  1. I'm well aware that it has been mentioned, but it's not working. People are not taking the time to read each little part of those stickies. Either that, or they don't care. I just figured that if there was one sticky, and the search function was mentioned in the title, we wouldn't have to sift through all of the unnecessary posts every day. Just a thought.
  2. If you like to jerk your baits, rather than slowly sweeping them, then it should work out very well. I like a softer, more mod/fast rod for sweeping and deadsticking. Fast I the way to go for jerking or ripping your baits. Some people even like an x-fast rod for this presentation.
  3. Heck yea. We gave up a STUD in LaPorta for CC. Man, I'd love to see LaPorta, Braun, and Prince in the same lineup... On a side note, during my fantasy draft I didn't realize Dan Haren was still available and I took Josh Beckett. Haren went the next pick. This still haunts me. Last night we had great seats for the game at Miller Park, and I watched Haren destroy the Crew. My biggest gripe about fantasy sports is cheering for a player/team I can't stand, simply because they're on my squad. Two of my starting pitchers are from Boston and I frickin' hate it.
  4. Is there any way a sticky can be created to advertise the search function? Everyday there are several new posts started that are unnecessary; these posts are taking up a ton of room. People really need to start using the search function. It's free and it doesn't bite.
  5. You can replace the skirt with Terminator's quick change spinnerbait skirts. Lots of colors to pick from. Northland tackle makes them as well.
  6. Trailer hooks are a must if the fish are throwing your bait. I believe some of the Booyah spinnerbaits have the Leverage hooks previously used by McGuinness. The wire cable connecting the frame and hook flexes and moves with the fish. Quite genius really.
  7. Heck Yes! The hooks on a lot of these baits are an absolute joke. I've seen better hooks at rummage sales. I bet you get a free bowl of soup with hooks like this... If the bait has screw-in anchors for the hooks, just snip the old hooks off, and add a split-ring with new hooks. The split-ring will take some of the leverage away from the fish.
  8. How about some topwater baits? LC's Sammy and Gunfish are great walking baits. Add some poppers too. The Lobina Rico, Xcalibur's Zell Pop, and Storm's Chug-Bug are some options. Spring is here, and so is jerkbait time. LC's Pointer is a staple. I also have a lot of confidence in Rapala's Husky Jerk, and Smithwick's Rouges.
  9. I've been fishing Power Pro on Stradics for years, and I'm very happy with the line's performance. Very supple, and it only gets better with time. It covers all spectrums of weight ranges too. It can handle larger baits, as well as ity-bity jigs. I fish a lot for walleye, and I cast small, 1/8oz leadheads and live-bait combos a ton. I have 20lb on my walleye jigs/rigs rods, and it does a fantastic job. If the cover your speaking of isn't too thick, 20lb should be fine. Otherwise bump-up to at least 30lb.
  10. St. Croix has a skippin' rod in their LT series. It's 5'10", medium powered, and has an extra-fast action. http://www.stcroixrods.com/rods/default2.asp?rodname=52
  11. Are they that soft? I've been eyeing them for some time, never got to see them in person though. Are they more of a flippin' style tube?
  12. The Silver Minnow, with a pork strip, is still a staple for pike in these parts. And I will not go pike fishing without a one ounce Daredevle.
  13. I recently bought my first two spools of 100% and am really excited to try this stuff out. As for the Vanish, yup, garbage. Even as leader material it's garbage. I used quite a bit of the stuff years back to tie my rigs for walleye fishing....big mistake. That was a lot of money down the pisser.
  14. The 3X plastic can be difficult to work with. Try a dab of super glue.
  15. You shouldn't drink so much CJ, it's not healthy. ;D
  16. I'm a huge fan of Gambler's floating worms. There have been many years where my first bass of the season has come on an unweighted, t-rigged Gambler floating worm. A swivel and leader help with the line twist.
  17. Some of their ratings have thrown me for a loop. In the LTX line, the 7'2" med, mod casting rod is 3/8-3/4oz, but the 7' med, mod casting rod is rated at 1/4-5/8oz...that's a big difference on the low end of the ratings. I'm not sure if the 7'2" rod loads as well with small-med cranks, as the 7' rod does, though they are labeled as having the same action and power, and this has kept me from pulling the trigger until I can figure it out.
  18. We are no longer rotating closers. Franklin is 7 for 7. I need a second closer baaad on my fantasy team, as the Huston Street experiment didn't quite work out. Franklin was a free agent for weeks until someone else picked him up...I'm still kicking myself.
  19. Finish the regular season well, but that's as far as that one goes. ;D Heck, even Milwaukee one a post-season game last year...and that was against the champs.
  20. Yup. Try sitting between turns three and four at Indy for the Brickyard, hungover nonetheless. Water is your only friend.
  21. Deal. Rotating closers is going to kill the Cards. Though I must admit, it's good to have another Chi-town hater on the board. Here's to 102 years. ;D
  22. No prob CJ. If you want to make things interesting, I'll go double or nuthin'. I can't think of any good guidelines right now, maybe the Crew vs the Cards for the season?
  23. Nice bird. How are you going to prepare it for the table?
  24. Speaking of the cards...I believe someone owes me a crankbait from last year's wager....... ;D
  25. About a month or so back I purchased several packs of Roboworm 4.5" straight tail worms off of Ebay. The guy I bought these from is evidently a HEAVY smoker. Not only do the plastic bags reek of stale smoke, but even the plastic worms smell a bit...and all the packs were unopened. I'm just wondering how stench will affect the fish. I have a tube of the old formula of Megastrike ready to go. I was even thinking of purchasing a tube of the new formula, with the garlic-like scent, and coating each worm before putting them in new bags. Am I going overboard here? Has anyone fished plastics that reek of stale cigs? I used to be a smoker, and puffed while I fished. But I would always wash my hands after each cig. Sometimes I'd even rub a scented plastic between my hands if I was still sketchy.
