  1. That's a creek chub, and not a bass. They will bite live and artificial baits.
  2. I don't do the gym, but I still go skateboarding (halfpipe and bowl), play drums, kayak, etc.... BUT reach for something over my shoulder and I might be in pain for a week. Not bad for almost 50.
  3. Somewhere in my late 40s this became a big issue. I do not reach for things awkwardly at all for just that reason. It takes several trips to the chiro to reverse whatever it is I did. Middle age sucks in this regard.
  4. Does everyone think a Texas rig always lands hook side down?
  5. Probably yes Seriously, this just a personal taste thing. I put the hook through the side that is lighter, or has the hook groove.
  6. Did you make it pay? Revenge is pretty sweet, lol.
  7. Declinism, euphoric recall, Fading Affect Bias...all reasons living in the past isn't really a healthy thing. Remember polio, inequality, bigotry, pollution, who knows what else? Thinking about things that aren't happening right now is not on my agenda. It's a very unhappy perspective to think that nothing is as good as it is right now. I prefer to live in this moment and make the best of it. Someone should start a thread about that: what awesome thing are you gonna do today?
  8. I have the power. Fixed it
  9. BASS affiliation will give you access to discounted insurance.
  10. Tatsu is a relatively thin diameter line. I use a lot of 12 and 15 lb. line, so 12 is my answer for you.
  11. I kind of crouch, and waste no time getting to the fish. This is a larger northern pike I'm landing.
  12. A Vanford is an obvious, but good choice. A lower priced option is the Okuma ITX Carbon. For Daiwa, there is the Ballistic MQ LT.
  13. Fish will likely be in the usual spots at the usual activity levels. The types of cold fronts that really do anything are like 30-40 degree drops, with a shift in wind direction, and so much rain that it lowers the water temps. Even then, it usually only affects the shallow fish. Deep fish don't seem to care. I think the only change I'd make is slow down.
  14. You should look up his story - plenty has been written. It is fascinating and inspiring.
  15. I'm talking about the vultures that sit on the ramps where all the tournaments dump their catches. On Oneida, that would be the Oneida Shores ramp, for instance. There's three dozen other launches on that lake as well. The point is, while a boat launch is indeed a good piece of structure that definitely has it's resident fish, the catching your fish where literally thousands of fish are dumped off isn't really a skill. I was going to bring him up. He was the one exception to the rule, and actually did it. Tragic ending, though.
  16. It's really the only reason I'd ever join again. I've been an officer in a club and heard their dog and pony about benefits, and really all I saw was an insurance salesman. So, between that and some crazy path to the Classic, they don't offer a ton.
  17. I'd just flush the bearings, and use a quality oil like TSI 321, Bantam Oil, or Oust Metol.
  18. Not really.
  19. Our club had a rule to prevent this. No fishing 500' from the ramp. Fishing the ramp is bush league.

  21. Nolan fits that description of someone that puts their money where their mouth is. He's also just a hoot of a human being. Proud to be acquainted with him through this site.
  22. That is an amazing story and a perspective that would have never occurred to me. Thanks for sharing it. It's rare to hear something you haven't heard. Even my story is pretty much the same as many. It's uniqueness reminds me of a friend's story. He was in the Middle East teaching English as a second language and was abruptly deported and eventually sent back here. It took him a couple of months to actually see the gravity of it all.
