  1. I only use black weights. I am more concerned with my purse matching my shoes and belt.
  2. There's a ton of entertaining videos of undersized tow vehicles at boat launches doing all sorts of funny things.
  3. I would not use one to tow anything beyond a small aluminum boat. 200 miles is a long way - more than three hours driving. I'd want a half ton pickup with the largest drivetrain package along with the towing package which usually includes a trans cooler and upgraded brakes.
  4. A kayak is a vehicle to get off the shore or get to a place not accessible from shore, just like any other boat. Like every other boat, there are compromises. A kayak brings portability, lower expense, and a different, more connected type of fishing to the fold. They aren't for everyone, but for many they work well. I'll always have a few kayaks to fish from. The last ten years, models designed for fishing are quite good at it.
  5. Fill the spool to 1/8" of the lip. Use backing to make up any difference.
  6. I think visibility is the wrong concept when thinking about line. Sometimes, ANY line of ANY diameter is noticed by the fish. Right down to the the line hitting the water at the end of the cast, or where the line enters the water. Some days it spooks them, some days they unfazed. Even others, they are attracted to it. Otherwise, I weight fishing the bait effectively in the cover present higher than any visibility factor. I've caught fish on 80# braid in crystal clear water.
  7. I don't want the extra hardware. I skewer the bait on the hook in the proper fashion.
  8. It's a different bait. I keep little pinch on bullet weights that are probably 1/16 oz. for times when wind kicks up and keeps my senko from sinking. For wacky jigs, I pretty much never use a senko. The bait is a thinner finesse worm, and responds better to gentle input to the jig. A pinch on weight doesn't do the same thing.
  9. Any weighted hook used to rig a bait is called a "jig." Sounds a little complicated. I just go out and fish them. They are different than a wacky or neko. All will catch. Outside of pre-spawn, I generally use a wacky jig, not a neko or wacky rig. I feel a lot more connected to the bait, and can tell better where it is and when it gets bit. It takes some practice to get good with it, like any other bait, so you may have to put in the time.
  10. Wear what you want to keep you warm underneath what you wear to keep you dry. Adjust for temps.
  11. I like the Zappu Inchi jigs. Very sharp!
  12. A color chirp graph with GPS and a good map chip is really all I need for electronics. Everything else is gravy, though SI has really started slipping into must have.
  13. Pretty much anyone that has owned neoprene has switched to breathable. Trying to save you a few bucks. They're terribly uncomfortable.
  14. $5k is max on this boat. I would offer $3500. Its a VERY old boat. I'd more apt to buy a tin boat with an unfinished interior for more, if it was in clean, good running condition. There are a ton of mysteries in an elaborate bass boat, and tons of opportunities for failures.
  15. They're pretty simple. Change them every year. I think they were less $50 a filter. Well worth it.
  16. I wacky jig a lot more than wacky rig, and I often use a different bait. Usually it's a slimmer, finesse style worm. My 2nd biggest LMB came on a wacky jig Flick Shake worm.
  17. All my boats have a fuel/water separator filter. I highly recommend it.
  18. 11 years ago....
  19. Reminds me of Slap Chop Vince.
  20. Those are neoprene. They're not great. I use breathable in single digits. It's what you put on underneath that counts.
  21. I would just leave slip fitted so I could pull it out once the boat is strapped in to the boat.
  22. I've fished Richmond Mills Lake. Those fish are well fed and grow big. Pretty interesting day on the water. I'm not sure it's worth the $1200 per day rate, but if you are looking for a guaranteed good day with nice fish, you'll get it.
  23. What is the long pipe perpendicular to the axle for?
  24. Wacky jig is different than a wacky rig, though. I agree, a wacky jig works great, often better than an unweighted plastic.
  25. Wacky rigging and heavy cover are two things I don't ever mix together. What's wrong with using a weedless z-bend worm hook?
