  1. Nice. I just assumed that they wouldn't fit. Hmm, now I need to go buy at least one of those binders and then some of the dual bladed buzz baits.
  2. I'm alright with regular buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. I just use the BPS spinnerbait binders like this. These buzzbaits are the ones that I don't want to mess with carrying around.
  3. I've been interested in these for some time now. The major problem that I have with them is figuring out how to store them! I use a spinnerbait binder to hold my buzzbaits and spinnerbaits and they won't fit in there. I fish from shore so tackle that is easy to pack up and carry is critical. Are these really worth the hassle of finding out how to carry them around?
  4. Actual fisheries managers and scientists will disagree with you. 100% catch and release can be detrimental. Selective harvesting rarely is. Bass are prodigous reproducers and can become extremely overpopulated on their own. A lot of people say this, but is it actually true? Have you actually eaten a 6lber? I've never actually eaten a big bass (larger than a couple of pounds) but the bass that I have eaten have all tasted the same.
  5. bassfeed and espn outdoors are good ones too.
  6. just like it is am anglers choice whether or not to keep legal fish
  7. Most areas don't have slot limits. If the state's DNR doesn't prohibit it then getting mad about it only affects you and your day. You can bet the other guy doesn't give a crap about how you feel about it. As far as you spending thousands of dollars that is completely irrelevant. You can pursue bass for much less and still be happy. So I'm with muddy on this one. I don't personally keep fish but that has everything to do with being too lazy to clean them.
  8. That's pretty crappy. Do over the counter warranties require that you take the rod back to the original place of purchase? I thought you could take them to any retailer that carries those rods and that retailer should honor the warranty.
  9. I now get all my jigs from GMAN. Makes a great jig for a good price, plus he's a member here. See sig below.
  10. I think some of the store branded equipment is pretty nice and reasonable when it is on sale. I wouldn't ever pay full price for them, but the BPS Extremes are good rods for $60. I have 3 (two spinning and one casting). I also really like the BPS Crankin Stick that I got for like $40 (maybe $30).
  11. I snagged that bluegill like that. I think that he hit my line and I felt it so I set the hook and there he was. I was pretty surprised to catch him like that.
  12. There are two ways to post them. One is to use the img tags. (img)address of the picture to post(/img) Replace the () with []. This method works for pictures that are already on the internet. They can be on photobucket or any other website. The one above is from espn.com. The picture is hosted by espn.com and I am simply linking to it. So when someone opens my post the software goes out to espn.com to find the picture and display it here. The second way is to have the picture on any device. Then you can load it directly using the Attachment 1: line. Simply click the browse button, select your picture, then hit post. These appear at the bottom of the post. NOTE: the file size can not be greater than 150kb. If you are trying to load them directly off of a camera then the file size is going to be too big and it won't work. This method actually loads the picture into the forum database and the picture becomes hosted by the forum software. That is why there is such a small limit. If there was no limit then the forum database would be HUGE.
  13. The hook doesn't stand out? On a crankbait what do you think stands out more a snap or two treble hooks? I don't use swivels, but I do use snaps for cranks and topwaters.
  14. It looks like you're buying both call and put options on the price of your commodity. You'll make money as long as the price fluctuates enough, either up or down, to cover the costs of your options. The losing side is if the price of grain remains the same or only fluctuates slightly. Then you're out the cost of both your put and your call. This is an expensive strategy but it ensures a defined income from the sale of the grain.
  15. That's a different type of derivative. As I said earlier there are multiple types. A call option on a stock is an option to buy a stock at a given price within a given timeframe. If you buy a call option for company X at $10 and their stock price rises to $15 then you get to buy the stock at $10 and turn around and sell it at $15 for an immediate profit. If the price doesn't increase then you dont' excercise your option and you lose whatever the option cost you. A put option is the reverse of the call option. So the fluctuation in the price of the asset (stock of company X) determines the value of the option. There are still many other types of derivatives.
  16. Reading posts like this makes me Oh and it's "their side"
  17. The credit default swap is only one type of derivative, but that is one example. It isn't called insurance, but that is in essence what it is. I contract with another party to pay me a sum of money in the event that a certain party (bondholder) defaults. Derivative transactions are based upon events. Whereas the intial example is based upon an actual security (a loan). Calculus derivatives make zero sense to me. I suck at calculus.
  18. Mono doesn't sink. It floats. Braid will help you get deeper if you are using the same strength braid vs mono because the braid will be thinner in diameter.
  19. I agree, that's why I didn't respond about any of the specifics. I wanted to make sure that people had the correct term though.
  20. A Math derivative is not the same as a Finance derivative.
  21. I was exactly the same as you. I didn't fish at all for a few years before picking it back up 2 years ago. I've made my share of mistakes since then!!! But, you can usually get all the good info you need from here!
  22. That isn't an explanation of Derivatives. It's an explanation of a type of Asset Backed Security. The financial instruments described in your post are actual debt being traded and not a trade based upon an event. A derivative that would apply would be that AIG sold "insurance" to the purchasers of the PUKEBONDS in the case that the bar patrons who make up the PUKEBONDS default on their debt. This is a credit default swap, the purchaser of the PUKEBOND swaps the risk of default to the "insurer" (AIG) for a given sum of money. edited for a grammar mistake
  23. You've never used Yo-Zuri Hybrid, have you? Why..? when the ultrasoft has much less memory.. If you haven't used the Yo Zuri Hybrid, then why are you telling the OP that there is no need for a line conditioner on Yo Zuri Hybrid?
  24. I don't know where you read that as it is common knowledge that braid and rocks go together like a knife and soft butter. Agreed. Braid is not the best choice for rocky areas. When fishing those areas one should use a good sized leader of mono or flouro. Braid may be resistant to certain types of abrasion, but it's not resistant to rocks!!!
  25. And that's exactly what you got. I fish with two different extreme spinning rods and one extreme casting rod. As long as you buy them on a good sale they are a good deal. I haven't fished the sahara, but I have the symetre and I like it better than the plfueger I have. The pflueger (am I spelling that right?) is a weighty reel.
