  1. Has anyone tried the flex clamp? http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/jaws-flex-clamp I'm getting one for my birthday (Dec 10, in case your feeling generous) and am looking at mounting options
  2. That's a good read Tom. I need to bump up my boat trailer tires 10 psi because I run 70-75 mph on the Goodyears. Thanks for posting it.
  3. You would be shocked at how FEW hours you actually put on the gas motor a year in a true fishing boat. I have a 250 Pro XS that I fish 12-15 tourneys a year and hits the water nearly every weekend and gets less than 100 hrs on it a year. Compare that to the trolling motor which gets probably 500 hrs a year. The average life span of a well maintained marine motor is upwards of 1500 hours before a major overhaul. It's not likely that you will keep the boat longer than the life of either motor.
  4. Pickwick road trip. I fished with Procrafter, Keri, and BeckieC. Finally met Glenn, LongMike, Alpster, RW, 00mod, and many others. Met Steve Parks and learned the Rage Rig. tstone and I caught an 18 lb limit in 45 min, at noon, in April, on a frog, in the bright sun. Go figure.

  6. Central Florida is hit or miss right now but if I had to pick one spot to vacation it would be Camp Mack. Nice cabins, rates are down, and easy access to Toho and Kissimmee. campmack.com
  7. Just put the raid baits in the compartments. My boat is covered and under a shed and I still get them from time to time. They live in the oak trees around here.
  8. In a nutshell: 4-Stroke - basically an automotive style engine- no 2 cycle oil - oil changes like your car - heavier - typically makes less HP per pound - less emissions I've never owned one but I have friends who love them 2-Stroke - The way outboards - dirt bikes - and weed eaters have always been make - you have to add 2 cycle oil to the gas before combustion (either direct injection or mixing in the gas) I've always had one and if it ain't broke don't fix it
  9. Me. And it's probably not your technique. Tournament fishing is a completely different mindset from fun fishing. What do you need to know? You will have to make a donation to "tackle the storm" for my payment.
  10. I order a lot of gear directly from the manufacturer and get tons of stuff along with my order. Earlier this year I was looking for a new braid that was demo'd at the road trip. I could not find it. So I emailed the company to try to find a retailer in my area. Instead of sending me to a retailer, they sent me a 500 yd spool, stickers and a hat. When you show interest in a product and communicate with a company that's when they send you free stuff. Requesting free stickers is not communication. I bet if you emailed the same companies and offered to pay for the stickers, they would give you more than you want. Just my .02
  11. If all else fails you can do it the old fashioned way. Rig up a 1 oz Carolina Rig, pick a section and start chunkin.
  12. I do a couple of trips a year on Kissimmee and do not do shiner trips. Artificial only. I only take out experienced fishermen who are down here on vacation and sick of the Mouse and need to get away for a day.
  13. Tarpon and the Rivers are a waste of time for a Trophy. You don't have to go all the way to Kissimmee but you do need to get into Polk county though. There are many smaller lakes that offer the potential trophy and are still fishable when the NE wind blows. The only problem with Dec through Mar in Central Florida is that it could be 85 degrees or 45 degrees with 30 mph winds. The only thing that is certain is that it is about to change no matter what the conditions. Make sure you talk about smaller lake options with any potential guide. You DO NOT want to be on Toho in the middle of a severe cold front.
  14. You should start guiding Rob. It's not like you have a job or anything to take up your time. And you spend more time on the north end of the lake than anyone I know.
  15. Revo SX HS -Spend the extra $30 dollars even if you have to wait a little longer to get it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ABU-GARCIA-REVO-SX-7-1-1-BAITCAST-REEL-USED-VERY-GOOD-/200986375088?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ecbb8b3b0 Abu Garcia Veritas - get a Medium Heavy that is 6 inches longer than you are tall. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Abu-Garcia-Veritas-Baitcast-Rod-7ft-6in-Medium-Heavy-Action-VRC76-6-/131047691721?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e830d15c9 This combination makes up the bulk of my tournament gear. The rods are light and very sensitive. The reels are indestructible and easy to use. My daughter (now 17) learned to use these at the age of 12.
  16. Probably not but since I have fished with your wife, I know she more than makes up for your shortcomings. You sir are in.
  17. It would have to be the only week I have something scheduled. Taylor has a senior awards banquet Thursday night. Trying to find a way around it, but it's not looking good.
  18. especially your Big fish smile from the back of my boat.
  19. I shoot cheap ammo at the range. Thousands of rounds of tul ammo in both 9mm and .223 every year. But I reload the clips with Hornady before I leave the range. Just my personal preference.
  20. I grew up on Lake Norman and just across the cove (maybe 100 yards) was a public (redneck) ramp. The ramp was concrete but everything else was red clay. Every weekend there was a truck in water or a boat off the trailer on the concrete or Barney Fife breaking up a fight or nearly naked women or, or, or. It was absolutely the most entertaining acre of property I have ever seen.
  21. Humminbird, eagle, garmin, lowrance. I have all four and they all work pretty well for what I paid for each. The eagle was about $150 and the second Humminbird was over $1000. You get what you pay for. Most are going to have equal capabilities in the same price range.
  22. or you could just use a punch stop
  23. My first fish of the day, 18". Caught on a blue berry Rage Tail Cut R worm. I hooked this fish earlier in the day but did not boat it. We went back about 2 hours later and Tommy boated her. 22" and 4.80 lbs but he's not playing this month. Caught on a black/blue baby paca craw. We caught a bunch of smaller fish early in the day but not much after lunch. We did manage to win the tournament and have the biggest fish. Great day overall in some really crappy weather. RoLo, Roger and Lois (Long time BR members) came out to the weigh in. I was great to finally meet them in person.
  24. We had around 30 last year, 20 so far this year. I must have gotten 15 additional pm's last year after the cut off date saying they wanted to play.
