  1. Ok, so hear me out... If I needed the most sensitive rod avaliable, I would probably try a pflueger lady trion or something along those lines. I know women can be very sensitive, so if my hunch is correct, a ladies rod would also have to be pretty sensitive? Maybe worth a shot.
  2. None. We cancelled Directv last September. Can't pick up any antenna channels. Realized we were all watching way too much tv. Now, 7 months later, we really don't miss it much at all. Plus, I have about $85-$90 more per month to buy fishing stuff and get out and do stuff with the family. Also, more time to get chores done around the house, so I have more time to fish. We pick a few used family movies for cheap and watch those when we do watch something. It took about a week to adjust. Anyone who has been thinking about it, I highly recommend it. I don't see us ever getting sattelite/cable again. Not once has my daughter said "hey dad, you remember that tv show we watched that one time?" But, she will recall fish she has caught and camping trips we have been on all the time. I want to make more memories for her like those. This is one of the main reasons we made the decision. This is not intended to be a rant or anything. Just my two cents on the subject.
  3. I did not receive my $100. Please resend and I will post a copy of my TW receipt showing what I purchased.
  4. I purchased a Lew's baitcaster to try out earlier this year. I was so impressed, I immediately sold off all of my Shimano's and replaced them with Lew's. Up to that point, all I used was Shimano. I couldn't be happier with the Lew's. I highly recommend them.
  5. I still use them mainly for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. My favorite is a BPS Tourney Special. I have caught several fish on it. Nothing like catching a good one on a shorter rod. I have plenty of longer, non pistol grip rods, but this is my favorite rod to catch them on without a doubt.
  6. Been using one of these for a couple of years now. Works great
  7. My tracker 175 txw came with a 46lb motorguide. It does just fine. I usually have it set on 2 or 3 and it will run from sun up to sun down with no problems. Hope this helps.
  8. If you are not sure, just take the wheel and hub off. the bearings will fall out, and on the side of the bearing will be the part number that you can take to any parts store and match up. Be sure to check the races as well. If they need to be replaced, the part number should be in the same place on them as well. When I chance out the bearings, I always change out the races as well just to be sure. Also, don't forget new seals. Hope this helps. Good Luck! By the way, how is your truck doing?
  9. Hey BassChump, I just came across this post. Man, I have been waiting on this one for a few weeks. That fish is AWESOME. Definitley bigger than anything I have cought this year...so far. I have had not had much of a chance to fish with the baby coming in about a week. Looks like when I get back on the water, I will have to hit you up for some fishing advice. Once again man, NICE FISH. Keep it up!
  10. I am not a mechanic, but I was always told that putting too much oil in your motor is worse than not having enough. I was told that if you have too much oil in it you run the risk of blowing out the seals. I am not sure if that is what is causing your truck to jerk around or not, but I would definitely drain it out and put 6 quarts back in it. When all else fails check your dipstick. Good luck.
  11. I bought a new loomis rod from them a few months ago. Shipping was pretty slow, but it was advertised and a great deal. If you don't mind the wait, go for it.
  12. Sorry all this had to happen. My wife dropped off the the trolling motor at a stores that ships FedEx. She paid the money to have it shipped out and to have it packaged because I did not have a box big enough. There was a line behind my wife and the lady told her they would package it up as soon as they were able to. I guess that is what we get for not watching her box it up. She was supposed to wrap it up with bubble wrap and pack it tight in a box. But my wife did not watch her do it. So it obviously did not happen. I just got off the phone with the store that sent it. The owner will be in at 2pm. I am going there to explain the situation to her and see what can be done. I know BassChump soes not want to file a claim because that would mean another 2 weeks minimum of being off the water. Plus, with it being a used trolling motor (I do not have any proof of value since it was a gift) they would probably not even pay enough to purchase another used trolling motor. This burns me up. I could have drug that thing behind my truck and it would have arrived in better condition than that. Once again, I am sorry for all of the hassle.
  13. Sorry to hear that man. I had them box it up at the FedEx store since I did not have a box big enough. I am not sure if it had insurance on it, but I will check into it on Monday. I was hoping that you would post that you caught a boat load of fish.
  14. I am just glad I was in a position to help out. Sorry it took so long to get it shipped out, but you should have it by the weekend. Enjoy!
  15. Talk about kicking a man when he is down. I am very sorry to hear about your trolling motor and fishfinder being stolen. I know I would probably go crazy if I did not fish. I recently upgraded from a 40lb thrust MinnKota to a 55lb thrust. I have not gotten around to selling the 40lb thrust yet, and if you want it, its yours. It is used, but still in good condition with plenty of life left in it. If you can use it, just pm me your address and it will be on its way to you. My greatest memories of my dad are from the time we spent fishing together. I hope you will consider getting back out on the water to make some memories with your daughter.
  16. This may not be a possibility, but can you adjust the height of the bunks that your boat rests on? If so, you may be able to lower them a couple of inches and get the clearance you need.
  17. Just got the same setup Friday. 6'6" MH Carrot Stix and a 50mg. It is my new favorite setup. Light as a feather. You will love it.
  18. I am sort of a newbie here myself, but I will give you my input (take it or leave it). It sounds like you have done your homework. I do not see anything wrong with the setup. I primarily use shimano reels with g loomis rods. I have never used Pfluger reels or St. Croix rods, but many people here have with lots of success. Its like anything else, if you buy quality equipment and take care of it, you will not have any problems. I say go ahead and buy it and enjoy.
  19. That's awesome. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks alot for getting the pictures up so quickly.
  20. First off, I want to say that I have learned a ton of information from reading the forums. I don't do alot of posting because I can usually find the information I need by searching old topics. I recently purchased a new Basstracker. I have it parked in the garage, but had to move my old boat (a Lowe 1542v) outside. I am looking for ideas on how to construct a rigid boat cover frame for the Lowe that one person can put on and take off easily, and would keep water from pooling on the tarp. I have thought of making one out of 1/2" PVC or conduit, but I am not sure if these would be strong enough. I have looked at the boat cover support systems with the straps they have at BPS, but I think I can build something better. I am hoping that maybe someone has built something similar and could post some pics or maybe lead me in the right direction. I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
  21. I have a minn kota 12v 55lb bow mount with a size 27 interstate battery on my lowe 1542 and can fish 10 hours on speed 3 average with no noticable loss of power. I am not sure this is comparable to your pontoon, but this setup has not failed me yet. If you have the room, you might go with a 31 series battery. I do not believe they are much heavier. Oh, and I charge with a everstart 15 amp charger from Walmart. Hope this helps.
