  1. Here's a short clip and it shows both action and rigging footage on the single tail grub, hope it helps! http://youtu.be/9zFIHToj_aQ
  2. Hey Deak, Thanks and pm your address pls...
  3. Good stuff is all that I can say... Oh and when you learn all about it, I'll need you to show me how to use mine, I've had it for 2 years and it's still in the BOX
  4. I guess you've been on a long Fishing excursion huh JT... Go ahead and tell us all about it Welcome Back
  5. I'd say that you have summed it all up NICELY and Ms M... I always have FUN, I just got off the water and need to take a 'short break'
  6. LOL.. This looks like a fun thread and I've just returned from out of town where I was trying to 'LEARN HOW TO LAND THAT BIG FISH' and maybe answer rangerboys original Question Here's my take, its always great to be prepared and have the right tackle in your hands when she hits. Personally I use 1 style rod for everything, a 7'11 heavy action St Croix Rage Rod and 2 different lines, 65 lb suffix braid for flippin' brush and trash, and 25 pound vicious pro elite flouro for fishing deep, jagged rocks, and extreme clear conditions. Not to say that you can't do it with lesser tackle but this hvy stuff works well for me. Ck your drag prior to the first cast of the outing to make sure that it's not froze up. Set the drag according to the baits and style of presentation you choose because they will all be different accordingly. EXAMPLE: Crank baits, small dia lines, thin wire hooks, fish is in open water etc., a softer drag setting than flipping brush, heavy line, heavy wire hooks etc. Where someone mentioned above... Both of the Winch 'em OUT videos I and II are the PERFECT EXAMPLE and are in fact instructional videos for those who want to know the VERY BEST technique for flippin' fish out of heavy cover. THERE IS NO BETTER WAY and I believe that they are the first videos of their type with a detailed explanation to assist those who want to know the ABSOLUTE BEST and MOST CORRECT technique to use. If a person views the videos and takes the time to pay attention to the technique (and not just the size of the fish caught) and also takes the time to read the copy at the end of Winch 'em OUT 1, it gives detailed instruction on how and what to do in this situation. Also, if you view the Winch 'em OUT 2 video without prejudice, you will see several slow motion visuals showing that the fish are not in shallow water... but in 14 to 20ft. After I clear any and all obstructions with the fish, you will notice the PERFECT technique necessary to land any fish BIG or SMALL in deep water conditions. I can't see anywhere in the video that I appear overly anxious, getting too excited or in a hurry. Hopefully I'm demonstrating complete control because I've been doing this same stuff for almost 50 yrs now and it's hard for me to get too excited about anything anymore, you be the judge As for weights on the the fish on the WII video... YES 4 of them were over 10 and one was 13.90. I had to weigh the 13.90, because in 'Flippin a Fatty' (a different clip of the same fish), I'm overheard calling a weight during the battle on camera so weighing was called for! BTW, I am 6'4" 235 so if you're trying to size up a fish in reference to me GOOD LUCK. For a fact the majority of my big fish come from 20 ft. depths or more and I pride myself in the ability to not only get the fish in the boat for a little chat, but also to get her back in the water EXACTLY where she was caught safe and sound with the minimal harm. As in so many situations, it's easy to doubt others... especially when we're not in their game. And some will continue to doubt even when they see it for themselves, but that's OK too... Different Strokes for Different Folks
  7. Now that's Catchin' right there WTG you guys!
  8. The last photo was Rodman Reservoir and I was in pig city. The mouth of the channel pre-spawn. It's has always been a favorite Fla lake.
  9. Rig as illustration shows and problem solved. Hope this helps. http://www.ragetail.com/news/rigging-info/ 1) The Rage Toad provides more splash and water movement than any other soft plastic Toad or Frog design. It is slightly less aggressive than the Rage Shad and excellent in both open water as well as over pads and grass beds. 2) The Rage Toad should be rigged on a 5/0 minimum EWG Superline hook. Insert the hook point in the nose of the Toad approximately 3/8 to ½ inch and bring it out under the toad’s chin. Push the hook completely thru turning it over so that the point of the hook is pointing towards the bottom of the Toad. Leave the eye of the hook slightly exposed in the tip of the nose. Re insert the hook completely thru the belly just ahead of the V between the Toads legs and lay the hook point and barb in the recessed back slot. Then push the point forward to skin hook in the front of the slot to make it totally weedless. Important to keep the nose and bottom of the Toad in its original keel or boat shape so that it will plane out on the surface easily and run perfectly true. If hooked incorrectly, the Toad’s back will be bowed upward and the toad will flip over on its back during the retrieve. 3) You can also use a keel weighted hook for similar top water action and receive further distance in casting and/or wake bait swimming just below the surface. 4) When using screw lock hooks, you can go up on the hook size up to 5/0 and 6/0 as they allow the hooks eye to set more forward than a standard 5/0 EWG hook and won’t stretch out the overall length of the body. 5) Important – Pause a second after the strike to let the line tighten or let the fish load up on the Toad before setting the hook. Many times with top waters on the original strike, the fish will try to cripple the bait then they will quickly turn and eat it. So this slight pause before setting the hook is recommended.
