  1. I do think eyedabassman is talking about a slightly different technique than shakey head.Instead of texposing the hook, you thread the worm down the shank of the hook. leaving the hook exposed. I have caught many bass through out the years with it. I have used ball and mushroom heads.Usually put more movement into jigworm than a shakey head. Pop or lift the bait off the bottom. letting it fall on controlled slack line. 99 % of the bites will occur on the fall. Good to be a line watcher, in case you don't feel that sweet little tap I like zooms 4 and 6 in finesse worms, some different styles of ribbon or curled tail worms and 3 and 4 in senkos. Have caught 100 x more bass with this technique than shaking a worm.
  2. I have played and still do, with a number of plastics ! I am 100 miles from you! Probably have accumulated 100 lbs of plastic in 25 yrs . When they don't bite anything and when they do, a 7 in Original Black power worm is the answer. Texas rig, work it slow. Many times have had inexperienced guys fishing with me and I have had them just drag the bait while I am doing everything else . Many of them own bass boats now because of that worm.
  3. How about a oldie but goodie ! HAW RIVER ORIGINAL BUBBLE GUM WORM.Is my go too for floating worm. Harder to find can order direct in NC .Forget the name of the color, order by hundred bag, yellow and pink configuration. Great floating worm, will texas rig with a half twist and bend in worm.
  4. I like the Norman speed clips for cranks. have used the others. Speed clips are the way to go for me.
  5. Thankyou guys for your input! Cabin fever getting intense. I have caught a few on the magic swimmer in my mind already :-? Boy it is magic
  6. Just left Dicks found some great deals including sebile magic swimmers only 2 were available. They are 125 slow sink ,color white lady.marked down to 9.97 then 50% taken off 4.98 a pc out the door I don't have much experience with the hard swim baits. which retrieval is more productive with this bait? What type and test of line do you prefer ? Would 12 lb yozuri ultra soft be efficient ? what rod reel configuration is best? Thankyou for any suggestions!
  7. I also agree with Nick. Most consistent for me in this area when the water is soft :-/ are blade baits, jerk baits, smaller plastics or pork on jigs, shakey heads usually crawled slowly. It has also been my experience that the bass are not always just caught in the deeper water. Have caught some of my biggest in the winter in shallower. Most of the time for me it is not a numbers time but a larger fish size time. Presentation and confidence means allot.
  8. Was in same predicament in 04. If all else fails, I informed lowrance being they could not repair it, I would be looking to replace it maybe with a Humminbird had a x70 ,they sent me a $250 certificate towards a new lowrance.
  9. you win carrington ;)I know what I use and for what apps and was inquisitive about the gear ratio he used, been fishing as long as kvd and pretty much set in my ways.
  10. Met him at bps grand opening inrossford ohio 2 yrs ago 8-) got there early to shop, walking around with basket ,noticed him walking around with same basket. I ran out to car, got my bass mag i brought for him to autograph, grabbed a couple hats and t shirts from store. I am almost 50 hope i grow up some day : and walked up behind him asked what he could be needing to buy? He laughed walked around the store with me showing me baits , answering my questions ,wife taking pictures. That was 1 of my questions, he uses 5:4 or 5:1. for cranking. He was a very nice guy and genuine. He kept walking with me as i shopped.I guess was star struck, I asked him a few times if i was keeping him from something important? he said no just hung around, no 1 in my book!
  11. AND YES HERE IN OHIO IT HAS ACCOUNTED FOR SOME TOURNAMENT WINS white would be my choice of color
  12. I believe it is used as a surface spoon.I do see now they have 2 types of spoons the one is a surface spoon with the skirt . this spoon has been very effective in this area for years, also very hard to find.use similar areas as a frog or swimming toad.Braid would be a good combo with it.would be good bait to show the fish something little different than all the popular plastics.the spoon can be adjusted or bent more or less to get less or more action.Reel fast enough to keep the spoon on or near the surface pause it to let flutter down into holes.hope this helps!

    Fat Ika Help

Nice question! Have tried these occasionally, no success, prime colors! Havn,t tried flippin them yet. Fished them deep backwards,no success. Good spots also. Might be some good advertising going on here!
  15. Penetration isn't bad either 8-)
  16. The monkey has been unmerciful :'( throughout the years with these baits!!I have most of all that has been talked about here :-[My latest and NEW AND IMPROVED is the Daiwa TD.Have used successfully for a couple of years. All the others are no good no more :
  17. Being from Ohio also jig thrower, blade baits are very effective for bass up around here.I have used them for 20 years in the 40 to 50s degree temperatures.Have seen them win early spring and late fall tournaments. The most productive one I use is called a Vibee produced in Ohio. Most gander mountains in the area have them.bps have a few that are comparable,Sonar and their own versions. If just starting to use,my recommendations would be 1\4 and 3\8 oz depending on wind.Silver on sunny, white on cloudy, and sometimes firetiger on muddy.Jig this bait where you might find the first or last weeds of the season.also on drops and humps. When fishing I use 10lb floro with a snap is critical.cast the bait letting it sink on semi slack line ,as if a worm ,95% of the bites will come on the fall.Lift rod from 10 to 12 o clock let fall again,do not allow the rod to just drop back to 10 abruptly.drop rod with the feel of the bait! Good luck!! This bait has been a go to for me when I couldn't get a bite on anything else.Is also a productive bait on Erie in the larger sizes!
  18. POINTERS 78 AND 100 AMERICAN SHAD,GHOST MINNOW,HUSKY JERK TENN SHAD ALL SIZES,AND SILVER.HAVE HAD ALLOT OF SUCCESS UP HERE IN OHIO AFTER OR BEFORE ICE WITH THE 78 OR SMALL HUSKY JERK .CASTING TO LAY DOWNS IN POCKETS OR SOME COVES VERY GENTLY TWITCHING BAIT AND PAUSE!HAVE CAUGHT PLENTY OF FATTIES,WHEN OTHERS THOUGHT NO WAY THEY COULD BE THAT SHALLOW!!
  19. Hey fishin buds!Yes I use snaps and swivels.Have different applications for both.I usually use the speed clips for cranks and jerk baits.Regular snaps for blade baits(sonars and such).Swivels for carolina rigs, floating worms.I usually take the factory split ring off the cranks and jerkbaits.I have a dozen rods in the boat, and have done it both ways(tying directly to split ring).Probably the most important practice you should have while using these though,is to pull on the line checking Knot strength and check line for knicks and weakness, being your not retying as often!Hope this helps you and your buddy!!
  20. First time posting!!! Hurrayyy!! been a voyeur for quite sometime!Thought I could lend some experience?? I have 3 symetry. The bail I believe on all 3 have broke at the bend and shimano has sent me new bails to replace.I have recently purchased the new stradic fi and feel its a much smoother reel and components are premium to the symetry! I also have a 5 yr old sustain, which I find the fi more comparable to if not better.I hope this helps? This site has been very helpful to me in my interests!! :
