  1. Okay, I'll bite: what IS going on here?
  2. But actually...does outlast count as outperform? This is over 30 years old.
  3. I keep a nice set of linesman pliers in my kit.
  4. Doesn't matter, friends don't let friends use snap swivels.
  5. I really miss this company's bass products. They just didn't seem to get a foot hold. Their stuff was top notch, and they were a classy company to deal with.
  6. Not successfully. There's plenty of "frog rods" that are great at throwing frogs, but only a few that have the power to extract a big fish from the cover that you throw frogs into. For years, I used my 7-6 XH flipping stick, which was perfect. Later I switched to a heavy/fast jig and worm rod that was a little shorter at 7-3. It's a high end rod, and very light and comfortable to use all day. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing_lures/primmus-reel-dhc-7-rod-review.html
  7. Sounds like we had similar teachers, I know that trick. It's how I know not to mess with anything more than 15 amps. Its also AC. Car batteries and wiring is another story. I don't get near that stuff. I always think of 3/4 way relays and switches like a plumbing valve. It helps me get my head around what's going on. It's when you get into a three wire deal like a ceiling fan with a light I get screwed up and need my tester to figure out what's going on.
  8. Most of the circuits in my house are 15 amps, so they really don't hurt, mostly annoying. Get nailed with something higher, like what's in the kitchen, and it does not feel good. I got nailed through both arms across my chest in my early 20s, and it was terrifying. Threw me off a ladder across the room, and arc welded the pliers I was using. That was the last time I trusted anyone when I asked if they killed the juice. I can do some basic stuff, like add a circuit, run lines, wire outlets, switches, lighting, but I MUST have all the juice off. All of it. I watched my guy add a GFCI in my old house to a live box, and I was like, uhhh....NOPE! Always have a pocket tester at the ready when your about to do anything electrical, and know if you're dealing with a hot line, so you can disconnect it.
  9. Actually, the logo causes the fish that bite to be 43% bigger.
  10. Nose hooked fluke
  11. Hook style would be more an taper thing for me. The bigger and thicker the hook, the faster the rod should be. I want to tap into the power section of the rod as soon as possible when setting the hook. This is why I want an extra fast taper for spinnerbaits - no delay in hook penetration.
  12. you umpto?
  13. Line diameter matters little in the world of spinnerbaits. It just needs to be strong enough.
  14. Fishing all over the east coast, I've found there are similarities just about everywhere. The only thing that really changes is that people talk funny the further south I go.
  15. I simply enjoy watching metered line pay out as I cast. It's mesmerizing, lol.
  16. Opinion? I like broccoli. Keep them all and add to your collection.
  17. I think you might be overthinking it a bit. I tie a bait on a medium power rod, and if it doesn't feel right, I go to a medium heavy. Or the opposite. It's nice to have a small selection of rods with various powers and tapers so you can find the one that suits the bait and your casting style. It's a really subjective feel kind of thing that no accurate measurement will solve. It sounds like you're on the right track, though. Good luck.
  18. Old Timer Session starts back up at BFS on 10/10. I'll be there. http://www.breakingfreeskatepark.com/
  19. This 100%. Set the chirp sonar to 83 Hz and you should be able to see it just fine. If you are deeper than 20' you can go to 200 Hz and see it. I can see the weight and bait on my drop shot as two straight lines if it's a bit off the bottom; one line on the bottom. A jigging spoon should appear as a zigzag line on the bottom, with each rip a vertical line and the fluttering descent an angled line.
  20. No, due to variability in hardware and trailers, it's fair to say that if you have a question about a bait's mass, put it on a kitchen scale and get a measurement. I prefer the $20 price point, since they're usually waterproof. There are less expensive options.
  21. Not really at all. Even Nitro made one. It's a great big water configuration, and it's also preferred for high speed boats. Allison and Bullet still make them:
  22. @Siebert Outdoors has top quality weights for really reasonable prices: https://siebertoutdoors.com/products/ols/categories/tungsten-tackle--weights-punch-rigs-etc
  23. I'm with the Megastrike people.
  24. It's not my preference for cranks but it's what I would use for almost anything else you mentioned.
  25. You can generally recoup 30-50% selling on the flea market. Take pics of it, make bundles, price them. Be willing to negotiate. Use PayPal and send them USPS.
