  1. There are areas along the shore to fish, but not ideal because you can't cover a lot of ground that way. There are plenty of ramps. There's a nice one just above the dam on vermont side in Wilder, another small one here in Hanover, and others along the river heading further north (marked on state maps).
  2. Seems like there is a consensus on these two colors in the northeast. This helps A LOT... thanks!
  3. Thanks for the tip!... I know exactly where it is, but have never been up there nor fished it. And yes, that's the Wilder Dam right across the street from where you park for Boston Lot (in Lebanon). I usually fish above the dam, but I believe there is a boat launch in White River Junction, Vermont at the intersection of the white river and the connecticut river. Unfortunately, I can't find you a link to a map online. I'll post again if I can find one. Anyone else know where that one is?
  4. I'm tentatively planning to go on Saturday (Jan 12th). I've never been to it, but a friend who's been recommended checking it out. I will bring the boys along.
  5. Yes, great place to live. Lots of great outdoor activities and nice town with the college. Try fishing the CT river above the wilder dam if you get the chance. Smallmouth bass and walleye.
  6. Cory - Thanks for your advice. It makes sense that confidence and presentation is more important than color (just like that girls at the bar, but I never had much luck there ha ha ;D). And Glenn thanks for the pointer to the Senko FAQ page. I don't know how I missed that. That's an amazing piece of research. Great stuff! Your help is very much appreciated.
  7. Just read that other thread. According to the responses, it looks like every color under the sun works. I was hoping for easy answer Maybe my question should have been "under what conditions should you use which colors?" Am I correct in thinking it is better to use light/clear colors in clear water and darker colors with low visibility? Thanks for the tip on Winni -- yes, I fish there a lot. Great lake!
  8. thanks for the link, tin2win... I searched before I posted, but did not find that one (newbie mistake, sorry). Thanks, Lightninrod. The 222 color is on my list. Beautiful fish... nice pics!
  9. That's a great trip. Nice pictures! I usually go to Champlain when I get up that way. I'm going to have to try Bomoseen this year. I'll be the happiest guy alive if I have half as much luck as you did!
  10. The water is "hard" this time of year in New Hampshire. So, I am spending time stocking up the tackle box. In your opinion, what are best colors (and corresponding conditions) of senko worms? Like most lures, they come in dizzying array of colors. Sometimes I wonder if those colors catch more fisherman than fish. ;D Thanks!
  11. I was wondering if it was worth the extra $$$. Seems like the consensus is "yes"... I will have to give it a try. Maybe I can convince someone it will be a nice Christmas present FWIW... tungsten works great for pinewood derby cars, too. Denser (and safer) than lead.
  12. What are the smaller shows? Any in Vermont and New Hampshire? I know of Yankee Sportsman's Classic is good one in Burlington. I seem to recall one in Salem -- anyone know anything about that? Other good ones?
  13. I'm up in Hanover. The connecticut river is good for smallmouth and walleye (yes, walleye). Love to get to Lake Winni whenever possible. I am gettig geared up for the winter derby by the Rotary Club on Feb. 9&10. Biggest tagged rainbow wins a boat! ;D
  14. Google earth is nice. If you want to avoid installing software, try Google Maps (different product by Google). If has the street maps you'd expect and satellite images. Plus, they just added terrain maps. Here's the web address: maps.google.com However... there's no depth charts. Anyone know of (free) online maps with depth charts?
