  1. Good luck with it, hope it brings many good memories.
  2. Congratulations! I guess that's your first kayak, right? Spend some time just getting used to it w/o your gear. Might be a good idea to tether your rod (at least at first) . Life jacket is another good thing to have, try not to bring more stuff than you are realistically going to use, have fun. Of coarse I don't always follow my own advice 'cause I bring my two BIG dogs with me.
  3. Looks too big for a copperhead, looks close to 5 ft. long right?

  5. Could be wrong, but I think it is a Northern Water Snake. They come in many different colors and will catch fish better than most people
  6. 2 lamb skins? Expecting company?
  7. I also have had some nice ones on BPS Topknocker. Too bad they stopped selling them. If you know of another source, please pass it on, down to my last one.
  8. Thanks for the reply. What's a meteorite going for these days, like I know what a good price is. :} By the way to me 01 isn't all that old for a truck, for me anyway.
  9. BPS makes XPS
  10. OK Pa, Where's the pictures????
  11. Not sure I'd want to be picking that thing up! :-?
  12. You have us curious now, at least I am. Keep us up to date, pictures would be appreciated. Careful with the pets if you have any.
  13. I've had good luck with BPS Top Knocker. It has a rattle, casts well, easy to walk. Think I paid 4 or 5 dollars for it. Might want to give it a try.
  14. I have an Old Town duck hunting kayak, and a big old aluminum canoe. I take my two dogs with me all the time, can't remember fishing w/o them for a very long time. Both are well behaved and love going. One is 75 pounds, one is 85 pounds.
  15. You can make your trailer of choice float by using a foam ear plug in front of your hook. Cut the foam just big enough to work with the size of your trailer. Experiment 'till your happy.
  16. I bet you made you're granny's day
  17. Top Knocker
  18. I have had good luck with Cabelas Prodigy round reel. Casts as good as anything I've used, even light lures, but the rod needs to be matched to lure weight just like any reel.
  19. Thats ingenious. That helps a lot, because like you, I do not have a scupper. Does it stay mounted pretty firmly? Yes it does. Plumber's GOOP is much stronger than silicone. Leave about 3/8-1/2 " of plastic on the cup to GOOP down. It's watertight, so there's nothing but water between the trans. and the hull. I have a portable Lowrance fishfinder that came with a suction cup mount for the trans. I removed the suction cup, attached the bracket to the plastic top of the Chinese food container. Fill it with water, snap it down, then remove it to take your FF home. The cup stays on the yak. I have another kayak I use, so I stuck another cup on that one. Have fun.
  20. I won't say this is the best way, but it works for me. I took a 2 cup Chinese food container, cut a hole out of the bottom,GOOPed it to the bottom of my kayak. Mounted the transducer to the lid, filled the cup with water, snapped the lid on. I did it this way for two reasons, I can take my set-up out with me, I also can use in my other kayak. Seems to work well. I didn't like the idea of leaving the trans. permanently attached to my kayak. I had no scupper either.
  21. Cabelas Prodigy round reel is on sale for less than $80. BPS Extremes are usually on sale too. I have had good luck with both.
  22. For small cranks the 6-6 1/16-1/2 Cranking Stick works for me, especially for 39.99. For plastics, with there single hooks, I like something heavier.
