  1. Myself being Dominate left, I handle the rod with my left hand regardless of casting, flipping/pitching etc and I only reel with my right. For me Power, coordination, sensitivity etc. is probably best served for handling the rod in my left hand instead of ONLY turning a handle with it. It makes sense IMO and seems NORMAL to do so. When using Spinning gear, I switch the handle over accordingly. I think that dominate right handers would be better served to do just the opposite... NOW for the FUN STUFF With all of this said, I'm FIRMLY convinced that what are referred to in todays market as "Right Handed Reels" were originally designed BY and FOR "Dominate Left Fishermen" And maybe the Dominate Lefty Designer figured that Dominate Righty fishermen would have enough common sense to know the difference Or possibly there wasn't enough room on the box to include "IF YOU'RE A DOMINATE RIGHTY... DON'T BUY THIS... BUY THE OTHER ONE!!! THIS REEL IS FOR DOMINATE LEFTY'S ONLY WHO WANT TO CAST, PITCH, FLIP, TWITCH, JUMP, FIGHT AND CONTROL FISH WITH THEIR DOMINATE LEFT HAND AND ONLY TURN A HANDLE WITH THEIR WIMPY RIGHT HAND". LOL... I love these types of discussions

  11. I agree with the info above as well, and here's my 2 cents Flippin/pitchin is a drawing a reaction strike for the most part. For all of the waters that I fish regardless of locale, in 3 ft or more depth I recommend 3/8 to 1/2oz minimum and up to 1oz for increased depths and/or windy conditions. Slightly heavier presentations are easier to control for precise accuracy and better water entry when pitching, IMO. Rattles in dirty water or low light conditions. I use high action trailers regardless of water temps and slow my own movements or cover the water much slower and more thouroghly in cold conditions. Change the length or bulk in order to tweak the bite to optimum results. Craw style trailers are a standard throughout most parts of the country but I will use the Eeliminator when a longer profile is preferred by the fish and rigged as shown (3/4 inch off of head and threaded on the hook tail turned up toward the hook point)... This is not a plug for the bait... the wide tail whip gets'em excited on the fall or swimming and no other trailer can produce this action. This is all my opinion and hope it helps!

  16. Football jigs are not ONLY for rocks and nor are they for ALL rocks! A football jig can be used on any relatively firm bottom with good success including sand, shell, firm clay or otherwise. Deep silt or muck bottoms are not good for dragging any jig especially footballs due to their wide stance. In large, jagged, and more coarse rocks, the football can be a nightmare due to snagging the wider head in the cracks. I use a basic Stand up jig like the Siebert Outdoors Brush jig or Moaner Hooks Predator jig in these conditions. They continue to hold the bait in an upright posture and make ample commotion and noise when working the rocks. Another technique or tactic to remember when fishing big nasty rocks is keep any dragging from the side or with the rod tip down to a minimum to avoid the hang ups. Better to maintain a higher position on your rod tip using slow gentle hops to keep it on top of them instead of settling down in the deeper cracks. Your technique of slow dragging and gentle hopping over the rocks is a fine way to fish them as you have seen. In fact, that is how I fish casted jigs more often than not. Also switching or high jumping a jig allowing it to fall back on a slack line is another important technique to employ at times. It not only attracts the bottom dwellers but also attracts other fish that are suspended higher up off off the bottom. You're on the right track, so just keep an open mind and so much of this will come natural to you...
  17. Here's a Big Head that Matt Wilson caught on his 1oz Moaner Predator Jig trailed with a Rage Craw He's a MACHINE with that rig in his hands and what a FIGHT It was a perfect set up, rocky point falling into the river channel and a stiff cross breeze to keep things interesting. The boat rocks on the hookset and I immediately hear Matt say "This One Is SERIOUS". After some intense line stretching and several top thrashes, she finally gave in and joined us in the boat... IMO, from the hookset to lifting the fish from the water is WOW WTG MATT
