  1. Honestly! The bass don't care what you spent. They just want to eat. Fisherman Jim spends $750.00 on a rod, a reel, and some lures. He catches a few fish. Fisherman John spends $75.00 on a rod, a reel, and some lures. He catches a few fish. Fisherman Joe spends $17.50 on a rod, a reel, and some lures. He catches a few fish. They all have fun fishing and enjoying nature. Get it? You don't need Lucky Craft, GYBC, Loomis, Shimano to get out there and catch a bass or two and have fun doing it. Sure it's nice to have but you DO NOT NEED IT. That Zebco 33 combo and those Riverside grubs you bought will get you bit. They might even get you to "want" that Loomis-Shimano combo, but you don't need it. Get out there and enjoy all that Mother Earth has given you. Use your Sponge Bob reel to catch a few if you have to. Use what you have and have fun using what you have. Fun and enjoying nature, that's what it is all about. Get out there and enjoy the time you have to be out there and have fun with the equipment you have.
  2. ;D Hey LBH, You do know that Visonik and MA are the same company? When I had that Lanzar hooked up to 4 Visonik 12's it thumped pretty good. Speakers and amp only cost me like $200.00. Bought the Lanzar to replace my made somewhere over the pond, after Directed Electronics, JUNK, JUNK, JUNK, way overpaid in 99 or 00, Orion HCCA 250. I think the Lanzar did just as good at pushing those 12's. I like your new amp choice. $24,999.99 for an amp with a fan? I'll take that money and put a decent down payment on a house with central air. I was never a big fan of Rockford. Not real sure why as they made some pretty good stuff, just never liked them. Same thing with Kicker, never liked them. Are there still any old school companies out there that still make good stuff? I know JL still makes good products and from what I have seen MTX still seems good. Anyone else out there still around from the mid 80's/early 90's that still make top notch equipment?
  3. Over hand is tough to master. Side arm is the way to go. I can cast 20-30 yards side arm no problem with a 3/8 lure. Overhead might make it 15 feet and it makes a HUGE splash when it hits. I can pitch a good 20 feet though and almost no splash. I guess practice will make perfect, someday. :-?
  4. For the money they look like real nice reels. $35.00-$50.00 for a decent reel is tough to beat. Good to hear you like yours. Owwww! MONKEY! CLAWS IN MY BACK! Owwwww! GET OFF MONKEY! ;D
  5. Said it before and I'll say it again. Your a tweaker LBH. I like it LOUD. "Old school". Six years ago could of been last week! hehe. Give me a made in 1984, mil-spec, USA made Orion HCCA 425 and a HCCA 250 and I will show you LOUD! 200 watt class LOUD! You wish your chromie chrome, bling bling, over rated MA audio junk would put out like my old sexy, dressed in red, Orions would. ;D I'd even be willing to settle for an early 90's Hi-Fonics Zeus or a PPI over any of the junk made today. By the way, I have 2 Visonik 12's and a Lanzar Vibrant 2000 watt amp (Remember when Lanzar was a good company?). Think it will knock?
  6. Band? haha! What day is it and what mood am I in? Bands? Alright, here goes. Pink Floyd is probably my all time favorite. Nipping on their heels are: CCR, Zepplin, Skynyrd, Pantera, Metallica before the Black album, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Eminem, D-12, AC/DC, CDB, Dead Kennedy's, Primus... It runs the gambit. I like music.
  7. $500.00 bucks huh? Get G-Loomis and a Shimano.... ;D Oh! I see. $50.00 bucks. That's a tight budget. I know the feeling. Look around for sales, although spring is not the time to find deals but you may still find a close out or two on last years models. If no sales are to be found in your area I would suggest the local Wal-Mart. My Wal-Mart just picked up some Pinnacle and Shakespere reels that seem nice for the money. $35.00-$50.00. They seemed nice in the package but I have never used any of these reels and they might only last you 2 trips out on the water. :-? For a budget rod I have used and highly recommend is a Shakespere Excursion. It's the best $13.00 you will ever spend on a rod.
  8. The hollow body craw? Rig it like a tube. You can use a jighead or weedless/weightless with a hook. Use a hook inside the craw and a weight outside. You could also place a small bell sinker inside the craw so the loop on top of the sinker is facing the tail, now thread a wide gap hook through the tail of the craw and make sure you also go through the loop on the sinker and bring the hook point out through the bottom of the craw. Tex-pose or texas rig as you would any other plastic bait. This works well as the hook keeps the sinker from falling out of the lure and the sinker's loop keeps the hook from sliding forward.
