  1. I am looking for a crankbait rod that will handle bigger baits. I will be using this rod to crank from 10' to 18'. I have enough saved to buy anywhere from low end to high end, but is it worth the extra $ for a high end cranking rod? What brand, length, and action do you guys suggest? ;D
  2. As far as I am concerned the world is now a better place without this scumbag. This is what is wrong with our world today. There is no accountability for actions. This guy broke in with what appeared to be a gun. He deserved everything he received. Personally gun or no gun,you break into a house to rob or harm somebody you deserve to be killed. Eventually there would be no more break-ins.
  3. This guy should be given a medal. I love to see the good guys win.

  5. I personally practice catch and release, but I have experienced what happens when everything is released. I have a lake that I fish that is completely overun with stunted bass. No one was allowed to keep anything for along time. Now I can go catch 100 1lb. bass in a single outing. For the last year I have been taking 1lb. bass out. I have taken out 893 so far. The bite has not been phased at all. You either catch a 1lb bass or you catch a 4-9lb. bass. Nothing in the 2-3lb. exsist.
  6. Yea, its on the side of the box lid that does not have carpet if that helps, the inside of the box. when you shut the lid they just dangle freely but dont fall off. I got some eye hooks that at home depot, and just opened them about 1/8" so you can get the wire of the spinnerbait in there. Thx Brian! Now I have another 'project' that gets prioritized after my honey-do's. LOL. It looks like a 3/8 x 2" firring strip. Did you use rivets to attach it? I've often thought that there was wasted space under those lids and now you've solved a problem for me. Or created a new one! Either way - good idea! You can also use a piece of aluminum track and drill holes through it. Add some d ring clips and store soft plastic bait packages. It is great to open you box and grab something real quick.
  7. My personal best was caught with one. Big fish love them.
  8. I cant believe I remember this. Spaceballs.
  9. While I can not compare the 2 rods in question. My G Loomis IMX arrived yesterday. It was on the porch when my wife got home. When questioned about my new purchase I told her the baitmonkey made me do it. I skipped dinner and went fishing. The rod is awesome. The best rod I have ever fished with.
  10. Welcome, you could not have found a better group to join. There is alot of info and advice here.
  11. Purple and white pre-rigged bass stopper worm with 1/8 split shot about 8" up the line
  12. I live in southern Ohio, (just north of Cincy). I fish a 55 acre gravel pit on a weekly basis. The water temp has been 75 to 80 for 10-14 weeks. 2 days ago I caught a 7lb 4 oz that appeared to be spawning. Tail all bloody and torn. My partner and I couldn"t figure this one out. So is this a late spawner?
  13. I will crank from 1 to 16 ft. Just depends on where I am fishing. I always shop from my stuff and never pay full retail. Ebay is the greatest place ever. You can get some awesome deals.
  14. I have several different brands of rods on my boat. All have zillion reels except for 2 sols. So far my 2 favorite are my G-loomis crankbait rod and my Cumara 7'2" heavy exfast. My question is does the Zillion rod compare to the Cumara as far as sensitivity. I have only had the Cumara for about 2 months but it is by far the most sensitive rod I have ever used. This is what I am comparing it to- Carrot stick,Powell,Rogue,Daiwa light & tough, loomis bronzeback. I really like the looks of the Zillion but I want sensitive. Any advice?
  15. Going on a family vacation to Florida. Looking to sneak away for a day and hire a guide to do some bass fishing. Does anyone know of any good lakes or pits that are close by?
  16. I just came over to the darkside and fished with my new stix. 6'10" MH. Currently I am using it to flip beavers and chigger craws and I love it. Have it paired with a daiwa Sol. Not an exact color match but very light. I do have questions about balancing a rod. I have never done this. How do you do it and why?
  17. Thanks for the info. Lake is about 53 acres. Average depth 11 to 15 feet. 25' at deepest. I am also looking into aquatic plants for this lake. The lake has none right now. I am in southwest ohio with gravel and clay soil. I am looking for something that will grow but not become a problem in the future. Any ideas?
  18. Every lake needs something taken out of them. When you catch fish that have heads the size of a 3lb bass and they are 1.5 lbs, somethings wrong.
  19. Okay, I want to get some opinions on this matter. I Have fished a private gravel pit/lake for a couple years now. It seems you either catch 10 to 12 inch 1.5lb bass or you catch 5,6,7,8, and 9lbers. You can catch 60 to 100 per day of the small ones. The big ones have come on all of my sunken cover. Lake has huge bluegill, crappie, catfish in it. Why is there a void of 2 and 3 lbers. you dont catch any of that size. Last year I removed 580 small bass from this lake and added 7 brushpiles. This year I plan to do the same. What else can I do to improve the lake?
  20. Try to find shallow water with rocks or shallow humps with rock. Really effective when you start to get 1 or 2 warm sunny days. These areas will warm up first. Slow Slow Slow on your presentation.
  21. Could someone please tell me the difference between the carrot stix gold vs the ltx? Is the gold worth the extra money?
