  1. Feb 24 out of Camp Mack Weather - Foggy and 60 in the morning, mostly cloudy and mid 70's in the afternoon. Water - mid 70's 7 bites, 5 fish boated. 12lbs with 4 legal fish - 14"+ 1 fish in am on a blue/black chatter bait- 4-5' water on isolated pencil reed island in lake Hatch 2 fish around 11 on a frog in the deep madencaine in Canoe Creek 1 fish at 1pm on a frog in 4' maidencane in Hatch 1 fish at 2pm on a frog in 4' maindencane in the main channel near Camp Mack. Saw lots of beds with no fish on them. Seems that I caught all staging fish. Reaction baits is what was working. Not 1 hit on a soft plastic.
  2. JUST- We finished somewhere around 7th or 8th out of 76 boats. I know there was at least 2 or 3 boats that had between 12 and 14 lbs..The official standings will not be posted until later this week. The nice thing is we beat about 20 boats that just killed us last year including some local pros that I saw on the water. I did not get on the pattern until after noon with a 2:30 weigh in. I caught 6 lbs after 1 o'clock. Anyone can get lucky, the real test will be next month trying to duplicate it.....
  3. Weather was cloudy and mid 70's most of the day. Big fish 4.5 lbs at 730. Total of 5 fish caught, only 4 keepers and missed 2. Total weight of 12.00 lbs and should have had more. 14 lbs paid a check... Here are the biggest 3..
  4. Sort of..Taylor and I continued to modify our elaborate R&D facilities, (garage) and poured a few dozen baits..here are some samples..
  5. LBH, The problem with the timer was the brightness of the part of the moon not eclipsed. If you shot with timer the apperature would adjust to the brightest part in the frame...
  6. I have 2 that are always tied on. Blue/Black chatter bait. I flip it, pitch it, swim it, and dead stick it. Usually catches at least one fish a day. Frog, Gambler cane toad in lane toad color. These 2 baits don't catch high numbers of fish but they both catch big fish.
  7. "post your best Avid look a like photo..(Ray Charles glasses or shadowy self portrait or just plain fuzzy pic)" This was the original definition of the entry fee. We have a crusty old guy, legend really, who signature is these HUGE sunglasses and really bad photos. They are usually taken with a camera phone, grainy, out of focus, shadows over his face....post your worst photo of you and a fish and you will probably qualify.
  8. LBH, I was using a Sony CyberShot with Steady Shot and a 12x Optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. My tripod was a giant bean bag on the roof of my wifes explorer. Even with that, I have 385 shots that are terrible, well they are cool but you can't see any detail. If I had a remote shutter switch it would be easier to get no blurry shots. When you are zoomed in at 48X even your breathing makes for blurs. BTW, the moon is the hardest thing I have ever tried to shoot.
  9. It's all good dave. I was just messing with you. See above rule #1.
  10. I have a few but have only tried them a couple of times....You would think they would work..
  11. I took about 400 shots and most of them were "avids", but there were a few really goods ones.............
  12. OK, dsa. I think all the typo's have been corrected. You are borderline "unsportsmanlike". In the future don't point out all of the directors errors before the tourney starts...........it's just plain irritating..
  13. LBH, just lock that old thread. Me might need to refer back to some of the pre-tourney smack talk when this is done. If everyone plays together well during this one, maybe we can do it again in Aug/Sep when we have 90* water and y'all have the advantage.
  14. THIS THREAD IS NO LONGER TO BE USED.....PLEASE USE THE FINAL RULES AND LIST THREAD. CAN ONE OF YOU MODERATORS PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD SO I DON'T MISS ANY ENTRIES?
  15. ANY NEW ENTRIES TO BE POSTED HERE! KU, your in.
  16. This is the current list of competitors and will be updated as new entries arrive. If I have missed your entry please PM me. The "B/P" refers to bonus and penalty. I will start a new thread on March 1 with the official list of competitors. Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......
  18. Alrighty then. 8 days left to enter....sign up or shut up.....it's almost time to catchy some fishy.
  19. Muddy, I fish shallow natural lakes with practically no structure other than weeds of various types. So here is what I think I know.... Depth changes of 6"s or more constitutes a drop off and will hold fish. Vegetation breaks usually hold fish. Isolated clumps or edges of weedlines usually hold fish.
  20. Times is a running out!
  21. Bought it, Tried it, my computer crashed about 6 months later. Don't think I will be replacing it. It is the same as the Color C Lector. Could be helpful if you know NOTHING about fishing.
  22. I eat fish the night before a tourney.. No bananas on the boat. Always have dill pickles with my lunch. I never tag my first fish with my white culling tag. Man, I need some help.....
  23. I can't find them at W-mart down here.... I poured a Delmart 4.5/5.5 combo stick bait with voids in the middle. The pot we stole from the kitchen did not pour so well. I think if I could slow down my pour rate the air could escape. I also poured a 4" tadpole (1 piece mold) they turned out the best, an eel looking creature, and tried a lizard several times. I found 15 molds on ebay for 40 dollars so we were playing....What should the consistency of plastic be when the temp is correct? Thin as water? If you are recycling plastics when do you add them? When do you add salt and glitter?
  24. I like THE MOOK SPOOK
  25. Where did you find the Presto Pot? I have been looking but can't find one. On a side note, we poured our first worms yesterday just playing around. I could not get but about 10% of them to fill without voids. We are still working on technique and temp control.