  9. Good idea in theory but... It's most likely illegal in your state and what if all the bass are small because they have a disease? You just moved the disease from one body of water to another. The only way I would recommend moving fish is if it is from one private body of water to another and you have both owner's permission to do so. I'm all for sparing the fish but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Take a cooler of ice with you and toss in the dinks, I know it sounds cruel but icing fish is an approved method to kill them quickly, and toss them in the woods. Hey, if you have to kill them, might as well feed the other wildlife around. I would recommend checking with the local DNR before doing anything.
  10. "Here fishy, fishy." Never works for me either. ;D Great info though.
  11. Well I guess this will be a little off topic but... ;D Does it really matter? Did you have fun catching fish on your $6.00 Senkos? I had a great time catching fish on my .99 cent Riverside knock offs. Someone else's budget might not be the same as mine but at least we both had fun, caught a few fish, and enjoyed nature. That's what it's all about.
  12. If I'm listening to country it better be "outlaw country". Old: Highway Men. - Waylon, Willie, Johnnie, and Chris. New: I have two. 1: Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses. - Toby and Willie. 2: I love this bar. - Toby. Oh, and anything from the "Cowboys from Hell" Pantera. ;D
  13. Russ, Do what now? ;D
  14. There is a big difference between being/buying cheap and being/buying thrifty. FLW jigs are made by Mann's. Mann's makes all of the FLW stuff I have seen. Are the jigs really that bad? I just bought a bunch for 50 cents. They seem like real nice jigs for the money. I don't really know as I have not used them yet. Since I bought my green Curado BU-200 last year for $60.00 it must be junk? Fenwick Venture for $20.00? Must be cheap garbage. Kinami Flashes for a buck? Worst lures ever! I have quite a few Riverside lures. 99 cents for some Yum! rejects? I'll buy the good ones all day long. Craw Papi's, Dinger's, Vibra King tubes, and Buzz Frogs 5 for a dollar? Grubs 10 for a dollar? Yep, I'm all over them. There can be and is a huge difference between being cheap and being a bargain hunter.
  15. Just wondering. I was into electric stadium trucks when I was younger and kind of grew away from it. For the past year or so I have been kind of interested in getting a nitro truck. About 3 weeks ago I found out a guy from work was selling an HPI Nitro MT for a good price and I jumped on it. Man, what a blast! I forgot how fun R/C cars are. The speed, the smell of nitro, the 10 minute run times... I LOVE IT! I have another new hobbie to spend the bait monkey's money on or maybe it's the R/C monkey's money? ;D So... Anyone else?
  16. I'll second that. Shakespeare Excursion for $12.99 at Wally World. I bought mine for a cheap, who cares if it gets broke or lost, easy to store camping rod. I'll tell ya right now, for $13.00 bucks you will be amazed.
  17. I'd be honored to be knighted a mook by King Mook Muddy! ;D Sign me up.
  18. Yeah, when I got a PM from Little Johnny I was like "Who the he...?" I would think the mods would be more crative than that. Maybe Little Johnny Seat Catcher or muddy mook or....
  19. Napoleon Bonaparte for me! "Leadership Attributes: Napoleon was a brilliant planner. In fact, he set up an entirely new system for raising and training an army that revolutionized the field. He was not only a great general but a skillful diplomat, able to consolidate and extend power through treaties and political manipulation as well as on the battlefield." Yeah me.
  20. Nice fish Glenn and Keri! I would of never guessed P.B.'s because of the frowns on your faces. I think this guy ;D has a smaller Kool Aid grin than Glen!
  21. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I think Muddy might have a few new Mooks to add to his fishing team after the "07 BR Fork trip". How far are you from Ohio, Muddy? I want to be the next member. Since I didn't make it to Fork this year, my new fishing goal for '07 is to fish with Muddy. It looks and sounds like you all had more fun than is legally allowed.
  22. up, down... It don't matter. KEEP PRESSURE ON THAT FISH! Mr. Big Bass goes up, keep the rod tod tip down. Mr. Big Bass goes down, keep that rod tip up. Keep pressure on the fish and you will land the fish.
  23. One word. Curly_Tail_Grubs Pretty cool how I linked that into one word huh? ;D
  24. 1985 all over again! ;D
  25. "I'm not here to start no trouble, I just came to do the SuperBowl Shuffle!"
