  1. Thanks Wayne, I had my setting more toward locating, not realizing I should change them for closer inspection. That was dumb on my part.
  2. What were your settings for the SI? I can't get fish images that clear.
  3. I have the 1198 at the console. I can't wait to get one for the bow. Ditto on finding stuff I did not know existed. It is very easy to eliminate structure that does NOT have any fish on it.
  4. I started fishing in a 17'6" aluminum, next was a 21' glass and now a 20'6" glass. The most important question is WHERE are you going to fish. Bigger water means you need more boat for comfort and safety. Smaller water suggests less boat with ease of loading and less cost. I fish big lakes that can get rough and dangerous in a matter of minutes so you will never find me in a small boat again.
  5. As some of you know I started a new business this spring and to celebrate our survival/success, I am having a weekend get together here - http://oakharbor-rv....or/Welcome.html on Oct 5-6-7 for my employees, family and friends. Now that we have everything figured out and reservations made, I am inviting all of my BR family to join us. If you want to stay in a cabin for the weekend, let them know you are with the group and get a 15% discount. If you want to come hang out with us for the day on a private lake, let me know so I can get you the gate access code. Bring the wife, kids, grandkids, even the neighbors kids. This place is a very family friendly place with something for everyone enjoy. Dinner on Saturday night is being catered by Sonny's BBQ.
  6. Put Nicole and I on the list. We will be there this year.
  7. I've not heard about anyone using. I have not even tied mine on in several months.
  8. Congrats. and check your messages.
  9. You don't need pads to fish frogs. You do need a frog to fish pads quickly. Frogs let you cover a large amount of water quickly looking for the aggressive fish. When I get a strike or catch fish I slow down and fish a worm to look for other fish in the area. There is usually more than one.
  10. seat filled
  11. Scouting Lake Pierce in Polk county for the first time on Sunday. Anyone want to join me?
  12. Lake Tarpon is tough for me. I fished that creek during the spawn without any success. I have caught most of my fish in Tarpon offshore on sand bars. This time of year I would fish a reaction bait like a skinny dipper or rattle trap.
  13. Good ole Lakeland boy. I have more contact with Bobby than Chris and Arnie but all three of the brothers are the same. Robert "dad" raised 3 great men.
  14. To answer the original question: Location - "North" end of Toho in February with a bucket of shiners watching a bobber for 3 days. You are nearly guaranteed a DD.
  15. I'm not aware of anyplace on the water where overnight camping is allowed.
  16. dynamite swim baits like the big ez
  17. Forecast is for around 4" of rain with winds out of the south at 10-15. Check your normal running water spots and the south side of the islands. Tstone and I will be out of Camp Mack on Sunday in a tournament. See you there.
  18. I'll second the Bitters choice but they are in Sanford. If you are around Disney then there is a Bass Pro not to far away.
  19. I would take you if my work schedule would allow it. Just came back from vacation and don't have much time available. Bank fishing is tough around here but you could in some of the lakes in Tenoroc FMA or Saddle Creek Park. Both are off of exit 38 on I-4.
  20. Nope, it's a private lake. However, I did scope out the outfitter on the property and get a list of boat rental (electric only) rates for next years trip. We will call this a "scouting" trip.
  21. I had a galaxy facinate until I crushed it with a dozer (by accident). I liked it but decided to replace it with an I phone. Could not be happier. I an not a techno guru so the iphone seems a lot easier to use with more apps that I like. If it were me I would take the crap and get an iphone.
  22. As a family we decided that this summer we were going to do other outdoor activities besides fishing. Blasphemy, I know, but it sounded like a good idea at the time. Mountain biking, hang gliding, Kayaking were just a few of the ideas that we came up with. I will be sharing these adventures with you guys in an effort to prove that you are not dead at age 45. So on the first vacation of the summer in the middle of a fishing trip to West Point Lake, Callaway Gardens Tree Top tour was a fun diversion. All geared up and ready to go Nicole and Taylor crossing obstacle #1 Taylor crossing the rope swing steps. Man these were hard. Tater and Dad in a pine tree. Way up in a pine tree. Taylor, coming back to earth on the last zip line 27 obstacles, 5 zip lines and an hour later we are finally done and back on the ground, exhausted. Episode 2 coming soon.
  23. I just received the Navionics Hotmaps Platinum South for my 1198, I have had it 3 days now on vacation on a lake that I am not very familiar with and it is great. 1 foot contours, aids to navigation, submerged structure, and man made fish attractors. I was unsure about it before I bought it but needed something better than came on the unit. If the platinum is available for your unit, I would recommend it.
  24. X2 It would be tough to have a guide business if I did not take out strangers. Most of my friends are broke.
  25. Maybe they would start a professional mudfish trail. I know I could make money on that...
