  1. on a zebco 202 or cane pole only...Done
  2. I will most likely have a back seat open most mornings as Nicole is "selective" about her fishing times.
  3. Absolutely. I am a little disappointed that there is no beef jerky on the menu.
  4. My son got me between the shoulder blades with a spook. Both sets of trebles. It took three yanks with pliers for him to get them out.
  5. Nicole is actually excited about the menu. I'm good for $20 in the bucket. Table for 2, please.
  6. Yep it's that time of year again. 2008 I started a contest for the largest bass relative to your state record and it's that time of year again. We are starting a little later this year and going to run through the middle of June. So if you guys are ready then let's get signed up. If you want to play, then all you have to do is declare your intention to participate in the "get your but kicked by Dwight," tournament. If you play, you will find out who he is and how bad you suck. This contest will run from daylight on April 15th through dark on June 19th. Anyone who has posted to this thread by midnight on April 14th is eligible to play. Prizes to be determined at a later date. RULES 1. This is for FUN... 2. There are 3 classes this year. Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spotted. You must have submitted your entry prior to midnight April 14, 2013. 3. This contest runs from daybreak on April 15th, 2013 to sunset on June 19, 2013. 4. Artificial bait ONLY. If you are sight fishing, the fish must be hooked inside the mouth. All fish must be caught in PUBLIC fishing areas. No private stocked ponds (ie you own the pond and are raising trophies). 5. Scoring of the fish shall be completed as follows: Example FW = fish weight = 10.5 lbs SR = state record Fl = 17.27 lbs FW / SR x 100 = your score 10.5/17.27x100 = 60.80 rounded to 2 decimals In order for your fish to count, you must submit a picture, the state record weight for the state the fish was caught in, and an accurate weight of the fish. You can submit fish caught in different States but only your highest score counts. Your fish must be submitted within one week of being caught. (No sandbagging) You may submit as many fish as you want as long as subsequently caught fish score higher. All fish must be submitted before 7 am on June 20th, 2013. 6. You can be disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior. The definition of "unsportsmanlike" is completely at the discretion of myself and the moderators. 7. Entry Fee - You must post your intention to play on this thread prior to midnight April 14th. Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......
  7. This is how I learned to build rods... everything you need and need to know in one site. http://www.mudhole.com/Rod-Building-101
  8. Wait...is that banjo music in the background?
  9. this time of year, fish the outside lines of the emergent grass with a skinny dipper or a vibe worm. The weather the last few weeks have made it tough.
  10. Welcome aboard!
  11. Sometimes. But life is always better when you have info. Check your pm.
  12. I have caught more fish within sight of that point than anywhere else in the lake. About six years ago, we spent thanksgiving there and Taylor, who was 11 at the time, proceeded to to wear out the big spots in Highlands cove. They were hanging just under a huge shad ball and about every other cast, her spinnerbait would bring in a 3 lb spot. She still reminds me of that day. I only caught one.
  13. That's funny. Nicole and I also honeymooned there. We stayed in the cabin on the point. It was new at the time, but is still an awesome place to stay.
  14. I love that lake. The wife and I come up every year and stay at Highlands Resort for a week either during the summer or over Thanksgiving.
  15. Note to moderators- I know this may not be in the right forum but I was targeting a specific geographic location. My wife organizes/coordinates pet adoptions in the south east US. Mostly cats. This group saves, fixes, handles vet bills, finds homes and transports pets to new parents all over the east coast at no cost. The specific need is this. A male cat has just been saved from a shelter. He has been to the vet and has a clean bill of health. He has a permanent home, but, transportation to his new home may take 3-4 weeks to coordinate and complete. What we need is someone willing to foster him until all of this has been arranged. This is one of the few areas that she does not have a foster home already set up. If you can help or know someone who can, please let me know.
  16. 30 lb braid is about the equivalent of 8 lb mono so if you don't use a backer you will eat up a box of braid on one spool. I normally put 12 lb big game as a backer for about 75 yds then a double uni knot to connect the mono to the braid, then no leader.
  17. Welcome to the forum. 30lb braid is a small diameter so use 15 - 20 lb mono for a backer. If you are fishing crystal clear water then use a leader, if not, straight braid is the way to go. I fish stained water and never use a leader.
  18. Get it. They are an absolute safety necessity in my opinion. I will not have another boat without one.
  19. Nice fat girl. I'm glad you guys had a good time.
  20. Toho in not a great topwater lake but this works for me. Gambler Green Pumpkin Pearl. If you find scattered submerged hydrilla, swimming it just under the surface seems to work better than on the top. Welcome to the forum

    Buffs

I work outside and wear one everyday with gloves and long sleeve shirts. I've tried most and my favorite is the Columbia. The material is softer and stretchier than most. It is also easier to breathe through.
  22. I will get back to your pm in a few days.
  23. Looks appealing or recommended by a friend is about it for me. I don't care what the pros say. That is almost always sponsor driven.
  24. Yep. I'm gonna make a couple of stops before I get there, but I'm planning on most of the day in that hole with a flippin stick.
  25. And I have my tournament on Saturday. Next time you guys want a little cold weather, just let me know. I will pay an entry few for that weekend.
