  2. Got out on Kentucky yesterday for about 6 hours. Total fish for the day about 50-60. Best 5 were 18-19 lbs...caught more 3 lb fish than anything else. The bite was absolutely ridiculous, with fish being caught on almost every other cast. The bait was basically any rattle bait, but my hottest was the Excalibur XR75 in Royal Red. I absolutely wore them out on that bait. We were fishing main river humps (3-5 feet of water). Best fish went 5.1 lbs. Ran into a guy who had a 9.9 lb in his boat as well, he pulled it out of the livewell and showed us...it was enormous! I hope they stay hot like this for you guys!
  3. Our collegiate team gets our jerseys each year from Gemini. And yes, you have to have company approval to wear their logo. As far as what I wish I would have gotten done, there isnt really anything. I'll post a picture of our newest ones when they come in Monday, so you can see all the little details we thought of.
  4. I'm from Freed-Hardeman University in TN, but we won't be at that tournament. We are fishing the FLW College Fishing Series and the Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series this spring, as well as the National Championships this summer.
  5. My boat did ok at neely-we didn't catch fish til the 2nd day but we weighed 4 in and got 10th place. Guntersville stinks right now, too cold. Rat l trap bite might be there, but only if it warms up! I'm looking forward to it since I live on it, but it's gonna be tough since the flw tour will be there the weekend before. Anyway, we'll see y'all there!
  6. RW- Interestingly enough, there was a huge shad kill on the Coosa River as well recently. Fished a tournament there this weekend. Low water temperatures and shad kill = fish do not bite. They are gorged on shad and its cold. So they don't eat. Only way I got them to bite was on a jig dragged really slow on the bottom or a shaky head/finesse worm worked the same way. And the warmer water you can find, the better. The fish are absolutely lethargic right now though, due to the water temperature being around 40. Just my 2 cents.
  7. we'll be there Wednesday night and we'll start fishing first thing thursday morning. bad thing is, its gonna be 21 degrees...rough stuff
  8. 2 day tournament, but you have the option of launching at either site both days. check the tournament out at www.auburn.edu/bass
  9. 2 Launch Sites: the Coosa River Landing in Gadsden and the marina in Ottery Creek.
  10. To all you collegiate anglers: who's gonna be fishin the Southern Collegiate Bass Fishing Series? FHU will be there. I'm pretty pumped about Neely-Henry next week. Hope you guys are ready to fish!
  11. Thad- I'm the President of the club at Freed-Hardeman University. We helped Jann Swaim (Auburn's advisor) put together the Southern Series last year. It is an awesome series and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of it. We look forward to competing against you guys this spring. We didn't make it to the fall classic due to scheduling issues, but will be at all the tournaments in the spring! Anyway-if you have any questions hit me up on facebook. See you on the water- Tyler
  12. I saw this post about 5 AM this morning. I immediately went to the site and saw the rod for 66 dollars! I ordered one ASAP. I came back around 10 AM and looked at Amazon's website, and lo and behold, they are now $136! I guess I got the last one!! But anyway, what a steal while available, for sure.
  13. I think it may be luck of the draw when it comes to these reels. I have an S, SX, and STX...and the SX is by far the smoothest of them all. It reels smooth, casts the farthest, and is just an all around great reel. I have an STX as well though, and it grinds slightly when you reel it, which is enough to make me use my SX more than i use the STX. So it sounds like from the previous posts that it may just be luck of the draw.
  14. Well, after catching little fish for what seemed like forever, I got on my first hog of the year last week. I went out on a small state park lake with a friend of mine before classes started at college. We were catching a lot of little buck bass...and then it happened. Best fighting fish I have had so far! She was post spawn and went 23" and 7 lbs 14 oz on the scales. Let her swim off to make more! I lost another one yesterday that would have went about the same...but that's ok. There is always tomorrow!
  15. Thats awesome man! KVD is a super nice guy. I was at an Elite Series event a couple of years ago on Lake Guntersville (KVD didnt make it to the final day) and I was really looking forward to meeting him, but didnt see him during the event. So, I was heading to my car and I look over in the parking lot, and hes walking right beside me! I got an autograph and all. He was super nice about it. Pretty neat!
