  1. how about a tow behind container, something with a lid and holes in it for water flow, for the minnows? A smaller backpack type tackle holder will keep your stuff off the bottom of the canoe, that will always collect some water on it. Try not to bring any stuff you really don't need. Easier said than done. :-)
  2. very easy to change gears in the C series Abus. not very expensive either. There's a C-4 5600 w/mag control on e bay now. Two actually. great reels. JMO good luck, have fun! some might say the mag. control gets in your way. it does for about ten casts, until you are used to it.
  3. Well not to be a smart **** J. But after 3 times SOT options keep on coming up.
  4. OP's link shows a si kayak that swing down deal J Franco shows looks pretty cool
  5. Pretty neat Glenn. but it does leave the transducer exposed to damage, op has a si kayak, besides. If I had a so kayak I might be giving it a try.
  6. I have used a couple different methods on different kayaks, both work well. One is to use a suction cup mount and stick it to the side of the kayak as low as possible (keep it level). Just be careful when you get near shore or any obstructions to avoid damage to the transducer. Another method is a shoot through the hull idea. I took a plastic soup container, like you get from a Chinese restaurant. Cut the bottom out of it. Use a product called Plumber's Goop to glue it to the floor ( I put it behind me on a Wilderness systems SI kayak). When it sets up, it will be watertite, mount the transducer to the lid of the container. Fill the container with water, set the top/transducer in the water. You can easily take it out to take it home/inside. This method works better for me because I was always bouncing the suction cup deal off rocks/stumps or whatever. The transducer has no problem shooting through the hull. J Franco might have some ideas, or know of a mount you can buy, I just like the safety of mounting it out of harms way.
  7. I hear you, and the way the weather has been so far, you have to be prepared.
  8. I'm pretty sure if you go to the Toro website you can download the manual there.
  9. Better hurry up, big storm coming tonight : )
  10. I can't even get my avatar up since the new changes. I post dogs on Adopt a pet all the time by transferring them off my pictures file. Guess I have to put them on a web page to get them up here? You can tell I'm no computer geek, huh?Kayak is a Old Town Predator K140. Designed for hunting, has a huge amount of room, fore and aft. Very open cockpit,14+ ft. long, wide, slow, but very stable.
  11. You say she stormed out of the house like it's a bad thing. Seems to me like it's a perfect excuse for the both of you to "storm out of the house", and go fishing! : )
  12. lol, I can't even get my avatar up : ), anyway it's an Old Town K 140, used for hunting primarily I guess. You sit in the center with a lot of space front and rear. Both are well behaved ( I work with problem dogs from area shelters/pounds)Being so hunkered down, it's very stable. I can stand up in it w/o a problem. I live on a lake, so they get plenty of practice.
  13. I fish out of a kayak, but never fish alone. I always have my two dogs with me, one is 85lbs other is 75lbs. Wouldn't enjoy it w/o them. So I guess it's who you are fishing with.
  14. Hey buddy, love dem tubes huh! When I fish tubes weightless T style, I use them coilspring things (forget their name, hitchhikers maybe?) that you can hook on any size hook. They seem to hold very well. But what's really been good to me is Oldham's weedless jigheads. Again they have a built in coilspring thingy, and a wire-type weedguard that clips on the hook. They come in 1/8 and 1/4 oz. heads. I can drag/hop these through most any kind of weed w/o getting hung up. I got them at Dick's, but haven't seen them anywhere else. If you like I can send you some. I have got more on tubes this year than everything else put together for some reason. Not complaining at all.
  15. I agree with all that catt is saying, and add sometimes popping a lure free of weeds will trigger a strike. Sometimes it seems like the only time I get a hit on a lipless crank is when that happens, spinnerbaits as well.
  16. No skipping school, on the other hand, doing good in school might get him a nice reward. ; )
  17. I've never used one either, like you, no real reason. I have used most others out there. Surprised you use a straight shank worm hook, but if it's working for you, can't argue with that. I'll pick some up and give them a shot, like I need more plastics.
  18. Don't worry about it BC, nice fish, glad for your own piece of mind you weighed it with two scales. It'll will be a good memory for you and your Dad. Bet I know where you're gonna fish next time. : )
  19. Wow J, doesn't even look close to the same fish! Those Heritage kayaks are pretty nice, don't see too many around any more.
  20. Nice one! Hope you both can make it a regular thing.
  21. Didn't you get him a new reel recently too? Was that the one he was using?
  22. exactly, but get your dad some good line, will ya : )
  23. Nice 1! Two scales don't lie, BC wouldn't put the pic. up if he wasn't telling the truth. Bet you're gonna get your Dad some new fishing stuff come Christmas, some new line at least cheapy! Do you ever use circle hooks when wacky worming?
  24. My favorite worm, not too easy to come by.
  25. You are an artist, I still struggle with crayons 8)
