  1. A client of mine (who has never owned a boat) has a tr20 and I'm teaching him how to run it. It has a 250 xs merc and will absolutely fly. We were running across Kissimmee in a pretty heavy chop and looked down and we were doing 68 with plenty of pedal left. The ride was so smooth you did not notice the speed.
  2. Lake Front Park on the north end is your best ramp. Toho is not normally a froggin lake though. There is the occasional day where the bite is on but those are rare. Goblets cove is going to be your best bet. I will get you some local info when we get closer to your trip.
  3. Ditto on the EWG hooks
  4. I understand completely. Looked like a fire ant bite the first day. Three days later I decided to go to the ER. By the time they finished cutting on my fore arm, there was a hole big enough to hold a golf ball. Even with pain meds, it felt like they were using a rusty spoon and a wire brush. 4 months to completely heal.
  5. We know Glenn, but we still had to try. We are like Florida strain LM, we don't do well in the cold.
  6. It's beautiful in Florida in the spring. Just sayin
  7. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/naked-swimmer.html All you need. T-rig on a 3/0 EWG either weightless or with a 1/8 pegged bullet. Watermellon shad is my favorite. Oh, and hang on, they don't nibble on this bait.
  8. Lorance or Hummingbird or Garmin? The technologies are so close together that it really does not matter. Except for the quality of maps that is available for them. I would talk to some guys that fish the lakes you want to fish and find out which unit has the best maps.
  9. I have a 92 Stratos Hull with a 2002 Evinrude 225. I did the Sea star conversion earlier this spring. I wish I would have done it sooner. It only took my daughter and I about 3 hours to do it in the back yard. It took me longer to get the old rack and pinion steering out than it did to put the new hydralic in. Now its a piece of cake to trailer and navigate in a crowd. Sea star will have the right cylinder listed by your motor. The only thing you need to know is how long your cables are. I took my cable length and added a foot and that worked out great. Only a few tools are needed and if you can change spark plugs and actually read directions you should be fine doing it yourself. The only thing remotely difficult is bleeding the lines, and that was not too bad. You need two people and some patience.

  13. Welcome!
  14. I have 2 presidents that I bought used. IMO they are indestructible. I have never even cleaned them after 5 years. They have survived the abuse of teaching 8 yewts how to fish. I have never used a mitchell but you can't go wrong with the pflueger.
  15. I fish a buzz frog with 1 .25 oz bullet weight pegged. Fish over the top fast and then stop it and let it flutter down into the holes and the outside edge. Heavy rod and 65 lb braid.
  16. Since she is for it, then I would do it. It will be one less thing for her to worry about while you're gone. Hurry back!
  17. Narrow V's normally are gar feeding on the surface around here.
  18. Lake Parker produced some nice fish this morning. Casting a worm to the small patches of grass. Most fish that we caught were within range of shore bound fishermen. Go to the park on the west side and walk the bank from the boat ramp north.
  19. Beware of Oct 8!
  20. Well since I really don't know what I am doing, I asked those questions just to make myself sound smart. With answers to those questions, you can fine tune the presentation. If you're fishing in unproductive waters then all you are doing is practicing your casting and you are not learning anything about your lure presentation. The more information in the question, the more accurate the answers will be. Bluebasser86 has it right. Dark waters = Dark Colors and usually larger size or moving tail. Clear water = light colors and usually smaller size.
  21. Without knowing anything else I would say you are fishing to fast. Where are you fishing? Color of Water? Depth of lake? Water Temp? Answer these questions and we can help.
  22. Not that I am ready to crown them national champs, but the Gators look a lot better than they did last year and should be in the mix by the end of the season.
  23. I spent hours yesterday and today looking for the elusive crankbait. The bad news is I suck at this game more than I expected. The good news is I read dozens of articles I would have never seen, found useful links I did not know about, and I even played a game of Bass Boat Battleship. I guess I won after all.
  24. I have an old bomber 8a that was cracked and retired. Your's look much better. Good Job.
