  1. Since we're talking Dshad, I'll add that it's a great bait on a punching Jika rig, fishing the emergent water willow on Oneida for big green fish in summer. I'm not usually a color guy, but *cough-cough* watermelon red/blk flake (208) is nice up there. Like I and others said, this style bait is super versatile.
  2. Rattlin' Raps?
  3. They're waterproof, and attached. The graph would be my LAST worry if I somehow managed to flip.
  4. "Your Raging Paws are all over the counter!!"
  5. I just put my 7 ah battery in a 1.5 L dry bag and run the cord out the corner. Make sure you roll it up at least three times. Never any water issue, even in a downpour.
  6. Rage Craw in Bama Craw
  7. Please leave your other species posts in the proper forum.
  8. "Hey Fred, I'm thirsty. You think this barrel full water with rotten barley and hops is okay to drink?" LOL.
  9. I'd be looking at a fully loaded 7-9" unit for that price. Pick your brand, they all do about the same thing at that price. I like Humminbird and Garmin. Sweet tinny, btw.
  10. Dude at the ramp: "Wow, if had entered your derby, I would have one!" Me: "That's awesome. Prove it. Here's my number. Give me a call, and I'll get you set up as a guest at our next event!" Very few even take up that offer. The ones that did, were gracious donors. A few stayed and joined the club. No one ever swept in and won that way.
  11. Any fish finder will work. What is your budget? Get that number, and start playing with some nits in the store, to see what brand suits your style. You'll want to weigh extra features such as SI/DI with screen size. I use standard sonar, DI, and GPS more than any other feature, so they are my must haves. All my units have SI as well, although I use that a little less. If it's down to a 5" screen with SI, or a 7" screen without, I'll go 7" most days. Try to have that conversation with yourself before buying. Be sure to consider the mapping - some units require a map chip, some have base maps, and some don't.
  12. A fluke style bait is an evolution of one of the most successful lures of all time: Slugg-o. The Slugg-o only fell out of favor when the Senko arrived, since it required even less effort to get bit. Keep fishing the fluke, you'll get bit. There's no fancy trick to it, and no wrong way to fish it.
  13. It would be weird that they didn't try to eat something like a crawfish.
  14. It also looks like they come in one foot increments. It's definitely not the best install. I wouldn't live with it.
  15. Because you didn't pony up. It's different. Try it sometime, you might be into it.
  16. If I had a nickel for every joe that compared their results to the actual contestants, I'd be rich. It's not a real comparison.
  17. Bass usually have manners. They chew with their mouth closed.
  18. Silly me, I did my research on the water. Makes no difference, so long as the power is appropriate for line strength used, and drag set properly. Caught this (and many, many more) with a M/XF and small treble hook Panther Martin Caught this (and many more) with a M/Mod and a siwash hook on a spoon: The tip about using a single hook is spot on. Works very well with inlines and spoons.
  19. Use a drop shot rig with a 4-6' dropper. Let the weight settle and then slowly dip your rod tip, to let the senko do its weightless thing for the last several feet. You'll waste a lot less time waiting for it to sink through empty water column, and you'll have batter accuracy where it drifts to. No special equipment - use the hook you always wacky rig with, but leave a long tag. Clip on a weight and go. It isn't even that important to run the tag back through the hook. This isn't as touchy as a DS rog.
  20. Drift socks are also fun when the breeze shifts or dies down, and they sink into the weeds. I'm just not a fan. They always caused more problems than they solved.
  21. I thought the steering and throttle cables went through a hole on the starboard side.
  22. I only use 1/8 on my normal sized rigs, and 1/16 on smaller, finesse sized rigs. Might try messing with the wires a bit.
  23. I'm sure it will work. I wouldn't that thing on my boat, tho - too bulky and in the way. You're anchoring plastic water toy, nit an offshore rig. Get a Yakattack Lever Loc anchor trolley, and something to wrap the line around. Drift socks...they work really well. When deployed properly, which isn't always easy. They tend not to catch, and fold up on themselves when you most need them. You will get wet pulling it in. I have three of them in various sizes. They were kind of expensive, and I bet I haven't used one in over five years. Then again I rarely use an anchor either.
  24. Tie it like this, then use a couple easy to break zip ties to secure the line to the anchor shaft. That way, you can get it back should it get stuck.
  25. Speeling is impotent.
