  1. the lake levels are still down....bring on the RAIN!
  2. I would use a dark frog where the grass and pads mix, particularly on the south side of the lake near I-4. A shallow diving, wide wobble crank bait in firetiger near the docks and any offshore structure. Large plastic like a bitters bat, gambler flappy daddy or zoom ultra vibe speed craw. Use dark colors like junebug and rig them texas style and flip the edges particularly where the vegetation changes. As far as when, well that would be when you have the chance. I have not found the astro tables to be very accurate at predicting times. I have caught big fish morning, noon and night during the summer so fish when you can. Let me know how you do.
  3. What lake is it and are you fishing from a boat or the bank?
  4. What kind of water are you fishing? Small ponds, lakes or the Hillsborough river?
  5. Catch them legally, license, limits, ect, then do what you want with them. Personally, I am lazy and hate cleaning fish. We do keep a few a year because my wife likes the taste, so she cleans them. Thanksgiving vacation last year, Taylor was killing 2 lb spots at West Point Lake. We saw an older couple fishing from the public dock. They were not catching much and had a cooler with them so I assumed they were fishing to keep. Taylor, my giving daughter, suggested we give them what we (mostly she) were catching. I thought that was a good idea and they were very grateful. So I do harvest occasionally, but not often.
  6. PM BocaBruce. He lives down there and will hook you up.
  7. I don't know about an exercise program...but....Weber International U is on Crooked Lake and they have a fishing team. If I was going to do it again, that is where I would enroll.
  8. Wait, Wait and then......Wait some more... Retrieve the frog with your rod tip up...when you see the strike, drop your rod and reel in the slack and when you feel tension on your line set the hook. It is very important when frog fishing to wait until you feel tension. Sometimes they will just slap at it to stun it and then pick it as it sinks.
  9. You are completely full of B@##S$#@! (about your pic)....... You are going to fit in just fine here.....Welcome FD
  10. I have been using a spook to pull them from 15-20 ft. I have been fishing brushpiles in a fairly clear lake 5-6' visibility, and they have been coming out of the water on the strike. My new favorite way to fish......
  11. Rays win again......6 runs in the bottom of the 9th...
  12. Tough lesson that I have learned SEVERAL times.....eventually you will get in the habit of checking everytime you pick up a rod.
  13. Nice Job. Three generations on the same dock!
  14. Welcome to the forum Ted, and welcome to bass fishing heaven. I live on the other side of the Bay and fish almost every weekend. Shoot me a PM if you need some spots to fish or some links to the local clubs. FD
  15. Try an new spot and throw reaction baits. I find more NEW spots on the tough days.
  16. I have some video capability with my sony dig camera, but I was thinking about a digital video for shooting the kids and such. What do I look for? What do I need? Under $400 I'm not making movies Easy to download to a PC
  17. Great tip. And there are at least 3 of us up that are not fishing.
  18. Sorry to break this to you Mike, but it is not limited to this forum. I struggle to NOT beat my children when they speak the way many people here write. They are both in honors classes with high IQ's, unfortunately in is not "cool" to speak or act smart.
  19. 2, no 4, no 3......sorry another python reference..... If you are thinking about changing anything, change it. Throw your bait in your spot until you have doubts, then change. You will figure it out.
  20. I had this same problem and it goes away as you mold gets warm.
  21. Both of you go stand in the corner for a time out. Better yet go to the workshop and make ME some of those swimbaits.
  22. All I know about them is that they catch fish. I fish them all the time and have had no problems. They seem to hold up as long as bombers do and I haven't had any problems with the hooks.
