  1. No, I did not talk to someone in the warranty dept since I didn't break the rod. I agree w/ you, St Croix's customer service to this point has been exemplary. So much so, that I now own 10 of their rods. That's why I was so taken back by the claim that, oh well, here's what happened, that's the way it is. Definately uncharacteristic. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem.
  2. I received in the mail a LE that I bought from an internet site. I understood that the rod was the last model w/ the brown finish. Great!! I thought. That's my favorite stick w/ the absolutely beautiful iceberg brown finish on the custom-looking handle. I thought I'd pick up one more LE before these beauties were all gone. Well... what do I get in the mail? A LE w/ a brown finish but w/ an aweful looking reel seat that isn't finished... just plain gray graphite! I call St Croix and they tell me that the company that used to finish the reel seats quit work for them so for 4 months the LE's were produced like this. Has anyone else received one of these rods? Is it just me, or is this really unacceptable? All the catalogs including on-line ones and ST Croix's own refer to the beautiful finish on the handle. I know the blanks still the same, but something tells me this just isn't right.
  3. I was looking to get another high end reel soon. I have a couple stellas that I love and they have held up great. This time, however, I'm thinking about getting a steez spinner. Now that they've been on the market for a couple of years, I'd be interested to hear how they've held up. Thanks in advance!
  4. Rob, I too detest having to go backwards in a float tube. I was thinking of buying those flippers you mentioned, but everywhere I read about them they got awful reviews. Specifically, they said there was no thrust at all. BTW, I checked BPS and couldn't find them. If they do indeed work well, I wouldn't mind picking some up!
  5. Which one of these would pair up better w/ a St Croix ES66LF? Is the 2500 that much bigger than the 2508? How does the 2500 hold so much more line... deeper spool? Thank you for your input!
  6. Hi folks. Been trolling this fine board for awhile and finally decided to register. I bought two rods recently, a st. croix legend elite spinning 6'6" fast light action and also a legend inshore spinning 7'6" fast M action. Some questions for the experts: My LE is going to be my creek smallie rod, and also used for tossing small rapalas for pond bass in Ohio. Balance-wise, and application-wise, should I get a 1000 size Stella or a 2508 Steez? My legend inshore will do double duty. I'll use it for freshwater applications and also out of my yak in saltwater for blues, stripers and flounder. Key here is it may get dunked in SW. Wondering if a 2500 size Stella for this is appropriate, or if I should get a Van Staal. My dilema is that while the VS is truly dunkable, I really don't know if I could ever get used to the grinding feeling vs the smoothness of a Stella, especially when I'm using it in freshwater. Sorry for rambling. Looking forward to your expert commentary with much thanks. Hope to contribute some advise as well besides just asking questions. -Seymore
