  1. I don't bother with anything less than 50# braid in casting gear. It's not for the strength, but for the handling characteristics.
  2. Pretty sure the NY record won't be beaten. The circumstances around it are way too sketchy, and the fact that it wasn't caught on public water makes me want to discount it altogether.
  3. If you plot out the huge fish catches in the Northeast, you'll see there's "corridor" that goes right through Mass. It also corresponds with herring range and them being the primary food source. Herring fed bass get big.
  4. I have a built in, small flat top on my range. We use it almost every day. Before that, I used an All Clad pan that was like a flat top, but non stick. It was about the size of a large cookie sheet, and covered three burners. I also used it outside on the charcoal grill. I'd love a small, dedicated, commercial style flat top in my kitchen.
  5. Lol, I used to have chicken feet hidden in the freezer for the dog. Not anymore.
  6. https://www.gamakatsu.com/product/finesse-wide-gap/
  7. Chocolate milk either means stay home or go upstream.
  8. Didn't get it, she came so fast. Labor was about 90 mins. She was born in triage.
  9. Do you have a main battery shut off or disconnect it when you let it sit? If not, I'd be looking for a small drain on the battery. My Bullet had a couple lighted toggles that wouldn't shut off, but that battery had a main shut off switch.
  10. You have kids, you know exactly what I have going on.
  11. Vodka, no toys, shaken violently.
  12. Ugh, I got sucked into a 7 year old thread. Probably best to start a new thread.
  13. Interested in a bridge for sale? Most builders have gone to a totally composite transom 20 years ago.
  14. What I'm hearing (from a pro, no less) is to deal with infestation first and then prevention with the cover.
  15. I'd ditch the hooks and never look back. I tried them for my classes with beginners and the hookup ratio was horrible. It was just the opposite of what I thought would happen. I was trying to avoid spending the time on the water helping with gut hooked fish. Started using these (what I've used for over 20 years) and the issue went away like magic.
  16. Well, I'm hoping it is just case of the seller having a lot of parts and just sent the wrong thing.
  17. Our old Alumacraft had something like this. I always assumed it was just some sacrificial part for the motor clamps to dig into.
  18. You should be able to hammer that in. ? I mean jeez, that's not even close! Any idea what it's out of?
  19. I had to drive to Long Island to get my Xpress. I never ever want to go there again.
  20. This is the problem, not the line. You do not use a hook set with circle hooks. They're meant for live bait, and you let the take the bait deep, then add pressure and the hook will catch in the corner of the mouth. All of this is counter-intuitive to fishing a plastic bait for bass, where the the bass sucks the bait in, you feel the tick, and sweep set the hook. Use something like a Finesse Wide Gap hook from Gamakatsu or Owner Wacky Hook that is the right size for the plastic bait you pick. I keep plenty of 1/0 and 2/0 from Gamakatsu when I'm fishing wacky rigs.
  21. Moth balls and dryer sheets always work for everything, save the one red squirrel that decided to fill my Bullet up with walnuts. I fed it tactical .22 cal pellets and he stopped.
  22. For less than $1k between the two, I'd just get the TE version, if I was going with Tracker. Since you're looking elsewhere, I'd recommend Xpress. I loved mine, and it was a big upgrade over any mod-V aluminum boat I'd been in. It was pretty fast too, with the pad hull. I miss that boat - should have never sold it.
