Hello all, I'm having problems with my 2stroke 4hp Evinrude. Months ago, while on the lake the engine bogged, slowed significantly and generally sound "low". So I thought I might have lost a cylinder due to rusty looking spark plugs, so they got changed out along with the gascan/tubing/connection. Put it in a bucket and it seemed to idle great, sounded awesome when I increased the throttle, certainly better than when I bought it.
So me and my buddy head out to the local river, and while it sounded like an improvement at home, still had the same sluggish performance.
The strange thing is, and this is hard to explain...while under load with the throttle at half, the engine will "kick in" and run at what sounds to be "right and true" but only for seconds or less. Imagine, you're in your car driving at idle speed in "drive" and suddenly the car accelerates slightly (as if you stabbed the gas) then returns to regular idle speed. Now it does this intermittently and in rapid succession. Only when the throttle is at full does it seem to shake out the cobwebs and run at 1 constant, sluggish speed.
Any ideas?
