to try and fish out of Buffalo Harbor with a kayak, though many do. There are times when it was easier to dump a kayak in Ontario for a quick trip, since it is dive minutes away. I honestly don’t have a preference, though I’d rather have a kayak than nothing. I’ll probably always have a few, even if I own a boat. In fact, I’m looking for a new boat in the next year or so, but it won’t be a bass boat. More likely a larger bay boat. I’ll still have the kayaks, especially going to a bigger boat. Hope that helps give you some insight. I bet @Bluebasser86 would have a good take on this too.
  13. I had a very similar rowboat to that as a teen. You have fancier seats - I used lawn chairs, lol. I think if you wanted to take a rod and make some casts while in the kayak, you could easily add a rod holder, and keep it simple. Since you have a boat to fish, I think you'd have to develop a real passion for kayak fishing to warrant a fishing specific kayak. Seems like you have all the toys you need to enjoy the water.
  14. Did you see if there are craws where you set it?
  15. My question as well. Also, where was the reel stored after it got wet? Is it still wet? That quick a dunk is usually less harmful than using it in the rain.
  16. I don't care for a very high speed reel, but I also don't like a slow reel either. Something around 28-30 IPT is comfortable for me. This usually means a 6.x:1 reel. In rare occasions when I really need to burn it, I've jumped up to a 33 IPT reel.
  17. As an Agile coach, I've facilitated a few RCA meetings. They're only really fun when people start pointing fingers, lol.
  18. I know this about fishing, but I do believe courage can be practiced, and that you can get better at it.
  19. I generally have no issues with fluoro. I use 4# through 100# for various applications. It might help to know, I also don't have issues with most braided, fused, coated, copolymer, or traditional mono. There have been some specific brands that I just couldn't trust because they broke at a much lower strength than the diameter would suggest, didn't hold a knot, or were plain unruly on the reel. Those lines number in less than a half dozen. I used to do a demonstration with my lecture partner, Paul at fishing shows. We both tied a palomar knot to a hook using 6# Invisx. Mine would usually break a little over 7#, his sometimes less than 4#. Then he tied his "favored" knot, and he'd get over 6#. Practice your knots, and check them, whatever line you use. I don't think I'm some sort of knot tying guru, but I do think the long winters of geeking around the basement with fishing gear may have helped.
  20. Why do you have to? What are you confirming?
  21. Reminds me of the wiper transmission in my truck. Changing it is a 15 minute job, unless it freezes in mid wipe. Then you have to cut something. 00:16 - this can be you.
  22. This pretty much describes how to be good at tournament fishing, other than not fishing them. It's ironic, I know.
  23. Mixing Huk with Columbia - like putting a Shimano on a Daiwa rod ?
  24. Just use a paper clip to wire up whatever piece of meat. I've never heard so much discussion about trapping craws, lol. It's not a science. It's pretty simple, but you have to just go out and do it. Let's see some pics of your crab catch.
  25. A neoprene reel cover is less than $10, and probably a wise investment.
