  1. Harris and Eustis are very shallow and ringed with Maidencane (kissimmee grass). But it is also has many docks that have clear openings to deeper water. These openings in the Maidencane will usually have eel grass growing on the bottom. Take a rattle trap and rip it across the top of the eel grass. Use a gold/orange belly or firetiger. There are several productive mussel bars outside of spawning areas that should have prespawn fish on them. I will send you some GPS coords when I get time. FD
  2. I share everything with my buddies and people on here that ask. I have even sent google earth maps to people who are struggling on Toho or Kissimmee. I have had the benefit of others who have helped me in the past so I feel an obligation to help others. The lakes I fish regularly are huge 35+ thousand acres shallow bowls with very little structure so most of the good info is only good for a few days. Pattern info is more productive if you know the lake but I will send people to specific spots based on what pattern is working.
  3. I use Gama 4/0 or 5/0 superline EWG hooks for flipping. I have never bent one.
  4. Don't feel bad about Harris. I hate that chain. I have fished it many, many times and have never had a great day. I would look for moving water and then heavy vegetation in 4-5 ft of water. Frogs early and then pitching the heavy stuff with a blue fluke or blue black jig. All 3 of these baits resemble a blue gill and that is what the bass have been keying on lately.
  5. lcpointerkilla is the expert on the Conway chain. You might send him a PM.
  6. Usually standing or on the leaning post.
  7. Bitters Baits, a local bait producer makes their plastics with salt and hog lard. When the temps are up in the 90s they smell like bacon cooking...yuuuuuuummmmmmm.
  8. I have been playing for several months. I think it is relaxing and my family, including the out of state ones, all play, so we actually chat more in farm town than we used to.
  9. 68 to 70 degrees, I pay no attention to. But in March the difference between 58 and 61 is huge. In August the difference between 88 and 91 is noticeable. Anywhere in between 65 and 85 does not seem to make a difference.
  10. ^^ punctuation is overrated... Johnson spoon with a trailer fished around heavy vegetation.
  11. X3 I watch with anticipation of seeing one the unemployed hippies getting his "I'm a dork" busted by the Japanese. They were complaining last week that the Whalers were throwing steel nuts and them and were "trying to hurt them". Never mind the fact that if they were not in the Antartic, being busy bodies, trying to deploy a prop fouler, they would not be in harms way. I think I will send the whalers some wrist rockets and marbles...
  12. Steel cable and a broomstick! 65 lb power pro and a 7-9 elite tech swimbait rod with a 7.1 to 1 reel. I like a 1.5 oz tungsten, 5-0 ewg superline hook, and a streamlined bait like a sweet beaver or crawdaddy. Anywhere you have topped out or matted vegetation. Hydrilla, Maidencane or pads. Pitch or flip into the thickest, nastiest stuff you can find. Watch your line as it goes down. The bite is usually on the fall. A twitch in you line or just a tick is usually all you will notice.
  13. Same thing in cycling. You either love it, and understand all of the nuances that are going on or you hate it. It was reported on mainstream sports shows all last week that "Lance is still in 3rd place". It was never mentioned why it was good that he was in 3rd and that was exactly where he wanted to be. The reruns of the fishing shows will be back next Sunday.
  14. Another yankee crosses the mason dixon line and wants to go fishing....what to do? This one is the cousin of a VIP client and not to mention a really nice guy. This is his first Fl bass on Saturday.
  15. I could give you some spots for 5 pounders. However, I did not completely understand your question. When you take the time to use words that are in the dictionary, I will take the time to give you some spots. FD
  16. If you come to central Fl and want to fish Toho or Kissimmee then we can help you out. FD and warmer's semi professional guide suggestion service complete with a day on board a 15 yr old state of the art (most things work) Stratos that's not so pretty but catches lots of fish. We have had several guests that seem to have been satisfied. references ghoti K.Fox GeneinTX skillet on second thought don't ask him...
  17. Your brain was not in the way. If you go again in the next year you'd probably crush a 100. That's been my experience anyway.
  18. If I were going to be fishing a tournament on toho, here's how to win it. Carolina rig a BIG dark worm. The channel narrows to within a few hundred yards just east of Reed Island. From that narrow point work you way south looking for the hydrilla that is less than a foot tall. There is a hard edge to it. When you find them they are in packs and mostly 5 lbs and up. 5 th place in our tourney this weekend was 22 lbs. The first 5 places were doing this within site of each other.
  19. That lake is not big enough for that tourney. You will be able to cast to another boat all around you. $2000 first place is going to draw over a 100 boats on a 700 ac lake. Fish somewhere else if I were you. FD
  20. I think that fishing in general is luck...skill, practice, preparation only increases your chances. There are days that you go out and catch only small one or get skunked. Does that mean you no longer have any skill? No, just unlucky that day.
  21. around 14 with a spare rod and different reels stored in the dry locker 6 on deck this time of year frog spro swim jig skinny dipper crank carolina rig flippin stick
  22. this time last year I was catching them on chrome/black rattles traps. If you put in at Yellow Jacket and come under the bridge, on the left there is a rock drop off on the entrance to the first creek arm. Boated a bunch of spots there and on the submerged dam just inside the creek.
  23. Avid's right, it's called the okechobee rig. It is made by Sizmic. It comes with a pack of 3 jungle toads but I just buy the warhead weight and use either a sweet beaver or double wide beaver with it. It is kind of tricky to rig to get the weight to stay tight to the bait but it works great in heavy cover. http://www.***.com/descpage-SWHW.html
  24. I like the double wide beaver too.
  25. My tackle box is 21 ft long and 96 in wide. I don't know exactly how many that is but it is a bunch. I have at least 150 hard baits and probably 300 different choices for plastic. I probably have a better selection on board than most mom and pop tackle shops. It's all organized in 3700's for the hard baits and terminal tackle and in sterilite containers for the soft plastics. It is very impressive, unfortunately it does not help me catch more fish. I catch a lot of fish but everything I have caught fish on in the last year would fit in 1-3700 and my shirt pocket.
