  1. When I was your age I often fished in the creeks like you talked about,a creek that normally runs 3 to 6 feet deep should hold some good fish, like everybody said downsize your baits and if that don't work try old school and drop a live minnow on a fiberglass pole and let it work downstream if there are fish in it,and I bet there are they should hit it.That should give you a good idea of what type of fish are there and how big they are.
  2. I do a lot of night fishing on the Tennessee River(Guntersville and Wheeler lakes)and I normally go out on a brightly lit moonlit night and throw topwaters like the Devil's Horse,Tiny torpedo or a big Jitterbug all in black.I donot use any light which would interfere with my night vision.
  3. Try the Goose pond area between Scottsborough and Guntersville friends have caught some nice bass around there.
  4. You might want to also try Jim Burks his website is bassingadventures.com he will put you on the bass on Lake Guntersville especially around Goose Pond
  5. I believe it is a little early for the bass to be going on the beds.I fish the Tennessee river just about every weekend and I have not seen any evidence of the bass being in any type of spawning activity either in Wheeler lake or Guntersville. However I have never fished Dream lake so I don't know anything about it.Good luck to ya.
  6. Small tube jigs under a float.
  7. I just use a 1/8 oz. unpainted round head jig with a small tube in it in blue/charteuse,black /pink or black/yellow.The trick when fishing jigs is fish them S l O W and about 1 foot above where you find fish if fishing from a boat and about 1 foot off the bottom if fishing off the bank. GOOD LUCK!! Bamadan Also try drift fishing with a float this time of year.
  8. That is how we do it on the Tennessee river.Spider rig with 1/8 oz jigs and tube baits.I have caught 145 since the 2nd week of Feb. the trick is to set the poles spread out so you have a small channel between corks and swim the crappie in that channel to the boat.
  9. Lake Talquin is a excellent bass lake for me,I caught my personal best out of it10lbs 9ozs.Try shiner fishing in the upper end of the lake around Coes landing.Lake Jackson in Tallahasee has developed a sinkhole and is almost dry.If you fish the Tallahasee area you might want to try Lake Mickosukee or Lake Iamonia with BIG Shiners.I also caught my biggest bass on flyrod out of Lake Iamonia,7lbs2ozs.Hope this helps.
  10. Last year, while fishing a wildcat tourney at Browns creek my partner and I weighed in 7 fish weighing at 39lbs9oz. We caught them by running 3/8 ounce spinnerbaits in white and chartruse over the grass, which was about 2 feet under the surface of the water. The bass would come up out of the grass and explode on the bait.
  11. I fish Guntersville a lot and before I got my new boat I fished it in a 14 foot flatbottom so you should have no problem in either of the boats you described