  10. You're Fishing... and that more than many of us can say WTG!
  11. Holidays, hunting and bad weather kept me from fishing recently and I came across a few old photos that brought back fun memories The last photo of three jig fish was in Fla back in '82. Fun times for sure and I never don't remember getting tired regardless of how long I fished. Hope you get a kick out of'em Got a break in my schedule this week so I'm off to do a little FUN fishing and hope to find a few Fatties that wanna PLAY
  12. FINE Fish, and WTG
  13. LOL to some of your responses and YES I think that color matters most when COLOR MATTERS MOST I call it TWEAKING the bite to it's OPTIMUM. With Finicky fish, pressured waters in clear and bright conditions, color is more important. Stained water and low light, not so much. There ARE times when the extra flash of a silver/brass/grey weight improves the bite on a T rig set up where the weight isn't pegged... It's possible that a fish thinks that your worm/creature SP is distracted, with it's attention on chasing a small object (your loose weight) to the bottom for feeding, giving the bass an opportunity to attack. Hope that helps...
  14. GOOD TIMES!!! WTG you two
  15. Very Nice... and a GREAT start for the Year Fo Sho
  16. FINE story and Fish, WTG!
  17. WTG! A lot of great stories and adventures in those numbers too
  18. In the early 70's I was fishing the Fla lakes as often as possible and on one particular trip, I talked my Dad into making that long drive from Texas with me... As luck would have it, our fishing was unbelievable and so was our week together! When we take a close friend or relative with us on little adventures, we always hope that it's a FUN and Memorable trip, this was all of that and some
  19. Nice ones WTG!
  20. Jay Ell Gee, there were some of the RT's that were placed on shelves before the Clams were in stock which IMO illustrates the importance of the clams even more. The RageToad can be tweaked to tone the aggression all the way down to a mere tickling of the waters surface, so it's versatility takes it to another level as well. The RageShad can be tweaked in the same manner...
  21. Merry Christmas Everyone! Hope y'all have a Wonderful and Safe Holiday Season.
  22. I'm a FAN TOO! Been fishing them since ICAST and have really put them through the paces... They're 'SWEEEEET' and well worth it. Only two rods with'em at this point, one of my jig casting rods and a C rig set up. Best on the Market IMO. You won't be disappointed!!!
  23. Looks like Fun Shane... Next time I'm in your area I need to try some of that canal fishing!
  24. Ck out the Rigging info on the Rage Toad and if you follow that style of hooking inst. with any toad or soft plastic Top water... they'll perform correctly. I use weighted hooks as well but for any one of these reasons when necessary: wind, waves, further casts, faster retrieves and changing sound to deeper tone. http://www.ragetail.com/news/rigging-info/rigging-diagrams/
  25. To help answer some of your questions, here's a link to the video pg. on the RT website... It has 3 different action videos that show many of the individual baits in action. All RT's are designed to have the best action, at minimum fall rates or retrieve speeds, on the market. Each of the subsurface baits are displayed with 1/4oz maximum weight, which is the most popular size weight used across the country. IMO, versatility is the name of the game and although each design has it's own specific use strong points, the majority of them can be used and/or tweaked for use in several other presentation styles with great results. For sure, don't underestimate the use of the Rage Rig with any of our products and others as well. The key is to have a properly designed weighted hook, like the Moaner Weighted Stroker, that allows a more horizontal fall, where the weight is positioned further back, yet still allows the bait room to roll up on the hookset and more hydro dynamic in it's design. It's perfect for this style of fishing. You can find many other ideas in the rigging section etc,. and if you have other questions, just ask As for Long Mike's comment on Mint Julips... he's right, I've never tried'em But I probably was having an adult beverage or two during the design phase of some of the RT's Heck, I might have to mix one up tonight Thanks for all of your comments and yes, many other designs are waiting in line for release dates so I'm not done YET!!! http://www.ragetail....ws/rage-videos/
