  1. I went with #3, knowing #1 and #2 would probably take some of the fun out of it for me. You can always cast a heavy blade bait at #4....
  2. Texas Rigged Worm Spent my entire childhood building confidence in the T-Rig

  4. Any good Texas rigged swimming worm in June Bug. Legend has it, you can catch bass in lakes, ponds, canals, and even on dry land with that set up anywhere in Florida.
  5. In 3-4 years you have probably had time to develop a few techniques that you have utmost confidence in. One of the most important things I learned over the years is to fish your own game. Don't try to learn new stuff on tournament day. 11:00 AM with no fish in the boat is not the time to learn how to skip docks because somebody said that's where they are at. Focus on what you know on tourney days. When you fish through a spot with your confidence baits and don't get bit, you will feel much better about making the next move, and you will begin trusting your instincts. As you develop trust in other techniques, you will see the improvement you are looking for. Also @12poundbass makes another and probably more important point. You are doing the right thing. Eat, sleep, and breath bass fishing in your off time on forums and other learning platforms. It will come!
  6. BINGO!
  7. If you are catching tons of little ones, it may to too heavily populated to grow bigs. They need a crazy amount of forage for weight gain. I see you are in Texas, try a little night time top water this summer.
  8. Sometimes God puts the right person just where they need to be. Crazy story, I'm glad to hear all turned out well.

    Welcome to the community!
  10. I fished co for a while. I would bring 5 without a spinning rod and 4 with one. Spinning rods tangled so easy. Try to eliminate bringing similar rods with varying line size and bring extra reels you can swap out quickly. Soft sided bag that can hold 3-4 plano boxes and a few soft plastics, limit your colors, and condense similar colors into the same bags. Weather permitting, packable rain gear made for hikers does great when needed and is super easy to pack. Ask if you can dump your snacks in the boaters cooler the night before and bring what you need in a plastic grocery sack. Sack can then be used to pack up your trash and spent plastics to help keep the boat clean, Do not bring bananas! Another pro tip...I love it when a co brings an extra breakfast sandwich in the morning!
  11. My brother lives in Cali, and I am in Georgia. Every year we get together for a week either here or there for the sole purpose of spending few days on the water. On occasions, we ditch the bass boats and opt for flip flops and bank fishing like we did when we were kids. Good times! My brother got a little wet and lost a flip flop wading into the lily pads to get this unwrapped. That my friends is the definition of family! Terry
  12. https://vantagetackle.com/collections/jakes-lure-joint/products/jakes-lure-joint-3-75-kicker Link for this one guys
  13. I'm intrigued. Looks like it would be fun to try. I would have to train myself to flip with one of my Swim Bait rods...LOL
  14. Just loaded some new lures on the website today from Jake's Lure Joint. Designed by owner Jacob Schroeder out of Missouri, the new 3.75" Kicker looks like it is going to be one heck of a trailer or a great stand alone bait for ned heads, wobble heads, various flipping techniques. Ribbed body, and fairly compact legs with some aggressive "flappers" to impart action. Can't wait to see these in action! I would live to hear what you guys think of this one? Terry
  15. Welcome!
  16. There is a new website I have heard some guys talking about that offers waypoints for sale from some pretty stout tournament competitors. It's been stirring a bit of controversy around whether this would be considered ethical for use in tournaments. Maybe this is what he mentioned? https://fishtips.com/
  17. If Bass will not eat a lure with grass clinging to it, why haven't bait fish evolved to carry grass around to keep from getting eaten?

    Jitterbug

There is very cool episode on The Big Bass Podcast where Ken Duke literally breaks down how and why the Musky Jitter Bug is possibly the best big bass lure in history. I have a cedar version from the fifties I am planning to send to a painter to refurbish!
