    that's great man! real cool.
  7. awesome!!! congrats big time!
  8. i'm glad i noticed this. trey, you should be an outdoor writer my man. hope you and me both have plenty more days like that one you described. just awesome man!
  9. well trey, i guess my suggestion would be this. when you fish the deep water, cover the entire water column. for some reason, a lot of fishermen make the mistake of bottom fishin' only when they fish deeper water. yeah, you wanna make sure you cover that, BUT do not forget the rest of the water column. just because the water is 30 feet deep don't mean the fish are 30 feet deep. fishing below the fish in 10 ft or less is not that big a deal as they can usually see your bait anyway. if you are fishin' below 'em in 30 ft. of water, you might not even be in the game. divide the water column into thirds. use baits that will thoroughly cover the top third (0-10ft) (including topwater believe it or not), the middle third (10-20 ft) and the bottom third (20-30 ft). i'm just using 30 ft as an example here, but this strategy will work in a variety of water depth. by doing this, if the fish are feeding, you will eliminate options and eventually find not only a bait that they like, but more importantly the depth they are using. you can fine tune from there. since visibility is less in deeper water, i tend to use bigger baits and/or baits fish can locate by noise or vibration also. since you are using this as a strategy to catch big fish, you will have to be patient. the cali guys on here will tell ya that a lot of times, it's a waiting game with big fish. if you have confidence that an area holds big fish (deep or shallow) sometimes you have no choice but to wait until they decide to eat. hope this helps buddy and best of luck to ya in your never-ending quest for the bigguns this year.
  10. i took my little emily out fishin' yesterday and she had a blast. she caught some real nice bluegills and a 1.5 and a 3 pound bass to boot on some of the smaller gills we kept for bait. the only downside was that she lost big bass, a real heartbreaker. but in true 6y.o. fashion, she wasn't fazed at all, just happy with the ones she had. well, i went for a while with her again today. this time, she was done after catchin' a few bream. but she did ask me if i caught the fish she lost yesterday, to make sure she got a picture with it. i figured since the live bream worked pretty good yesterday, i'd just go with that again. but i wasn't interested in 3 pounders, so i chunked a bluegill out that was about hand-sized. took a while, but the bluegill started exhibiting the jitters and nervousness they always do when a biggun' is about to make lunch out of 'em. and buddies, let me tell ya, when this one hit she meant business!!! she absolutely freight-trained the gill and the fight was on! she gave a real good account of herself too on the little spinning rod. 7-5 on the digital scale. ;D i got little em over there for a quick pic and put the fish back. i asked her if she thought that was the one she lost yesterday. she said excitedly, "i think this one was even bigger!" what a way to end another great fishin' trip with my sweet girl! hope y'all are catchin' some too.
  11. nice fish man. i'm gonna say 4.5-5.5 too. congratulations.
  12. great job and nice fish man. nothing like catchin' a good 'un on a new bait. i got some of those subwalks too. can't wait for my first bite on one.
  13. real, REAL nice one man. i'm stoked for ya.
  14. great job man!
  15. thanks man. but i should have been a little clearer with my question. what i meant was this. is there a way to do multiple pix on here with the "browse" feature below without using a secondary site?
  16. btw, can somebody tell me how to attach more than one pic to a post? thanks and hope y'all have a good weekend.
  17. i was able to get out a few hours yesterday and go after 'em. the water was high and dirty just like it has been, but the difference was yesterday the water temp was 54 instead of 46 like earlier this week. fished for a while with no luck and then finally found 'em in about 4-5ft. of water on a large main-lake flat with some grass. i was trying out my new rattle bait, the xcalibur xr50 against a spro aruku shad and old faithful, the rattle trap. long story short, the xcalibur kicked butt and took names. several fish on that bait (black/gold color) and none on ANYTHING else. EVERYTHING else i tried just zeroed and believe me, i tried plenty. they were still kinda lethargic, and were just kinda suckin' that rattle bait in and loading up the rod rather than smackin' the paint off of it like they sometimes do. caught several 1's and 2's, one that was probably 3 plus, and then a real nice one that went 7-7. ;D i was pretty happy to meet her too. tried some other spots after the bite slowed up on the flat but blanked so i went back to my hot area and caught a few more after they had a chance to regroup. the water temp started dropping with the sprinkling rain and evening coming on and the fish moved back out off the flat and suspended in about 10 ft. of water. they shut completely down then, and that was all she wrote. but i was glad i was able to capitalize on the feeding window. here's a couple of pix of the biggun. sorry, but i was by myself so all i could do was just take a couple of pix of the fish. released as usual. hope y'all are catchin' some too.
  18. no need to be modest buddy. i know you just wanted to be nice and spot everyone a few points before you kicked their tails in the end. i know it'll get better for ya and you'll get back to your bass bustin' ways. good luck man.
  19. fantastic post and great fish! congrats on the new pb man.
  20. here's a nice one i caught today. weighed 7-7. caught on a 5' deep grass flat w/ an xcalibur xr50 gold/black rattle bait. sorry, but no one was with me to take pix of me holding her. did the best i could for a pic. if it don't qualify, i understand. no big deal. tn state record is 14.5 lbs. hope y'all are catchin' a few too. 7.4 / 14.5 x 100 = 51.03 points
  21. chris, i'm glad to see the you haven't let those crazy new fishin' regulations you were talkin' about get ya down. obviously your still gettin' after em buddy. you just can't keep a good man down. hope you get your 19 (or better) this year.
  22. awesome. great fish man!!!
  23. man i'm happy for ya. i know you got a huge adrenaline rush out of lippin' that fatty - even more than jumpin' or hill climbin' the dirt bike. i know, i've done both too. fishin' usually results in less serious injuries though.
  24. very nice. congratulations to ya.
  25. welcome from a fellow tennessean.
