  1. Spool loose and brakes set to max to start with until you get your thumb trained.

  3. I have one on a 7-6 MH Vendetta and use is for everything.
  4. X2 - especially on the Pfluegers
  5. I own a Stratos 201. I have fished out of a Triton Tr20, Ranger, Bullet, and Gambler. The most "fishable" in my opinion is my Stratos. She is not as fast nor as stylish as many other boats. But, I have a 20 years old hull with no problems. I have bounced her off the stumps in Farm 13, run aground hard on a floating mat of crap in Kissimmee, run all over Tampa Bay and even been in the gulf. I have taught 3 teenagers to drive, dock and load with her and numerous other things you should not do with a bass boat. In my opinion they are tough and very stable in rough weather. Something you should consider living on Harris.
  6. Vince got out today in the rain doing some scouting for an upcoming trip and this is what he found. He had six bites in the last 30 minutes, losing 2 over 6 and boating these girls. Both were post spawn and volunteered for the "relocation program"
  7. Harris can be (and usually is) tough. I have a few spots that should be good for the next 6 weeks that will put you in the neighborhood of the post spawn fish. I will send you a map in a pm. There is also a guide that helped me out a lot when I first started fishing Harris and if I can find his info I will send that also. FD edit: http://www.lakecountybass.com/contact.html
  8. what is wrong with that boy...
  9. It was my pleasure to spend the day with you and the boys and Vince and I are glad you had a good time. From the first fish on the 3rd cast to the smack talk and text messages between boats to the burgers afterward, it was a great day. I only wish that Corey could have stuck that big one. See you guys again next year. <---------photo from secret lake x
  10. This is all you need for most natural Florida lakes under most conditions. Medium Heavy to Heavy rods with 30 to 65 lb braid. I have 9000 different baits in the boat but I always have the following on the deck. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/ Naked Swimmer watermellon/gold glitter,Rig with a bobber stop, 1/8 th oz bullet weight and a 3-0 EWG Superline hook on 30 lb Power Pro braid. Fish it fast just below the surface in the pads, around buggy whips or over the hydrilla. Bitters Vibe in blueberry and green pumkin Rig with same weight and hook as above on 12 lb berkley big game mono. https://www.megastrikefishingproducts.com/shop/ mega bug black/blue claws, Rig with a bobber stop, 1 oz tunsten bullet weight and a 3-0 EWG Superline hook on 65 lb Power Pro braid. Pitch it in and around the outside edges of the hydrilla and Kissimmee grass patches and in thick pads. http://www.gambler-bang.com/online-store.html Cane toad in Lane Toad, Rig the same as the naked swimmer above except on 65 lb braid. 10" ribbon tail worm in blue berry or junebug Rig the same as the megabug except with a 3/8 oz bullet. The only other rod you might need is a medium spooled with 12 lb big game and a 30lb snap. I use this to throw a zara spook, devils horse, rattle trap, and small square billed cranks.
  11. Sebring is kind of the black hole for members on this forum but at least you are centrally located. I would be happy to show you around Kissimmee next time I'm headed that way. As far as clubs go, the closest that I know of would be Winter Haven Lunker Lovers or Lakeland Bassmasters. I would join the American Bass Anglers http://www.americanbassanglers.com/dbn011.php and fish as a non boater in either the Istokpoga South or Toho divisions. You will get a quick education on how to fish those lakes. Most other lakes in central Fl fish the same. FD
  12. Just wash your hands in JJ's majic... ;D
  13. This is the place to post your Photos, Do your Math, and talk your smack.
  14. I don't know about "the man" but I can certainly get you headed in the right direction. North Tampa and Land O Lakes have tons of small private lakes if you can get access. There is Lake Tarpon to the NW, but I agree with Rob that this is a crap lake. There is the Hillsborough River with access off of 56th st and Fowler Ave and the Bypass Canal with many bank fishing possibilities. The "reel" action is east down I-4. While there are options at exit 10, Lake Thonotosassa and exit 17, Medard Park. The good fishing starts a little further in Polk county with Lake Gibson, Tenoroc, Saddle Creek Park and the Winter Haven Chain. An hour and a half from downtown Tampa and you are either at Big Toho marina, Camp Mack on Kissimmee, or several ramps on the Harris Chain. The under 2.5 hour category includes Orange/Lochloosa to the north, Lake George and the St Johns to the North East, and Istokpoga to the South East. Stick Marsh and the Big O are about 3 hours away. Shoot me a PM when you get here and need specifics.
  15. This thread is ova, done, thu, finito, CLOSED. A new thread will be started tomorrow to show your catches.
  16. 1976 - 10' Monarch with a 3 hp Chief with the gas tank in the top of the motor.
  17. I have this one on my 225 http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=23065&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=11151&storeNum=10106&subdeptNum=10451&classNum=10453 No drop in top end and if properly trimmed I get NO nose rise on take off. A 225 with this launches my 201 pro to plane in less than 3 ft of water. On a side note it improves the handling in rough water. Trim down at 3/4 throttle and the nose stays down and just plows thru the 2ft rollers on Kissimmee. FD
  18. I see people fishing all the time, but have never done it.
  19. From lithia, go south on SR 39 to Alafia State park. There are several ponds you can hike to either in the state park or just north of the park on the equestrian trails. Look that area up a Google Maps and you will see them. There is one at the equestrian trails that is about 2 miles from the parking area that is supposed to have huge fish in it, but I have not made the hike to it. There is also the Bypass canal about 1 mile north of I-4 on US 301. There is a nice park there and plenty of bank to walk. There is a county park at SR 60 and Dover Rd that is an old phosphate pit. Medard Park is closed to fishing due to levy repairs.
  20. X2 I only had to launch twice without the plug to learn that trick Also, there may be a kill switch on the throttle. Make sure it is ON, before you kill the battery trying to start it.
  21. I would not put a pad under the carpet. Boat carpet is glued down and I don't think the pad would last long. It would also hold water and be a general pain.
  22. https://public.myfwc.com/CrossDOI/LPIS/LicenseDetails.aspx The 7 day is $30 and the 12 month is $47. I would go with the 12 month. Where will you be staying? Boat or no boat? How far are you willing to drive?
  23. You have to go to the Tenoroc FMA office at the end of Tenoroc Mine Rd and sign in just like any other Tenoroc Lake. I think the fee is still $3 per adult. If you get caught without a permit then it's bad news. There is a FWC officer stationed at Tenoroc.
  24. Nicole with a texas rig worm on the brush pile between the bouys in the background. Taylor dragging a texas rig across a shell bar.
  25. If there are actually making money, they probably are not for sale.
