An Abu Record is one looong casting reel. My Record 40 is the best caster with 1/4 and up lures.
I'm sure some of the newer reels are just fine, Lews and others, just never felt the need to try them.
The Cabela Prodigy round reel mag brakes work better than the Abu. JMO
As far as the Abu's
You'll never need to upgrade ? This place has stock, and better than stock bearings.

yeah those original Mann's jelly worms have done well for me, when you can find them.
My Record has a Binsky blade bait on it most of the time. Can really zing that thing a mile....well, almost ?
I have a 6" Mann's jelly worm on one of my Cabela's Prodigy most of the time. no trouble casting that. Mag control. The Record 40 is pretty good as well
going to be mid 90's for you today and tomorrow. if you're fishing in a pond/lake, maybe you can get your boat under the cover of trees? then cast parallel with the shore. fish will be looking for a cool spot too. and I don't mean Elvis cool either ?
You can modify they by taking a few strands of spinner bait type skirts, slide them threw a needle (just slip them through, no need to tie) then run the needle threw the body of your bait. Half on each side. Anywhere from 3-5 should do.
I hope I'm explaining this well. This will give your bait a little extra attraction.
Dick's in Ct. has really gone downhill in the fishing dept.
Used to have a good variety of stuff, not any more.
But they do have a lot of clothing and golf stuff......and not a lot of customers
yellow jackets I'm guessing? this time of the year they are pretty common. be extra careful with your pets. dogs will bite them, natural instinct. their throats can swell up dangerously. warn your kids too. they can nest in ground, in swing sets, just about anywhere.
Might be a good idea to keep Benadryl handy for your pets
Could very well be just a bad connection at the battery. pull off the terminal, and check for corrosion. resistance is heat. I've seen the same on my TM to battery connection. remove, clean, reattached, go fishin' ?
