Typically, it's an EVA butt cap that is the issue. Cork, metal, resin, or burl cork doesn't seem to do it. Doesn't matter the grip style for me. My LTB rods do this.
I'm just gonna throw my $.02 in drip rings, since dripping came up. For over a decade I would have said they all suck. The rings on my AT Oracle actually work, and work well.
It's your height combined with your technique. It always is. I've had a lot of students come through. The ones that don't adjust to a better technique use much longer paddles. Sometimes that technique leads to joint issues later.
Not sure what height has to do with paddle length, unless you're paddling from over your head. Not too many body types that don't allow you to form a box grip and drop it to just above your lap. If you feel like you need a longer paddle, try it. 99% of the time it isn't necessary.
Could you see them? This is something I figured for bedding fish, but maybe it would help.

North of 6 and south of 8. I have more of those reels than anything else and they're pretty much interchangeable. The faster reels (a couple are 41 IPT) are for very specific things. As are the slower 3-5 : 1.
I kind of have to relearn some feel things when slowing way down. Things feel differently when your bait goes bump in the water. It probably doesn't make sense. I have a range of reeling speed that I work best in, which is why I use many different gear ratios. Yet other techniques, gear ratio doesn't matter. I've used from 5:1 to 10:1 for jerk baits and spooks. It takes about a minute to adjust.
