  1. Ordered a 6'6 med. falcon hd spinning rod from amazon for the wife. They sent a falcon hd 6'8 med. casting rod instead. Really tempted to keep it. I really don't have a ton of use for it but I love me some falcon rods and about half off is certainly a good deal. Even if I keep it for a year and just find no use for it I could most likely resell it for what I'll have in it. So what would you do? Keep it and order the correct rod again or send it back and exchange for the right rod? Like I said 6'8 med. mod fast rod. Rated 1/4 - 3/4 lures. I don't fish jerkbaits or topwaters very much but I throw 3/8 spinnerbaits all the time. I already have a pretty good spinnerbait rod or two or three though. I don't know, monkey says keep it. Lol. What would you do?
  2. Falcon hd 6'6 medium on Amazon for $46.00. Never held one but Falcon makes some pretty good rods. Nice combo for $90.00.
  3. I've used the hammer hogs and the keitech style swimbaits. I wish my local Walmarts carried the ribbon tail worms. They look like they would work.
  4. This was my thought as well. 15lb braid is pretty thin. Wouldn't take much of a gap to slip through or much roughness on the eye to damage the line.
  5. Lowrider is the correct answer.
  6. I've used the blue walmart supertech equivalent for a couple years with no problems. Just started using Superlube this year and so far it has been fantastic. Either way DVT knows his stuff. If he says your probably good, your probably good.
  7. Thats a great rod for $40.00 bucks, too. Nice little budget bank beater combo.
  8. Pretty much the same as iron and deleted.
  9. Primus. Fish on. Les is arguably one of the greatest bassers ever. Lol. See what I did there? I hear he is actually a pretty good fly fisherman.
  10. Arbor to spool, uni to uni to join lines if needed, and trilene to lure. 5-6 wraps for mono and fluoro and 7-8 wraps for braid. I leave an 1/8-1/4 inch tag end just in case. The trilene is pretty easy to tie, doesn't waste a lot of line, is strong, and the tag end isn't facing forward.
  11. I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Casio-AW80D-7A-Chronograph-10-Year-Databank/dp/B000GB0G02/ref=asc_df_B000GAWS9U/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312104441412&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2870111298194463014&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9015471&hvtargid=pla-434336323326&psc=1&th=1 Simple, cheap and they offer it in a few styles. Found mine at Walmart for about $20.00 8 or so years ago. Just had to replace the battery and band within the last 6 months. First time the battery needed replaced. Been a nice everyday/beater watch.
  12. The wife finding out how much I've spent on fishing... Just kidding, she knows. She knows everything.
  13. This logic has never made any sense to me. Falcon moved production to china so now I'm going to start fishing some other brand chinese made rod in protest. Lol. Falcon still makes (arguably) the best $100.00 and $130.00 rods you can buy. You are not going to find an American made rod for much less than $160.00 and the fit and finish most likely won't be good until you hit $200.00. Even then it might not be great. My Cashion is a fantastic rod but it won't win any beauty contests. Anyway I love my 6'10 lowrider spinning rod. Alot of folks might think the moderate action is to slow but with braid I have no problems setting hooks and it'll launch a fluke or trick worm. Then again I like Quantum reels so what the hell do I know?
  14. Well, at least it sounds like the service center has great customer service. Very cool that they are going to take care of you and at a very reasonable cost. Kudos to them.
  15. Falcon Bucco brc 717 carolina lizard dragger 2. Fantastic 7 ft. frog rod for $100.00. Softer tip and plenty of backbone. Not a pool cue at all.
  16. Found these in the yum bargain bin at Walmart. 6 pack for $2.50. Got to fish it for an hour or two. Only caught one fish but it was a solid two pounder. I like it so far. Anyone else seen/tried them?
  17. This is the correct answer. Falcon is always the correct answer.
  18. No. You'll hate it for at least a week and then you'll slowly start to like it. Next thing you know, you'll have at least 5 baitcasters and you'll never want to use your spinning reels. ?
  19. Zip tie a split ring to the rod. You might already have both laying around.
  20. I believe the accurist uses the acs 3 and the smokes and tours use the acs 4. Both will launch a frog. I frog with an Icon with the older 3 series brakes. My smokes have no problem launching a frog either. To the OP my smokes brakes definitely make some noise. Kinda like a no tech DC. ? lol.
  21. That sounds way more enjoyable/exciting than my last few fishing expeditions. ?
  22. The hank parker might work for you. I tried using mine for frogs and didn't really care for it. Too stiff of a tip for me. Certainly has the shoulders for it though. Nice rods for 40 bucks or less.
  23. I might use a plastic longer than I should. Found a slightly used pit boss in my tackle bag from sometime last year, today. Put it on a hook and fished it for 7 bass. It was pretty beat up after the 2nd or 3rd fish. Just kept on rigging it on however it would hold all because I didn't feel like walking 20 feet to my tackle bag to get another one out of the full bag of the exact same color. Lol. If I didn't need to retie it would probably still be rigged up.
