  1. It's on the dryer. Went with metallic lavender for the thread color.
  2. On the dryer
  3. ISame here. I have given away or sold most but I still have several veracity's and a fenwick that I fish. Their replacement blanks are on the shelf but I have not had time to build them.
  4. Where did you get the cork rings? I like the spots in them.
  5. These are for a Father/Daughter combo. They are built on Rainshadow IP903F two piece blanks. Fuji spinning seats and guides. SK2 grips. A little Abalone and thread bling was all they wanted.
  6. Final update. The rods were used as trophies for first place for the largest, Red, Snook, and trout. Overall, one day of fishing raised $50,000 for the Make a Wish foundation.
  7. Yes. Both. You can buy fighting butts, and I do most of the time, that you have to drill out, ream, and slide on the end. It's just tough to get them perfectly centered. Or you can buy/build , like I did on the Dragon Stick, a rear cork butt and glue on a rubberized but cap. It's just a pain to do the final shaping/sanding if you don't get it perfect. You can get plastic and aluminum caps but I prefer the rubberized cork.
  8. Most of my business is friends and word of mouth. I started building the split seats for me and let others fish them. Now they want them.
  9. I bought this blank on sale several months ago and I'm finally going to start it. IFS 764M in forest green 7-6 Heavy, Moderate Fast tip, Telescopic flippin Stick FDX grips Fuji 17mm Split seat Fuji concept SiC guides and tip Rod Skinz Art
  10. Frank G is a riot. He is a retired construction guy/ race car driver/ mechanic/ a whole bunch of others stuff. I have worked with his Son for decades and have recently started fishing with Frank. He retired and bought a house on Toho and since most of my trips are short notice, He gets first dibs at the back seat. He saw the TTS and Back in Black rods and asked if I could build him one when I get time. Well here it is. Rod Geeks C470 MF in Black metalic/ Gold metalic Fuji SK2 split seat SK2 EVA grips Gold trim Fuji SiC guides in gun smoke frames
  11. compared to the same model MHX they feel a little tip heavy. But I have not fished one yet. I thought the same thing about about the rainshadow blank I just built but I love it.
  12. 28" from the butt on 7' rods.
  13. The two fender washers and clamp is an awesome idea to keep the cork lined up. I'm playing with cork but have not got one I like yet.
  14. Yep, I have a metallic blue/ white pearl and a Metalic black/ metallic gold on the shelf waiting to get some attention.
  15. So a client sees the Magnum Barbie build and decided he wanted something similar for his wife's B-Day. A RODgeeks C470 in pink pearl. 7' MH F Fuji Sk2 split reel seat with split cork grips Aluminum bling Fuji SiC guides and tip Here is the grip mock up
  16. a 7' MH painted blank will cost from $80 to $120 plus shipping. Grips, guides and reel seat will cost from $50 on the low end to as much as you want to spend. I put high end components on all of mine and spend around $100. Rod builders normally get from $100 to $150 to build it depending on how much bling you want.
  17. So before I went on vacation last week, I receive 2 packages. One was my blanks about 5 days EARLY and these, a complete color set for free. I really like these guys so far.
  18. Nice build. I like that grip as well.
  19. No, and since you asked, I probably will not. Head to head with MHX, your blanks lose. Yours are larger diameter, 30% heavier, and up to 50% more expensive. I only bought the RX8 because it was on "sale" and finally got close enough to my price point to give it a try. HM-MB862-MHX 7'2" 1 8-14 1/8-5/8 Fast Medium Jig & Pig, Pitchin', Spinner Bait, Worming 1.5 .573 4.5 $104.00 Model Application Len Line Lure Butt Tip Action Pwr Wt Price ETEC72M-CB All purpose Bass /Jig & pig /Worm plastics /Carolina Rig 7’2” 10-17 1/4-3/4 .535 5.5 F M 2.3 $157.74 As I said earlier, I like the RX8 I built, but it's no better than a blank I can buy for $53 less. Unless you want to sell me one for $104 so I can build a comparison rod, then I probably will never buy one. One other point. While you were busy spamming my build threads in January, Mudhole, without my request, were donating parts to my charity builds. You never offered squat.
  20. Yours and Nicoles are Gen 2. They only have a few oddball Gen 1 blanks left.
  21. Fished the rod this weekend and it's great. Starting with a Siebert Fogy, then a Bitters Mega vibe weightless, and finally with a 1/16 oz tungsten and a vibe worm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the balance and it fishes with a lot of sensitivity. The blank is a little lighter than you would expect in a MH but that makes it cast light baits better than expected. The only drawback I see is the cost. It's no better or worse than the MHX HM843 at more than twice the list price.
  22. I had to mix the pink myself to get the right shade but the marbling was a piece of cake.
  23. Final coat of finish on it. 3 coats of clear over the marbling.
  24. different order from a different company. Get Bit is the supplier of the broken blank. I sent an email with a picture last night. They responded today with "Were sorry and we are shipping a new one out today." We will deal with the claim. I can't ask for more than that.
  25. Monday night I pulled the trigger on a few rods from Rod Geeks. Awesome colors to start with. Their High Mod blanks are a little cheaper than Batson and about the same as MHX. They are basically St Croix blanks built in Mexico. So one of the rods is for a client for his wife's birthday and I'm pushed for time. They don't yet have rod dimensions online for sizing winding checks so I called them yesterday. I talked to Bob and he said my rods had already been custom painted, baked, packed, and were on their way to customs. He stopped what he was doing, went and grabbed a blank, and emailed me the measurements I needed. I have not seen the blanks yet but I am already impressed with the customer service.
