  1. I would use your M power combo for lipless cranks and shallow diving cranks like squarebills. Throwing a deep diving crankbait on a M rod is more trouble than anything. I would also use this rod for your weightless plastics. I would put either 12 lbs flouro or 12 lbs Yo Zuri. The MH will be great for Jigs/ T rigs and spinnerbaits. I saw you mentioned using the M power for spinnerbaits but i am confident you will be much more comfortable with the MH while throwing a SB. I would suggest 15 lbs flouro or 12 lbs yo zuri. 12 lbs might seem light for jigs and larger t rigs but if your not familiar with Yo zuri, it has a much higher break strength than its lbs test and most people on this board can vouch for its strength and abrasion resistance. Those 2 alone will cover just about everything you want to fish. I didnt include the ugly stik because unless im fishing for striper or salt fishing i HATE them. They are like wet noodles and setting the hook was always a problem for me. If you can make it work than more power to you. I never could. I think you did great with your selections and although they are not high priced shimanos like alot of people think you cant catch fish without, they will work great for you until your ready to upgrade. Good luck!
  2. A woman of that age would have come from the "butt whoopin days" you would think. Maybe she didnt get spanked as a kid?
  3. I used to fish from shore and i hated carrying an "old school" tackle box. I bought a back pack from wal mart for 10 bucks, 2 3700 plano boxes for lures like jigs and cranks and also my terminal tackle. The boxes have removeable dividers so you can make room for more than you will need bank fishing. Then i bought this tackle binder http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shopsreg;-Tackle-Binder-or-Replacement-Pages/product/37107/71372?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL and put my spinnerbaits in it. Worked PERFECT and held more than you will ever need. You could put anything that will fit in there really and it is small so it will fit in the front small pocket of a backpack. Then used all the other side pockets and any unused room for packs of plastics, extra line, pliers etc. All in one backpack. All for under 30 bucks. Matter of fact when i go pond hopping every once in a while this is what i use. Good luck!
  4. So after the early sqaurebill bite died off this morning and the 102 degree sun came out we headed for horizontal cover and or deep water. We started fishing a marina and was pitching into and around all of the boat houses and boats. Started off good catching 4 quick ones. I was throwing a 3/8 oz jig and my father in law was throwing a 1/4 t rigged red shad worm. We were in about 20 FOW. Im assuming the fish were suspended because our lures were only falling about half way down when we were getting bit. After those quick 4, there was nothing. We fished the entire marina probably pitching into 100 spots multiple times. Finally called it a day as it was WAY too hot with no cloud cover. As soon as we pulled away, 2 guys fishing a tourney came in where we finished at and pulled in 3 quick ones before we made our way out and around the corner. It got me to thinking, what was i doing wrong? My question is, what do yall use for suspended fish in a situation like this? Should i try a 1/4 oz jig so it falls a little slower and stays in front of there face longer? Or am i over thinking it and just need to shut up? I just keep picturing them pulling in bass where i pitched to 6 times in a row without a bite. Thanks yall.
  5. First off, you were a LOT nicer than i would have been to the woman who corrected you while discipling YOUR kid. Her ears would have been bleeding. I remember hearing from a cop a while ago that as long as there is no blood or cuts above or below the waist, it is called discipline. I got my ace WHOOOOOOOPED by my dads big rodeo belt.....and buckle, more than a couple times. He used to tell me "your about to get your ass whooped son" so i would go in my room and put on all the underwear i had LOL. Now i would never do my kids the way i was done becausei think it was a little harsh. I never got hit anywhere but on the butt and it was never abuse. But that belt was a little bit bigger than big. As for if i spank my kids or not, sort of. My daughter is 1 so no. My son however is going on 3 so he has his moments. I never spank him out of anger, only when i give him a choice and he chooses wrongly. And even then i wouldnt call it a spank so much as a "hard tap". Just enough to get his attention. If i have to, its always only once and he is a gentlemen for the rest of the day.
  6. I like Bomber myself. I have a Rapala or 2 and some 5 and 6xd strike king cranks i never really use because i dont do much deep cranking. I usually throw cranks in 0-8 FOW. I actually have some Academy brand h20 square bills that i wouldnt mind having more of. But i am pretty fond of bomber.
  7. Great first setup, much better than what alot of people including myself started with. Congratulations!
  8. You know Lebron too?
  9. I just picked up some abrazx over the invizx that i hear so much about. Its nice to finally hear something about Abrazx. I just finished trying vicious flouro and i wasnt to pleased. It was the first flouro ive tried so i dont know if im expecting too much or the Vicious really wasnt just for me. Hopefully im happy with Abrazx. Buying Yo Zuri is cheap. Buying Flouro is NOT.
  10. I have only fished the crucial out of all of those and i love it. Im not sure how the XF would be too stiff but the F wouldnt? XF would have more give then a F action. In the crucials case i would go with the XF. I had a 6'6" MH XF i used for plastics a while ago and it was awesome.
  11. Almost posted this as well. Thought you might have misheard or mispelled by accident. I have never heard of an "allen" head, just an Alien head...
  12. KVD L&L is amazing. I dont think i will ever go without it.

    Jig Sizes

Didn't think of it that way. Thanks guys. I'm slowly learning jigs so I'm trying to soak It all up.
  16. I am always, hearing guys throwing 1/2 Oz and 3/4 oz. jigs. When do y'all throw 1/4 oz or 3/8 oz? Does water depth come into play when selecting weight like it does with a Texas rigged worm? Or do you throw a 1/2 oz jig n craw in 5 ft of water? just wanting to hear you're personal preferences. Thanks y'all.
  17. Here, this is what i use.I currently have 2 of these in my bag full of plastics like trailers, worms, creatures etc. Like i mentioned before, all the plastics are kept in their original packages and then put inside the box. I also have a plano box full of cranks, a box with jigs and another terminal tackle box. I keep my spinnerbaits in a soft binder in the side of my bag. http://www.basspro.com/Plano-3731-Bulk-Storage-Box/product/1552/39856
  18. WHAT!! i cant believe i havent seen the pit chunk! If these work as well as the original pit boss i will be in heaven. Although it will be hard to take off my paca craws or rage craws, i will certainly be trying these asap. Thanks Hooligan for pointing these out!
  19. My order should be arriving soon! As soon as it does i will be on the water huntin' for a contest winner!!
  20. Its not about lure presentation as much as location. If your catching small ones then your presentation is working. You just need to find the big girls. Like K_mac mentioned try a larger worm (10") or a jig and craw. These generally produce less bites b ut will result in bigger fish. With that being said, i caught my PB 5.4oz on a smokey shad shim e stick which is a strike king version of a senko. Not huge but a decent size when the average fish in my lake is around 1-4 lbs.
  21. I fish the same color the same way. Flip and pitch mainly. Yes it can be used as a trailer. skeet reese the designer does so I would say yes. I personally don't but you can. Pitching to cover with them has been the best producer for me. T rigged with a 1/4 Oz weight.
  22. I do the same. If I was on my laptop not my phone I would show you the exact Plano box. It is just a deep box with no dividers. Keep them in their bags and store them in Plano box. I have 2-3 in my tackle bag full of plastics. Best system I have seen or used. Its prefect.
  23. Compre will not disappoint you. Light sensitive and plenty of backbone. I have had mine for years and still use it every outing.
  24. To hard to pick one. T rigged plastic or a trap.
