  1. The pics for my area aren't high res. Just curious, what lakes are you looking at where you can see some cover?
  2. Thanks. So with reels is it pretty much a good reel is good for flipping or are there specific reels that are better for flipping than others?
  3. So I just decided I "need" another baitcaster setup. I love my current do all baitcaster but I'm looking for a flip/pitch specific reel. Anyone have any reviews for the US reel supercaster or have any other suggestions for a flipping reel? <$175
  4. Thanks guys! I'm trying to do a little research on the guides before I book. If anyone has any other suggestions keep them coming!
  5. Hey Guys I'm honeymooning in florida next month and looking to do some fishing with the soon to be wifey. I'll be close to Orlando. Any advice on guides, ect? Thanks!
  6. I've only seen a few episodes and I loved it. One I remember was when mike was fishing with a guy who was promoting his home made jigs. He kept saying how awesome they were for that lake but the bite was obviously tough. Mike switched to his senko and was hookin some small fish. You could tell the guy was just like grrrrrr with every fish mike caught! haha! Love the show mike, keep the down to earth real guy fishing up!
  7. Heck yeah for a montana thread!!! I'm in kalispell. I fish echo, blanchard, and every now and then middle thompson.
  8. about 2 weeks ago I asked what fish finder I should get in the 200-300 dollar range and numerous people said the 565 was the one to get. At the time cabela's had the cheapest price I found.
  9. Thanks! you guys are awesome. 8-)
  10. I'm looking for a fishfinder <$250 and need advice. I don't trust the guys at the sports store as they seem to point me to the high $$ GPS equip finders no matter what I tell them. I've never fished with any electronics so I know I have a lot to learn but I first need someone to start me off with finding a good unit. I know absolutely nothing. The lakes I fish are less than 60 ft deep. Boat is a 15 ft tri-hull. Transducer will probably be mounted on the trolling motor (at least from what I've learned so far). Thanks for any advice!
  11. I have a 66 40hp johnson. The electromatic needs type C oil. It's a bit thinner. I just found this on some forums this winter but I previously ran the standard lower unit oil in the motor for 3 years and hadn't had any problems. I'm definitely switching to the type C this spring though.
  12. HAHA! I'm already sorry! Honestly, I do think it was over 6, but I don't know how much if any. When people in MT see that pic the first thing they talk about is the mt record, but you all know how us fishermen get! We feed off each other and it just snowballs! Somewhat on topic: I appreciate you acknowledging how slow the bass grow here and how it's not extremely common to see +5lb bass. Bassin in MT is getting better. It's becoming more popular and the management is improving. last winter a guy showed up with a pic and a scale sayin he just let go a 8 1/2 lber he caught THROUGH THE ICE. edit: brokejew-good reference shot. I agree, <7 for sure. RWHusker-Echo lake, 15 minutes from kalispell.
  13. I weigh the decent fish I catch but unfortunately didn't have the scale when this was caught. Having weighed quite a few fish in the 5-6 range I was hoping people would say 7-8 since this is for sure the biggest fish I've caught especially with the girth. Record in montana is a little over 8. Thanks for the input guys!
  14. I'm a little embarrassed to ask this question since I'm a noob but I've been curious for too long. let's hear some guesses! Although the angles make the fish look quite different, it's the same fish, I better include an intro... 24 years old, montana, been fishing since the wee days but don't remember the last time I caught a trout which I get made fun of A LOT for since I live in trout country. Race motocross, fish, and try to study. Gonna graduate this fall in Business/information systems. Thanks guys!
