  1. Congrats on the win. You know if you took a bath more often, you could get someone to fish with you.
  2. wait, save your money, and buy the real thing. Cheap knockoffs give you crappy results.
  3. RoLo taught me how to read a map. So I know where to start looking. Wayne P taught me how to read my electronics. So I know what I'm looking at. Now most of my fishing is done offshore, away from anything visible.
  4. Your friend is wrong. If you have a quality onboard charger then you will not have a problem. As Tom said, if you don't use a lot of aux amps and run your big motor often you will be fine. In my case, on tournament days, I start with nav lights and then run dual livewells, dual aerators, and dual electronics all day with very little time on the big motor. If I don't charge my cranking battery I get to paddle like Imoore said.
  5. The six that start on the deck 7-11 medium - finesse plastic 7-9 MH - pitching t-rig 1/2 oz 7-9 MH - flipping Jig 8-0 MH - flipping 1.5 oz 7-6 MH - small swimbait t-rig 7-0 medium - hard baits cranks/top water
  6. Depending on the size of a new lake, I break it up into smaller parts. Then I fish each section until I am completely familiar with it before I move on to the next section. Sometimes this takes days or even weeks of fishing, but, when you discover a pattern, you know enough to be able to repeat it somewhere else on the lake.
  7. Yep, been doing it for about 5 years now. We have 5 caches of our own. Lots around here that are only accessible by boat. Fishing + Geocaching.
  8. When? Where are you launching from? Do you have control over locations? Do you have a gps?
  9. Roger and Lois are both high tech computer nerds. Lois is some kind of rocket scientist/ brain surgeon/pioneer of the computer world. She is obviously much smarter than Roger. Also better looking.
  10. The hot bait last weekend was bitters naked swimmer, in watermelon shad. Sometimes I dye the tail chartruse with JJ's magic. T-rig with enough weight so it swims down with a little tail action. I use a punch stop to keep the weight pegged to the nose. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/naked-swimmer.html Another good bait this time a year is bitters vibe. T-rig with 1/8 oz. I like blue berry or toho gold. My last bait is a fluke, over any submerged vegetation. Mardi Gras would be my choice.
  11. I will admit it is tougher for you bank guys, but not impossible. Vegetation will give you clues. Pads usually grow in muddy areas. Maidencane (kissimmee grass) will only grow in sand. Bull rushes or buggy whips grow in hard packed sand. I use a DD 22 or a 2 oz punch weight to dredge an area and "feel" the bottom and see what comes back on your lure. I sometimes use a "redneck depthfinder' if the water is less than 6'. If you are fishing a manmade pond then you have drainage pipes that come in and go out. You'll probably find broken concrete rubble around these pipes and that equals a "shell bed" as far as blue gill are concerned.
  12. it's hot...not the fishing, but the air and water temps. warmer and I managed some good keepers on Toho last Saturday but nothing over 3 lbs.
  13. Let me say this again for those that weren't listening... The blue gills are spawning. What this means is fish where the gills are spawning and throw something that looks like a blue gill either in shape or color or both. Blue gills spawn on hard bottoms. Buggy whips are a good indication of hard sand bottom. OR Throw a heavy weighted carolina rig and find the shell areas. This is how you can catch a lot of fish in June, in Florida.
  14. I have a pair of Wiley X Jakes smoke and Costa Fisch with the 580 green lenses. I like them both. For low light conditions I wear the Jakes but the Costa's are by far the best in bright conditions. I haven't had a pair of Oakleys in decades so I don't have a comparison.
  15. Blue gill have been spawning. Hard bottom areas with a small swim bait.
  16. That may be the best first post of all time. Way to go Dirty. Welcome to the forums.
  17. Fathers Day 2012. She landed this one all by herself. Her 1st double, Thanksgiving 2007. The next day I found a school of spots where she caught 7 spots over 2 lbs, back to back to back... on a spinnerbait.
  18. hat and gaiter http://www.columbia.com/mens-accessories/men-accessories,default,sc.html my gloves are columbia but I got them through altrec. They seem to be completely out of stock right now. also good stuff here http://glacierglove.com/our-products/sun.html
  19. I have a 92 stratos 201 pro that is mechanically sound but looks rough. I would entertain offers. She has not been in the water in two years, I bought another boat.
  20. I have worked outside in the Florida since 1987. In the mid 90's I started wearing long sleeve cotton tees. They worked ok but when the moisture wicking polyesters became affordable, the game changed. I only wear short sleeves inside now, and I even buy long sleeve performance work shirts for my employees.
  21. 90% of your exposure throughout your life is to your face, neck and arms. I wear spray sunscreen on my legs and feet most of the time.
  22. My answer exactly I'm always covered.
  23. Abu Veracity verc79-7. I just bought one this spring. Get it from Ron at Valley Sports and he will get real close to your budget.
  24. Go to Kiva.org. Read what it does. Join team Nerdfighters. or not. Help get an aspiring business owner started. People say "the World sucks today". Here is how YOU can make the world a better place one family at a time. I have made 3 loans to little construction guys on 3 continents. At $25 a piece it's not going to make a huge difference in my life, but it makes a significant impact in theirs. When they repay the loans I will loan it again to someone else. Also, if you are starting a small business, you could get a 0% micro loan from Kiva Zip. See the Zip tab at the top of the Kiva home page.
  25. It's been a while since I caught a good one. Bitters vibe strikes again.
