I use a 4/0 offset ewg Gammy for super flukes. Never had an issue with rigging or hooksets. Master of fact that's all I have ever used for flukes.

Nailed it.I would also suggest looking into Yo Zuri Hybrid. I feel it is a happy medium between Mono and Flouro. It is MUCH more abrasion resistance than mono, has better knot strength than Flouro and is somewhere in between as far as sensitivity and visibility. I use Yo Zuri 12# for all moving baits. 15# for flipping and pitching jigs and plastics in or near cover and brush. It really is amazing how tough this line is, and with some KVD L&L it is very manageable. I only run 1 rod with flouro anymore and that is my Jig and T rig rod. To be honest though Im still not completely happy with Flouro for some reason and will probably end up putting 15# Yo Zuri back on. I guess I just didnt see any significant change when I started using Flouro like I was expecting. To each his own though. Try it and see, it may help you land more fish! As far as line recommendations here are my opinions. Vicious- VERY stiff even with line conditioner. A little too stiff for me. Seagur Abrazx is awesome! My favorite flouro by far. Trilene 100% is pretty stiff as well but I like the way it handled better than Vicious. Good luck, I hope you find the results you are looking for! -JP

Successful colors may vary from one body of water to the next. I use gizzard Shad because that's what the fish are feeding on heavily right now. I also use chartreuse black back if the water is a little more dingy than usual. Craw is always successful in fall for me as well. Mainly gizzard Shad though.

Agree with just about everyone. I am very confident that jigs and 10 inch worms WILL catch you bigger fish. The age tail Thumper is my go to big worm. Use a small 1/8 weight and work it slow.

I'm with you RW. I don't get the satisfaction I want unless I'm catching fish atleast at the 3 lbs mark.

The temps here in North Texas are finally cooling off. Had a cold front blow through last Friday that knocked the high down to about 50 all weekend. We got out Sunday morning under cloudy skies and high winds and absolutely tore em' up!! Startd out throwing a 1.5 in Gizzard Shad in some shallow, wind blown water with plenty of shad visible. Hooked up with the one in the pic right off the bat. Im guessing 5? She had a big mouth and head but not much of a belly. She might go 7 or so a little later in the year I bet. After a good 15 fish on the same lure, I broke off on a fish and watched her flop away with it in her lip. Check your line folks! I forget to remember to do this until this happens. Tied on a chart/ blk black 1.5 and went right back to work catching fish. After a few more fish the bill chipped on the corner from all of the rocks I was banging it off of. It wasnt running true anymore and wasnt really catching water and staying under so I made one more cast before I planned on re-tieing. I was watching it twirl in circles on top of the water and go under and come back up. Right as I got it to the boat and went to lift it out of the water a huge fish comes out of nowhere and misses it by an inch. It might sound like a fishermans lie but im not kidding, this fish was close to 10#, if not 10. I was shocked that such a big bass would follow it ALL the way to the boat like that. Sandies do it all day long, just never had a largemouth do it. Tied on a trap after that craziness happened and hooked up with a couple more nice ones but didnt land them. All in all we had about 30 Bass including some smallies, guadalupes and of course sandies which hit everything moving. My Father in law landed this decent Smallie which according to TPW doesnt exist in Grapevine Lake. All smallies were caught on a Craw trap. Fall is here and the big girls are shallow! This is an awesome presentation for quantity IMO. I have never caught size but always catch numbers of fish. I like the megastrike and spot remover. As for plastics, just pic something light like a worm. I use a zoom trick worm or finesse worm. I prefer something subtle.

I would make the trip to Fork which is a decent 2 hour drive w/o traffic IF I could get my father in law to make it every weekend. Average drive to surrounding lakes is around 15-45 minutes. I would happily drive up to 3 hours if the fishing is dynamite. If there is fish, I will go!

Clayton. Us Texans refer to Houston as the butthole of Texas. IMO and personal experiences there, I would say you might not like it. But we all are different and alot of people call Houston home. if the job is great though maybe you should look into it further.

Define below average? Cowboys have 2 losing seasons in 10 years. They may be dissapointing at times but they are not below average. In fact the Cowboys are the absolute definition of average. If im not mistaken their lifetime record is nearly exactly 500 which IMO is exactly average.Cowboys get primetime spots and Turkey day because wether you or anyone else likes to hear it or not the Cowboys are Americas team. You are not America so because you dislike them doesnt mean they are not Americas team. No other team has more fans in the NFL spread around the world. Steelers are close im sure along with a few others. Let me clarify this post by saying I am not saying Dallas is the best team because I know more than all of you they are NOT. I think they are half way embarrassing to watch to be honest. But I am still a fan til I die. Cowboys get put in the limelight because their TV ratings blow any other game or TV show thats on in the same week totally out of the water! Look it up if you dont believe me. I have. Jerry Jones being a kagillionaire has nothing to do with Cowboys getting MNF and Thanksgiving other than he is outspoken and a spectactle himself along with his huge shiny new stadium. NFL fans love the Cowboys, or love to hate the Cowboys. Either way they are the topic of alot of football talk. CBS or ESPN doesnt care if the fans watching the game are watching because they are Cowboy fans or haters, all they care is that they watch. And they do. And to whoever said Cowboys fans are bandwaggoners needs to learn what a bandwaggoner is. Someone who hops on to ride the good times and hops off when its bad. If you have been a lifelong cowboy fan and didnt give up after the mid 90's, you may be one of the most loyal fans of any team in sports history lol.

I love giving when I can, as much as I can. Pizza guys get 5-10. Waiters/waitresses get anywhere from 15-30 with good service depending on the Bill of course. For my wife and the Bill is usually 50$ Max. To go orders don't receive tips from me. I don't see any real work being done. My wife on the other hand tips everyone in a restaurant provably because she has worked in the business for 8 years now.

I see rod sensitivity as more of an issue for inexperienced or new anglers. I know there's a difference in a broom stick and gloomis. But I think it is way over hyped for the most part. I have never had an issue with sensitivity from my bps graphite rods to my shimano crucial. Just my opinion though. Money is better spent on a reel.
