  1. Well that stinks! I've never been there, but a friend told me you could fish topwater there in the middle of January. I was hoping to check it out this cold season.
  2. Thanks for the comments. I should have mentioned that polarized is a must... to see the fishies! I've seen those Berkley glasses ranging from about $7-20. I really want a pair of nice Oakleys, but can't justify the $180-200.
  3. I need some opinions on the best pair of glasses that I can buy for under $100. I'm not particularly careful with my glasses and they don't usually end up lasting more than a year, so I'm reluctant to spend any more than that... maybe a little over if there's a big jump in quality. I just broke my Jersey Turnpike specials and need to pick up a new pair soon. What say you? ..and Thanks!
  4. That's a good sized fish to be swimming around in 3 inches of water! ;D
  5. It looks to be a tidal pool? Brackish water? Are there even bass in there? I'm not finding much info so far.
  6. Anyone know anything about it? My family is renting a house very close to it all next week. I hadn't planned on bringing any gear. Is there boat/gear rental place on or near the lake? Thanks for any info. This will be my first trip to Cali.
  7. nevermind! I found it.
  8. Try fishing Burke Lake with live bait some time. I've seen a 7+ lber. caught off the fishing pier using a live bluegill. Same day another guy caught a 4-5 lb. fish dragging a live crayfish. From my experience live bait is the key to fishing that lake in the daytime anyway.
  9. I located several "beer bottle" piles the last time I fished it in May. LOL All I could think of was a guy sitting in his boat anchored in one location hanging out for several hours finishing off his 12 pack and dropping the bottles in a pile on the lake bottom.
  10. Somebody needs to show me where the elusive brush piles are.
  11. The place we bought our backyard playground from is around there. I've driven around and there are several corporate park ponds there. I was tempted to wet a line a few weeks ago, but I had all the kids with me. Let us know how you do.
  12. Welcome NewAngler. Spend some time reading... http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html As for a beginner bait, you really can't go wrong with a senko... http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/senko.html
  13. I need to resurrect this thread again because I believe I just saw this boat on Lunkerville last night. What seats are you using?
  14. Really. That's interesting. I wouldn't think they'd survive the heat in the Summer. How deep is Mercer?
  15. I've never heard of anyone catching any pickeral or pike in the small ffx county lakes. I think they would probably get to warm in the Summer to sustain a population of either. Maybe a big cat?
  16. mudkart and I carried my 12 ft. jonboat from the cul-de-sac at the end of Chatsworth Ct. a few weeks ago for some night fishing. We each boated one. It was really windy. If I launch again I'll find a better access point for launching a boat. Anyway, park on Chatsworth if fishing the bank.
  17. Thanks again for posting Andrew. The weeds don't seem to be an issue yet. Last year's dead algae is another story.... Every cast would retrieve a bait covered in it in a few spots. Tides in fresh water certainly was an interesting experience for me. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time out. As for the weather, I always try to keep an eye on it. I grew up fishing Lake Ontario where 3 foot swells can sneak up on you quickly. 2 years ago my buddies and me got caught in this mess on a lake on the NY/Canada border... Our camp was on the far shoreline. Yikes!
  18. Please do school me offline. I'd love to hear it. Is NASA a better source? http://data.giss.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/gistemp/do_nmap.py?year_last=2008&month_last=12&sat=4&sst=1&type=anoms&mean_gen=0112&year1=1999&year2=2008&base1=1940&base2=1980&radius=1200&pol=reg
  19. Can you back that up Wayne? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Global_Warming_Map.jpg I'm not a big proponent of the global warming conspiracy but I do vote for legislation that comes out of it. I am an anti-pollution advocate which is real.
  20. If it's fountainhead I could bring my Jon. I'd have an extra seat or two depending on how crowded you want to be.
  21. NOVA... Burke lakes/ponds.
  22. My dogwoods seem to bloom about two weeks after everyone else's. ...just an observation.
  23. The nice warm bed won that fight this morning.
  24. Where's the best place to park when fishing Huntsman? Anyone? TIA.
  25. Nice! How big is your tank? This sure would be interesting to watch...
