It's getting more popular by the minute. I do like a shorter handle rod for topwaters like spooks and poppers, but I don't have any special kayak rods. I think the notion is as much marketing as the technique specific rod thing. If someone likes shorter rear grips, then they like them. I have no need for them.
Anyway, to answer the original question, I use a Saint Croix AVC62MXF. It is barely an inch shorter than the same spec 6' 6" version in front of the reel seat. It just has a shorter rear grip.
