  1. Looked up clearing cache on iPad. It said to clear history and cookies and data. I did both, twice, but had no luck. Each time the site still does the resizing thing. I can live with it I guess. It was annoying at first because it does not do this on the wood working sites I visit. It was causing me to enter forums and click things I wasn't trying to hit at first because it would load the site and I'd think it was done so I'd tap the screen, only to see I'd hit something else that had jumped up in front of me instead.
  2. In the middle of all this tackle porn someone was bound to have a reel orgy sooner or later.
  3. That is a really good price on the Chronarch E!
  4. Every time I come to the forum on my iPad, the main forum page resizes itself three or four times before it stabilizes. Then when I enter one of the topic specific forums from there, that one then resizes itself once or twice before stopping as well. Last night I was here on my PC and didn't see this happen one time. Now I'm here on the iPad again and it's doing it. It's driving me nuts. Edit....I just posted this and it resized itself twice before it was done. Then clicking to edit, it did it again.
  5. I couldn't care less about sports. I'd rather fish than anything else.
  6. I love my Dodge Ram but I have a Hemi V-8 gas engine in mine. Never owned another truck I liked so well though.
  7. I think of these as very tight budget rods. If you want a rod that's just a knock around and will throw a line and bring a bait back, these will do it. But for sensitivity, they will be limited compared to rods in the upper price ranges. What kind of line do you have on it? That will make a difference too.
  8. Ah, good ole back yard bassin'! Love it! Every single first cast (up through about 20) on any reel I buy is right out back in the high grass that needs cutting from where I skip it to go fishing for real.
  9. I started buying Extremes a year before the current model Pro Qualifier came out. I bought 5 in all. Originally I figured the PQ reels would be no better than my older Extremes since the basic design was nearly identical except for the dual brakes. I had a couple of Extremes that, for no reason I could see, got rough feeling in the retrieve. I figured it was the gears. One was literally brand new still. I thought the Pro Qualifier would be just an ok reel at best based on this. But I have 3 other Extremes that are still smooth after all that time, and two of those have been used a good bit and are now 4 years old with no problems. One of the two original Extremes that got rough was about three years old and had moderate use before it began to show rough signs. Maybe I just got one bad one out of five, and another one that didn't remain like new over time like I wanted. It drove me nuts for awhile though and I never tried a Pro Qualifier because of that. But after about five years of the current model PQ being out and reading tons of good stuff about it, along with Goose's ongoing five year review of the reel (where what he's doing to it, I would consider almost insane abuse compared to my own use of reels), I am going to try one now, probably get 2 actually. It gets rave reviews from just about everybody that tries one.
  10. For me, a Citica. I like the way the Orra feels in hand but I've never fished it and I don't like the way the braking works with 3 on always. I've never fished the new Citica either but I have the older Citica E and it is very good, I really enjoy fishing mine. The brakes can be on or off, all six at once, or zero, or anything in between. I don't believe the new G model is any different mechanically than the old one and it was very comfortable in hand and mounted on a rod, even if just slightly larger than the E was.
  11. It's a baitcast combo. My flyer doesn't say how long the sale lasts on that specific item. All I can find is that it says Feb. 22 to Mar. 10 for the sale in general.
  12. Hmm.....whatever. Anybody ever think of buying a $8 Zebco 202 and trading it in for the credit and thereby profiting the difference if you otherwise don't have a reel to trade in? I just might want two of these reels but I only have one to trade.
  13. That's hilarious. I worked retail for 12 years and I don't miss it one bit. People would complain about any little tiny thing they could even if they knew they were wrong.
  14. Yeah it's on the 22nd. That bionic combo is $70. Also saw they have a Nitro baitcast reel and the Enigma baitcast reel, both of which are advertised with aluminum frames, both on sale for $50. Reels only.
  15. I'm trading in an old Extreme that I really never used beyond a few trips since the gears showed signs of roughness that I was never able to solve with cleanings and lubings. Better to get a reel I'll use instead of having one virtually new in the box here I don't use at all. BPS said years ago right after I bought it that they'd make it good but the design of the reel changed and I'd be sent the newer version with the swept handle that I didn't want since my others I had at the time were all straight. I didn't want one that didn't match the rest, but I was never able to get over that rough feeling and just stopped using that one. I still have three others that I do use. That's how I ended up with a nearly mint reel to trade in. So I'm just giving it back to them, minus two handle bearings I added to one of the others to make that one a nine bearing reel. I put the bushings in the handle of the one I'm trading in which just makes it a 5 bearing model, the same as it was when first released, and it works just fine that way so no harm done. My only trouble is I have no idea what ratio PQ to get but thankfully I could use whatever one I end up with regardless so I guess I really only need to worry about them being in stock.
  16. If someone is just getting started or wants a second rod, maybe a backup rod, or isn't sure if baitcasting is for them and wants to save some on their first purchase, then the new Bionic casting combo for $70 could be worth a look. The reel is an aluminum frame, and 6 bearings. Don't know how good the rod is but usually you don't get a baitcaster with an aluminum frame for that price (other than the PQ deal going on that is).
  17. My wife has been fishing, caught pretty good fish too, but prefers hook, bobber, and worm fishing for bluegills over bass fishing with lures. She will not take the fish off the hook though. She will bait her own hooks, but not touch a fish. She did it once for me to prove she could but never again since. Says the fish moving in her hands makes her queasy feeling. She also says I move the boat too much using the trolling motor for her to really want to fish. She wants to anchor down and spend 45 minute in front of one lay down tree just bobber fishing about 20 feet away. I can't stand that. She goes with me often but doesn't fish much anymore. She just lays in the back of the boat reading, crocheting, napping, or whatever, as long as its not too cold, or extremely hot (she will tolerate high 80's temps though). She doesn't rush me to be done, but she's still always ready to go before I am, I'd stay from morning to after dark if I could. She also won't go with me after about September. I'll fish anytime, even in snow if the wind isn't too bad to make the wind chill unbearable.
  18. The price is definitely right on A rigs. The original Manns are only $10.
  19. I got my flyer in the mail today for the spring classic sale. Just a heads up, they're on sale for $80 but with the reel trade in program you can get them for $65. Looks like I'm finally going to be trying one of them.
  20. Well, it is an ugly stick now. Actually more like a fugly stick.
  21. That was awesome. Those animals do know when they're being helped, and I'm sure they do try to communicate gratitude afterward in the way that one did.
  22. I'd still pet it. My mother-in-law has one with a face like that. Not sure what breed it is but it has hair like a mop, a short stubby nose, bug eyes, and just looks hideous, but it's lovable and likes to sit on your lap and be rubbed so I do every time I go visit. I saw one I'd like to have recently. It was called a Jack in the Box. It's a cross between a Jack Russell and a Boxer. It looked like a miniature boxer with more coarse hair and a very pronounced underbite. That dog was cool looking.
  23. Ok. I'd be interested in trying a new finish to further my learning in this other hobby. Thank you.
  24. Thanks all. I'm a novice wood worker as my other hobby away from fishing. I didn't consider any oil finishes since, first, I've never used any so I didn't know how it would work out, and second, I am afraid of how it might effect any of my rod handles such as soaking into them from prolonged contact. I was just going to do a stain and then two or three coats of Varathane. That's a hard wood floor sealer and very durable. It dries clear and is very smooth to the touch when fully cured so I thought it would be excellent for contact of any of my rods. I have about 3/4 of a gallon left here from when I built my basement stairs and finished them. It gets applied to most of the furniture I make so I figured I'd just use it here, too.
  25. That was the ugliest dog I've ever seen.
