  1. Thanks for everyones response the item from Cabellas looks great in design and in price.
  2. Yea the guy who said there should be a blower made a comment that the apposing scoops provide enough venting while the boat is moving but when anchord or trolling real slow it may not have enough fresh air circulation. The gas tank is a removable plastic 6 gallon type.
  3. I'm in the midddle of a complete redecking project on a 16' Alum. Tracker. I have 3 batteries and a 6 gallon plastic fueltank all of which will be at the far rear and in very close proximity of each other. I thought I saw here somewhere that one needs to exercize caution in this area, So I was wondering if I need to make a sealed area, tray or compartment for the fueltank and vent it somehow. One guy told me I need to installl a fresh air blower along with a vent system where the fueltank is stored, there will be a closed deck above it. I 'm not familiar with any of the safety aspects and would like input. I certainly want a safe set-up I just need to know what to be aware of and what I may need to buld in to this. What about any kind of trays I may need to build for the batteries and or fueltank ??
  4. I have 3 batteries on my 16' Alum Tracker and am in the middle a complete redecking project. When hauling my boat it seems to me my batteries are taking some jolts. I had the idea of of providing them more dampening buy adding a piece of say 1/4 plywood and maybe something like a teenis ball cut in half and put a 1/2 under each corner. Or mabe 4 small but soft rubber balls. I believe I read it's not good for your batteries to be bounced. Yea the trailer has leaf springs but occasionally it does seem to take a hit now and then. Anybody have any input?
  5. I was reading some past messages about sealing the plywood being used for the decks and many advised not to, beause it could trap the water in the wood causing it to rot. I was wondering if you can brush a thin coat of resin used for fiberglassing. Just a thin coat on top, bottom and all edges, Wouldn't this prevent the wood from absorbing water which many say adds a great deal of weight to the boat until it can dry out. This idea has also caused me to wonder if if you couldn't also use fiberglass and resin and with the added strength maybe be able to use thinner plywood due to the reinforcement of the fiberglass and resin to cut down on some of the weight of the plywood and reduce the whole wood rot issue at the same time. I'm new so mabe this has already been talked about. Sure would like to have some input from the more expierenced out there. Thanks
  6. I have an older Mercury 40 and between the top of the motor and the bottom there is a flexable cover that latches shut and there is a cover that goes over the little opening. It is held into position by a spring plastic lever which has broken and has a pin into a blind hole. I can't figure out how to remove this hollow pin. Anyone have any ideas?
  7. Thanks - I will put a photo or 2 as well as more details Sunday as we are going away for Thanksgiving, and the guy did not keep those air scoops when he redid the rear deck. I'll be redoin both front and rear decks Thanks again!!
  8. I have an old ('79) 16ft Tracker. The previuos owner did a butcher job on the decking and I would like to make some mods.I would like to bring the deck up to the rails if that is ok and would like to make some hatches to store plastic storage trays. I'm going to do front and back. I also would like to have a rod locker and have a 7' 6" swimbait rod, am I dreaming? I have no idea where to begin and what I need to keep in mind in taking on this project. I saw someone converting a Jon boat and saw how he had all of these vert pieces of wood. Also I saw someone mention a KABOOM factor abouy gas tank and batteries what do I need to know about this. I have 2 #27 batteries for a MG 67lb TM and a #24 for cranking. ANY input would be appreciated as this is my first boat. Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!
