  1. The amount of "backplay" in shimano reels has 0 effect on their fishability (is that even a word?). I'd love to be able to afford these high dollar reels, but I'm stuck with my citica's for a good long while.
  2. The actual number of bearing in a reel are pretty much meaningless. There isn't a whole lot of performance increases as you go up the reel lineups. As long as the handle turns the spool, the line will be retrieved. Durability, weight, finish, construction material, etc are other things that differentiate reels. edited to add: Extreme Citica weight 8.6 oz 7.8 drag 10 lbs 11 line capacity 12/120 14/110 bearings 7 4 There are others, but these are just a few items that show other differences. I believe the Citica is a smaller profile too.
  3. I don't even like them for that. You can't feel what the lure is doing. The BPS Crankin Stick is a much better rod for treble hook lures (that rod replaced my Ugly Stick) and for $40 you get it REALLY cheap.
  4. After your Shimano conversion I think you need to take a look at updating your signature!!!
  5. Can you retire after 20 years at UPS with a pension and full benefits? How do your benefits stack up with the cops and teachers? Not trying to call you out, but just wanted to point out that the comparison in pay needs to take into account ALL forms of compensation and not just take home pay.
  6. Holy freaking schmokes I about had a heart attack there. ;D Anyways, congrats on catching up. I'd recommend working even harder to catch up as much as possible. One thing many people fail to realize is that decisions made early on (like 5th grade, etc) affect your life forever. Congrats on trying to get back on a better path.
  7. Hmm, I say suck it up buttercup!!!! ;D You've got to wait what a few days to go fishing? Try a few months on for size. And then add in the freezing rain (accumulating ice) plus the 8 or so inches of snow we're supposed to get. I'd rather it be 70 with a chance of rain and not be able to go fishing than 20 with freezing rain/sleet/snow. >
  8. Not just OPEC will be hit hard by this. Venezuela, Russia, Mexico, and Canada all have large oil exports. Venezuela will likely fall apart since Chavez will not be able to fund his social programs. Russia will be hit with some hard times also. Putin's rise coincided nicely with the rise of oil prices. I wonder how he'll do with oil prices dropping. Russia will either get rid of him or move more towards a dictatorship (more likely in my opinion). We're definately in some interesting times. If the wholesale price of oil holds where it is we're really going to see some VERY low retail prices!!! :)
  9. Not until demand starts picking up. Worldwide demand dropped significantly and there is currently a significant oversupply of oil on the market. This oversupply will take a while to work through. Some analysts were actually suggesting that OPEC would have to cut up to 4 million barrels to enact a sustained rise in prices. Also, OPEC has not been all that compliant in production cuts lately. So, many people will view this as all talk with little action.
  10. Oil and gas prices have been pretty volatile lately. Retail gas prices have risen a bit because it seems that owners don't want to get caught on the wrong side of that volatility.
  11. No need to be sorry about anything. I should've just left it as the joke that it was.
  12. I agree completely. As a cowboy's fan I'm glad to have TO. His presence on the field is a positive and I couldn't care less about his off the field antics. He's basically just a star athlete that still acts like a 2 year old. He needs attention and will do anything to get it, but as long as he performs on the field then it doesn't bother me.
  13. I know. I didn't take offense or anything, it's just that us Illinoisans (the non-corrupt ones at least) are a bit sensitive about giving this guy the governor's job and then him expecting the state to pay for him to get to work (by flying him there). It'd be nice to get a job like that!!! ;D
  14. Blago never lived in the governor's mansion. Instead he stayed in Chicago and "commuted" down to springfield. A bit expensive to commute by helicopter or private jet, but hey, what's money when you've got a 5 billion deficit? I heard on Bloomberg that since the 70's IL has over 1,000 politicians that have been convicted of criminal activity. That's not good.
  15. I've got the same bag and instead of 3700's I use 3600's. Then I can fit in a BPS worm binder and a BPS spinnerbait binder. Holds everything I need and a lot of stuff that I don't.
  16. IT'S FISH CHRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTICE THE SPACE!
  17. I find that statement humorous. Especially coupled with this:
  18. Well, if you're gonna be that picky then I'd just go to *** and stock up on terminator's at 3.49.
  19. Evolution or Terminator jigs if I can get them on a good sale. GMAN's jigs when I can't.
  20. Not sure on the hook type, but GMAN's jigs fit the bill for me. At 2.25 or less for wire tied (3/4 to 1 1/2 are 2.50) they definately fit number 4. www.custombassfishinglures.com
  21. That's not necessarily true. Many non-union jobs exist that are pay very well. I don't think Toyota's plants are unionized, but they have no shortage of well paid workers.
  22. Because without drastic changes in their business models the bailout will be a complete waste of money. If GM and Chrysler get the money that they want then what happens in 3 or 4 months after they've spent that money (their cash burn rate is multiple billion dollars a month!!)? Do we bail them out again? How far do we go down this path before we demand radical changes? I, for one, am for a bailout. However, that bailout should be structured as guaranteeing warraties and providing debtor in possession financing while they go through a bankruptcy filing. A bankruptcy filing will allow the car manufacturers to emerge as more efficient businesses that should be capable of competing with Toyota, Honda, etc.
  23. Well at least the bank's have a chance of surviving with their current structure. The auto companies do not. I heard a good quote on a Bloomberg podcast that the big three are basically pension funds with a small manufacturing company attached to it. Any bailout money given to the auto companies will be wasted if they do not go through bankruptcy. One quick note. The fed hasn't even spent the first half of the 700 billion. So far they've spent just over 300 billion. They are considering using the remainder of the first 350 billion to bailout out the car companies. In order to spend the second 350 billion the fed has to get congress' approval again.
  24. From what I know of cd's you can get your money any time you want. You just forfeit the interest.
