Looks like a bacterial infection that probably never cleared up. Could be from any number of things, including spawning.

Where’s all the guys that say line twist isn’t a problem with braid? It’s twist. Lots of preventative measures posted before me. Troll it out, and reel it back in under tension to get rid of the twist.
Not exactly, but they definitely aren’t inline either. The weight is free swinging which makes them far less weedless/snagless than most r-bend spinnerbaits.

@Glenn my parents had a '77 XR7 and you aren't kidding about the hood.
My first was a '77 Monte Carlo. Silver with a red interior. I called it the silver bullet.
It's like chasing ghosts, sometimes. I usually stick to my plan, unless I actually see something that resembles feeding bass. Otherwise, it's a distraction.
The conversation with my queen went similar, except we were at the boat show, and her requirement was a toilet onboard. She found a nice 25' bay boat with one that will work nicely for fishing, lol. I bought her her a ring, too.
