  1. Squirrel with gravy and biscuits was a staple growing up. They take about 30 seconds to skin and gut if you know what you’re doing and nothing goes horribly wrong - you basically start at the tail with a small slit and turn them inside out. Like most fish - they taste pretty good if you do your part in taking care of them.
  2. I was just through there emptying out a storage unit in Cordova and then driving through Fayette/Hardeman County’s where I grew up - that’s a HUGE investment for the area- If I remember correctly, Royal Oak or Kingsford is putting a plant in West TN as well
  3. Mr. Mom with Micheal Keaton - great scene, reminds me of some contractors lately
  4. 220…221…whatever it takes…
  5. Deep Creek is probably less busy now than a month ago, but it’s always busy. Maybe pop south to Moomaw in VA? Beautiful place
  6. +1 on the SLX MGL. I use it for down to 1/16 oz in line spinners on a L rod. It won’t bomb it big-Swimbait style, but it can definitely do it.
  7. Fun teacher workday trip for me and the kid:
  8. I’ve been kayak fishing since around ‘97 or ‘98. My first boat was a Dagger Delta sit-in. It’s all about getting off the bank so you can get to more water and have more room for casting angles. Everything past that is gravy. A lot of the boats nowadays with motors and sonar that weigh north of 120 are really just small boats to me. But they work for their purpose Now get off my lawn.
  9. A classic rapala floater in gold is what I use on most small streams if looking for big trout, followed by a in-line spinner. Cast quartering downstream and the the current sweep it into holes and current breaks. Small ultralight rods though
  10. Utterly off this topic but the Obed is one of my favorite places in TN. Great fishing, climbing, camping, kayaking, and hunting.
  11. I was in New Orleans after Katrina and we watched a helicopter put linemen on poles - no idea what they were doing but I had pucker with both feet on the ground
  12. Yeah I have a college buddy that has a Komodo and it’s pretty nifty, it’s just more time and work and money than I want to spend. If I had an outdoor kitchen by the pool (I don’t have a pool either) I’d probably install one in that but for what I cook and how often, my setup is great.
  13. I grill and sometimes smoke on a Weber Spirit. I have had it five years, and have replaced the grates and burners once. It is stored outside, and I use it 3-4 times a week. I use a pizza stone that shares tone in the oven. All super convenient, quick, and easy to clean. When I want to do some full blown smoking, I have a Weber kettle that I use a hot plate, small cast iron skillet, and small wood chips or sawdust in. You’d be amazed at how well stuff comes out of that and it’s wildly easy. I’d buy the Spirit again in a heartbeat- works great, convenient, and aftermarket parts are easy to come by.
  14. @Kayak Fishin the weight will depend on the size of the bead or cone at the head. I fish 6/8/10 on ultralight. You can add split shot above it if need. That actually goes for pretty much any streamer.
  15. Bead head wooly buggers are great on UL. Go big and get it wet before you try casting. Work it like a jig or like a soft plastic jerk bait. I also like the spoons and rapalas mentioned above.
  16. @Biglittle8 Do it! It’s great stuff!
  17. I concur with the above. We drink Counter Culture that’s roasted in Raleigh. They list the roast date on the bag. We also keep Cometeer pods in the freezer for those extra days. They’ll ruin you.
  18. Yes, and I always threw trick worm or small stickbaits/flukes weightless and t-rigged, or Rapalas. Maybe an in-line spinner or two, but mostly the soft plastics
  19. @TnRiver46 that bacteria probably came from me!
  20. Shopping carts are true urban cover. I have caught smallies off them there in Sevierville, in Asheville, and in the Potomac near DC. That stretch of the little pigeon can be a ton of fun when it’s hot. I always caught the near grass beds with some current.
  21. That was mostly tongue-in-cheek…the Browns are actually pretty good. You could also ask yourself how many non-NFL-caliber players are on the Jags…
  22. There’s always a couple SEC teams that I think can beat the Browns or Jags most years. And it’s already the NFL’s minor league. Just 4? Guarantanamo was just good enough for you to get optimistic before he burned it down…

  24. Colonoscopy: underrated and necessary This thread?
  25. Leave it and wrap it. I think getting it off and trying to size a replacement is going to be a challenge. Put it together, with some wax, and then put a good wrap on it. It won’t last forever, but it will for a while.
