  1. Duct tape yourself with claymores! jjust make sure you have them pointed the right way.
  2. Yeah I also refer to 4mr as "The Runs", for obvious reasons...
  3. Niiiiiiiice, I caught one that size in the spring right at the airport in 4mr on a small spinnerbait. Those cats in moving water stay a little more svelt, and boy are they fun. I find blues tend to run while channels just spin. One of the reasons I love the Potty is you just never know what you're going to hook. It's probably in the 40+ # range, but it's so hard to tell from photos, especially fish that size.
  4. Yep, I think he is.
  5. Straight branches with few to no twigs coming off. You need a blank considerably larger than the final product, especially if you're going from raw branch to bait. Dowels from a hardware or hobby store might be a more consistent way to start.
  6. Are you familiar with Google Maps?
  7. Go when they're letting water out. White 3" grubs are good for whatever, as are jerk baits, both hard and soft. Spooks are good but can be hard to work in the current. Anything shiny that resembles a shad can do some damage on any given day. I had a 30 lb striped take me fo a TN sleigh ride in my kayak. I hooked her right next to the dam, and ended up a couple miles downstream. Lots of bass, stripes and cats I. The tailgaters. Lots of bass and hybrids over off Topside.
  8. Below the Ft Loufon and Tellico dams down around Lenoir City is usually great, either fish the current or there are several pull -offs between and just past the dams. Don't overlook the backwaters down there. Nearer to Knoxville and the Campus, Topside drive and the area where Topside meets Alcoa highway were good to me in college. I also did Second and Third creeks on occasion, but wash your hands if you do that.

    I lol'd.
  10. Go to the Flea Market and offer JTJ $150 for his slightly used Chronarch 50E. You're not going to beat that.
  11. What Rambler said. If that didn't work, I'd switch to a white fluke style bait (sluggo, jerk shad, etc), cast into the whitewater, and twitch back. Vary speed based on the day. Don't be afraid to go as fast as you can with strpers and hybrids; they'll catch up.
  12. You'll be fine. I started with one of the Okumas and a Cardiff 200 which also would get you under. You could also put together a great set up fro. The flea market right now...there's a Quantum SB rod and a few round reels that would fit the bill. But to answer the original question, that should do it for the basics.
  13. They don't charge until they ship, so you're not getting ripped off. You can cancel anytime. I had to wait a little for my Bone Lunker Punker...Worth. Every. Minute. I've had dozens of orders with TW and never had any problem with filling the order or customer service if they couldn't.
  14. It certainly has significant stretch but it's a great line at a great value. It is the best "all purpose" line I've used.
  15. In the magazine.
  16. Fish that big main lake point and the brush on either side and off of it. There's more brush and stumps as you back away into deeper water. Jigs if it stays hot, spinnerbaits if we get the cold snap.
  17. Dodge guy - where's your 832 pic? You can't dodgeguy pimp it without the pic!
  18. My wife has the same problem on occasion.... ;-) You need to get the lightest combo you can for the fall bite, so that you don't exacerbate the problem.
  19. Are there rocks around? Braid + rocks = what's happening to you, especially light braids. Also, depending on the rod you have, some of these drop shot rods aren't so much made for casting and retrieving as much as short casts for fairly vertical presentations and line management. You could try a 1500 size reel, but i still doubt you're going to get epic distance out of it, no matter the line.
  20. It has been my experience that the fish are still there, they're just in different spots this year. We've had some extremely high water in the last 12 months that moved the river bottom around. Also, the grass/weeds are different this year. I'm actually catching more big fish and less of the "Potomac Deuces" this year.
  21. You sure it wasn't a beaver? Sometimes those things aren't the expected color.
  22. Washing, febreeze, odor eaters, and an deodorizing/antibacterial powder all help some. But they still tend to smell, especially if you regularly get them wet.
  23. I'm on my 5 th or 6 th pair. Like Raider, I wear them for everything, especially running and lifting. Make sure they fit and you slowly work yourself into them or you won't like them. Take walks in them at first, then wear for a few hours a day, then some light running. They have to adequately mold to your feet.
  24. While MCS could've said it better, his sentiments are right. I am a dog lover who grew up on a farm. If the dog is lame, the dog's got to go, don't let it suffer. If your kid swallowed a hook, would you be asking about it on a fishing forum?
  25. 10 lbs 5 oz, assuming you are 30 ft tall and have 24 inch hands. And that's the 22 oz inline spinner.
